Our New FirePit For Live Fire Cooking - Glen And friends Cooking
This summer we decided to do some backyard fire pit cooking over an open fire... campfire cooking. So we picked up a backyard fire pit from our friends at Iron Embers in Guelph: www.ironembers...

A suggestion for you. Make your own fire starters, using paper egg trays, dyer lint and Paraffin. Using the empty paper halves, stuff each depression with a small amount of balled up clothes dryer lint, melt a bar or two of Gulf Wax paraffin, or any any suitable paraffin in a small pan over low heat, place the egg trays over some news paper because some of it may spill and pour the melted paraffin into each egg cup half. Let cool and cut the individual cups out and store. Each one, when lit will burn for about 20-30 minutes and are excellent for starting fire pits, camp fires, or fire places and are completely waterproof. Repurpose your egg cartons, and make good use of your dyer lint you would normally throw away.

Everyone has their opinions on how to build a fire… I myself would have added more twigs and waited to add the split log, and a firelighter or wax-soaked tissue paper inside the egg boxes… but yours got going nice and fast anyway, so it doesn’t matter :) I was actually impressed at the brûlée torch in lieu of a firelighter. It got those egg boxes going nicely. Have some comment engagement for The Algorithm.

Nice to see a butcher who knows what a true rib eye should be. Most often what RU-vidrs call rib eye is simply a slice of FCO prime rib, tail on. I've always found that a cook fire (opposed to a camp fire) is best laid out in a keyhole manner. The round part out, away from the grill and the "tail" coming off the round part where you rake the coals and the cooking goes under the grill part. That way you can add to the fire but miss that acrid, first burn smoke which has way to many creosote particles in it.

cant wait to see all the wonderful recipes! im curious about the bylaws in your area, we can't have fire pits in like 95% of Hamilton :(
@Vee_H.
@Vee_H. 3 года назад
I have been told that as long as it is a proper barbecue being used to cook food, it is allowed to use wood as to burn. If the fire department rolls up and you have no food cooking on a grill, and flames are shooting up like 4 feet tall, then it is considered a firepit and not a barbecue, and it is illegal.
