I was thinking the same thing - I see guys trying to go for this style and never having it look half as good as Anthony’s does, maybe you need thick hair to pull it off? Then I see Anthony’s hair style and think ‘oh, this the look they are going for’ and it suddenly makes sense!

Great Vlog! Very informative. I thought you both explained the bridge/parking/moving the van very clearly. That was a long way to pedal on a muddy towpath especially with an e-bike Anthony. You are a trooper. Absolutely loved the part of you getting ready to do some art Paul, and then watching you actually complete it. Beautiful! Dexter is amazing at 16. Thanks Kathy. We have been asked a few times so thought we would do a vlog explaining it. There have been some mammoth treks back for the van. All helps with my fitness regime I guess. It has been horrific the last few weeks. Really sad that some have actually lost their boat homes too. Thankfully, we have been lucky and just mud to contend with. Thank you for noticing my weight loss, it means a lot. I absolutely loved seeing the Timelapse on this vlog. Hope you are having a good start to 2024❤️

It was fascinating watching the artwork appear so lifelike. Hearing that you suspect you have a kidney stone brought back memories for me. It is without doubt the worst pain I have ever felt, and there is no position you can rest in to ease that pain. It just won't go away. I was biting the pillow it was that bad. It took an 18 inch stent up into my kidney for 6 weeks to clear it and then when that was removed, I had another, shorter, convoluted stent fitted for nearly 3 weeks. Going to the toilet was fun. I had to sit down like a lady.😮 But don't worry, you will be fine.

Loved the time lapse too Harry. Paul’s pain has since gone and his scan was normal 🤷‍♂️. I have heard they are incredibly painful. We have to sit down like a lady on the compost loo 😂. Hope you are keeping well. ❤️

I'm sure it has been said many times but the three of you always make the perfect start to a weekend (even in January, In Canada). Thanks for sharing the process for creating a hand drawn piece of art and the background music was amazing during that part. Unless you watch a drawing come to life one doesn't realize how important and difficult the background shading is create.I will never look at a painting the same way again. Like your artwork, these videos are handcrafted works of art with every detail curated. Nice to hear that you caught up with Caroline and Peter. Hope her mother is doing well (or at least better). As we head into a -8 to -10C week I thank you for bringing some warmth to all of us. Stay safe and healthy. Hope you had an amazing New Year's.

Oh Kidney stone ! I passed one on Christmas day, it was not good but I feel like a whole new woman now lots of things I hadn't associated with a kidney stone have now gone away. Great vlog, always wondered if boaters vehicles were targeted by the criminal element in society. I really liked seeing how Paul does his art work. Lovely scenery as always. Maybe Dexter wanted to get home to a nice warm boat rather than be out and about in the cold weather. 5oclock can be a wonderful time to view the world.

They are meant to be so painful. Luckily, Paul’s scan was normal. Glad you feel better. I know a few boaters who have had their vehicle broken into. We have been really lucky 🤞. Love watching Paul’s art come to life too. Dexter loves being outdoors. Think he prefers it to being on the boat. It was a treat seeing the mist at 5 o’clock. All very quiet too. Great video guys, I seem to remember hearing the phrase “bridge hopping” before but never knew what it meant. I like the fact that you are explaining ‘behind the scenes’ stuff like this, because it gives us a good insight into what life is like on a narrow boat. Looking forward to more great videos 👍😃

Thanks Chris. It does have some other meanings so I am told, such as just moving the boat between bridges and not complying with CRT moving rules, but we have always head it in this context. Not heard "slutchy" for years! One of my dad's favourite words. I'm from Manchester too, but the opposite side to you near to Ashton under Lyne. Your van insurance will be expensive because it's being left unattended. We have a 2017 motorhome which is kept in secure storage and our insurance last year was £439. Fortunately it hasn't gone up at all over the last three years, in fact it's gone down a couple of pounds each year.

Ouch Paul, hope that passes quickly🤞. I didn’t realize Dexter is a Labradoodle ( or however you spell it😳) , we have a Labradoodle but he’s white with some golden colouring which will no doubt spread and darken with time. He’s about 9 months old and wishes he was as small as the kittens so he could cuddle on our laps but he’s huge 😂. If he gets loose for a second he runs for the ocean at the end of the street which is a pain now it’s winter. Loved the cat picture🥰🙋🏼‍♀️

Happy New Year guys lovely to see you out and about. Re the camper... Why not consider ditching it and getting something like I have - a high roof Fiat Doblo. I put the back seats down and have a camping bed that sits over them meaning I can sleep there. I have a small fridge a camping stove for coffee but it's still classed as a car so the cost is a lot lower. Also it's easier to 'stealth camp' I recently slept overnight in a supermarket carpark - no trouble! 😊❤

Anthony should have one of those small not too heavy power stations like the Jackery 300 Plus as standard cargo to charge his bike battery in an emergency. I bought one recently after we lost power during that huge wind and rain storm we had in the USA and I had to go out and drive for a couple of hours to charge my phone. You’ve had a lot of rain and flooding too, I think. I assume he could use the bike while it was charging. It might come in handy at other times to charge phones and camera equipment. That bike ride must have been hard. The weather looks, to use the standard description, glorious.

Hey Susan. We actually have a Jackery but it is kept in my van 😂. They are very handy. I would have had to have waited for the battery to charge as it is housed within the bike frame. It really was a hard cycle back but at least I got some calories burnt off . 😊. Have a fabulous week ❤️

Oh Anthony, 5.30am start, van insurance wow, muddy tow paths and run out of batttery cycling --nearly holiday time, your going to need it. In the cold weather we have found 4 hours cruising is enough, then you just get very cold. Lovely speed up of Pauls art work, very interesting and great results. happy New Year and a healthy 2024 for the three of you xxx

Happy new year Paul and Anthony. Loved the cats art. The cat with yellow eyes looks identical to my cat Jasmin. Dexter is a trooper, sadly I had to say goodbye to my old dog last Dec, he was 16 and loved walking, age didn't affect his mobility. Keep on keeping fit. 💚

Great vlog as always nice to see other side off narrow boating moving transport are them gauges any good for your water and diesel I like to old car gauges more reliable I suppose your useing more because you got heater on still like a coal fire but I think I have both so the hole boat was worm have great week stay safe happy new year hugs to dexter

Thanks Nicholas. Sorry for the late reply, the internet has been very sketchy. Yeah, boating isn’t always rosy and can be hard work. The gauges are actually pretty accurate, we are pleasantly surprised. The diesel heater is pretty efficient using 0.4l/hour on the lowest setting, which is plenty warm enough. It does keep us toasty though and without the mess of coal. Happy New Year to you. Take care ❤️

Aww glad you enjoyed Roger. Paul has been looking at a different style for the vlogs. Since I got the camper van, we can travel further afield. I tend to head back to Manchester on a Tuesday and sleep in my van Tuesday and Wednesday and come back Thursday. I have joined a gym so can do a work out and have a shower before work. It seems to be working well. Hope you have a lovely weekend ❤️

A Happy New Year boys, I so enjoyed the art work. Pastelmat is my favourite surface and I use the same brand of pastel pencils, however I have not tried cats and only done dogs. With all that beautiful scenery to inspire I would have to paint landscapes and wildlife.

Interesting info! 2 electric folders, lucky you! I may have missed this as I haven’t caught up (dipping into a few later ones, still watching all from the beginning 😅), can I ask why you changed from the Brompton to the Mirider? Both great bikes which we considered but went the Estarli e20 route for bigger wheels however they don’t fold as small so wouldn’t suit your purposes but I’m just interested in how you find the Brompton? I don’t envy you your early start Anthony 😢 but I love your artwork Paul 😍

Hey Jacqueline. I sold my Brompton recently. I adapted it with a Swytch kit, which was great. The wheels were just too thin to cope with the muddy towpaths. The MiRider that I bought has the chunky tyres which makes it so much easier through mud. It doesn’t fold as small, but still a great bike. Hope you have a great week ❤️

Ahh, yes I can imagine. They have just developed an off road Brompton I believe but it won't be cheap! Folding bikes and narrowboats and campers all go together dont they - huge fun 😍

As a kid I spent many an hour in the farmhouse you passed near the fuel boat, it has (or did back then) a double seated loo down the garden! Now that togetherness!! Lol!! Great vlog, how was the tow path for mud, last time I walked to Wrenbury it destroyed my walking boots it was that deep!!! Lol!!

Happy late Friday! 🥰 First things first---how are you doing with the flooding situation? What I've seen has been really horrific. I've been worried about all the vloggers that I follow. 😟 Loved the fast forward of the artwork. The cats are gorgeous. ❤ It must be such a pain to move the van around like that but it is necessary because you need the transportation. One thing though---riding an e-bike with no power has to count as a major workout. 😊 They are saying we might get some snow but the predicted temps don't show that happening so I guess I'll find out tomorrow! 🌨 I hope Paul is getting his videos sorted. At least they weren't totally lost. ❤ Have a great weekend and take care. ❤

Hey Dorothy. Sorry for the late reply. Internet is a little sketchy. We are both ok re the floods, thankfully. Some areas have been really badly affected. I loved that time lapse too of the cats. They were fabulous. It is a pain re the van. We always said it would be much easier without a vehicle but definitely a necessity at the moment. It most certainly was a work out when the battery conked out. 😰. Oh, I do hope they are wrong. As for the videos, I can’t believe a fellow boater sorted it all for Paul. Something not quite right with your campervan insurance it should be half that or less and is generally conisder to be a low risk group.

Aww thank you so much. That is really kind. I have stopped eating cakes as often and have been going to the gym at least 3 times a week by coinciding it with when I am working. Sorry lads but bridge hopping is what so called constant cruisers do to avoid getting overstay notices they hop from one bridge to another and then back again to avoid getting getting tickets then tell everybody they are hard done by

Hey Eric. Funny enough, our old boat builder used to do this but many said that they didn’t find it useful so stopped. I can imagine it has a use when gauging the front of the boat but to be honest, you do tend to just get a natural instinct for it. Fab question though. Have a lovely weekend ❤️
