Jason, I can hear the heartbreak in your voice at the loss of your family property that held so many memories. The fire took the building, but nothing can steal all the precious memories you have of your time spent there with your granddaddy and family. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I totally agree with you. Growing up in my childhood we lost two homes in fires. One due to the old kerosene refrigerator when I was 3yrs old and a wildfire in another State when I was 5 both fires we lost everything from photos to clothes and house hold things. This has left me with terror when seeing fires even on the news to this day and I am over 70. My heart breaks for you and the family Jason. The cost is hard to accept but I know that between your family and Ryan's family and trust in God things will work out. ❤. Prayers are being said for you from Australia.
Jason, I am so sorry for the loss of Granddaddy's building. Even though the jars were lost, the building itself was such a part of you and your Granddaddy, it is almost like losing another piece of him. Ryan is such a special and inspirational person, I am so glad you have partnered with him and introduced us to him.
Truly horrible, u wasn't aware they had a candle business, who was making those, scented? What could cause it, no power,no propane. I do see venting fan so power must have been there at some point I wonder if there was a hot wire unknown.
I'm so sorry for the loss of the family building, but, as Brooke said, we're grateful that there was no loss of life and no one was hurt. I did enjoy your visit with Ryan the Roaster. He's such an upbeat person! 😍 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
I’m so sorry. We had a house fire. My husband and I were staying with my elderly mother in law when our son called around 5 in the morning to say the house was on fire. We rushed there, so thankful our son got out alive and didn’t sleep through it. Yes, it’s just a building, but it’s your building and your memories. Sending a hug. I’m sure the Cog Squad will surround you, your family and friends with love and support.
When I was child our family home burned, no one was home. We were shopping & came home to fire trucks & a blazing house. No one was hurt & We lost almost everything- material possessions. Wonderful Neighbors took us in : My parents, 4 kids & my Grandma! My Dad built a new home on the same land & we lived in a trailer as we rebuilt. I understand - to some degree your feelings - I was a child but decades later have my very vivid memories of my 1st home. Ryan was right- you just go on. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am so sorry for your granddaddy building lost and all your jars. It is very difficult to go through a fire. We went through a house fire on December 31st, 2023. Thanks, the Lord. My daughter woke up as the fire started in her room. We lost one of our pets, and our house was partially destroyed. This is the most devastating thing our family has gone through. Thank God, my family made it out alive. 😢 Cog Hill family is on my prayers. 🙏🏼 ❤
I’m so sorry to hear about your family’s loss. I’m glad your granddaddy didn’t have to see it. Poor Shirley - she’s had a lot to deal with these past few years.
Jason, you may have lost the building, but you will always have the memories to cherish! Talk about it. Relive those moments. It will help you accept the brick and mortar building where your precious memories were made. Everything happens for a reason. ❤
I am so sorry that Granddaddy's old shop that was used as the family business was destroyed and the candle jars . GOD bless everyone on their new beginning. Prayers ✝️ 🙏 💖
I’m so sorry Jason😢. It’s heartbreaking to see how the fire destroyed your family’s business. The business may be gone but the memories will live on forever.
Jason, check into your homeowners insurance for your property. It might cover your loss. This brought me to tears, Granddaddy not here with you any longer but this legend lived on. God bless❤
Jason...this coastal Alabama gal understands the emotional loss a fire can cause. The day after my parents dropped me off at college we had a horrible fire in our home, I lost so many cherished things I had collected as a child in the 50's and 60's, old Elvis 45's, comic books,cameras...my whole childhood things that I certainly could have retired without a care after they were sold. But...my parents survived and they were only "things" but it still was an emotional loss. Sorry you lost your Grandaddy 's building Jason
Oh man! How devastating! - Like others are saying - Order something from them!! This will help them recover!!! - Thank GOD no one was hurt. Always a blessing
I am so so sorry about the fire, not only about the jars but also because it was a memory regarding your Grandfather and his business senselessly gone.❤
I'm so sorry for the significant loss of the jars in that fire. It's hard to swallow but it didn't burn your wonderful memories of grandaddy's business. nothing can take those away. Thank goodness nobody was injured. Love to you all at Cog Hill!💕🤗💕
Oh Jason and Brook, my heart hurts that you are going through this horrible loss. Nothing can take away the awesome memories that you and your family has with this building.
Many people are struggling to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads, our economy and inflation are horrific, people are really struggling just to live. Hopefully insurance will help them rebuild a brand new one!
Good idea but they need a version with an added profit line to really re-coop the losses. I gave a suggestion in my personal comment about maybe making a memorial decal and charging a special profit margin for candles with that on it. Especially if they are able to salvage any of the jars to use for it. It would be necessary to pay the girls at the shop to make and place the decals plus an extra maybe $2 to pay for an extra new jar with each candle.
@@carlapierle8623 that’s so sad and unfortunate, the building had significant financial value and was being used for a for-profit company, hopefully they’ll weigh it’s benefits and take out insurance on their new building in the future, I really hope it wasn’t arson. The same thing occurred when Jason’s grandfather’s home was damaged by a tornado about a year or so ago, the insurance had lapsed awhile back, so no coverage. I personally don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t carry insurance, especially since they live in a tornado prone region, just like we do here in Texas (plus we’ve had several hurricanes this season that caused a lot of damage and flooding, water finally started receding a few days ago in certain states).
Thank God no one was hurt, so sorry for your loss of property and special memories, but keep the memories in your heart and take small baby steps in your mind. God bless you Jason and your family.❤❤🙏🙏
I'm sorry, fire is unexpected and awful. We lost our house in Oct 2019, and I am still upset about it. Prayers to all of you, you will get over this and it will be OK.
Jason and Brooke I’m sorry about the loss of your grandpa’s building that holds so many treasured memories for you. Sending you all my love and hugs. ❤️
Jason, you are a highly sensitive person, so you feel more deeply than average persons. It can be tough to feel so deeply, but it can be wonderful when you listen to beautiful music or view art or the beauty of nature and animals. And you have empathy. Take care of yourself.🌻
Jason n Brooke I'm so sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter what kind of building it was. It had your memories in there. You know you can burn the building down. But it can't burn your memories away. Prayers for you all!
Something WONDERFUL will come from this! I am sure of it! You folks are blessed because you bless others! You're in my prayers. Sending you Love, Light and Peace from Green Bay Wisconsin.
I'm so sorry for the loss of the building and the candles. If there was no power, it could be arson. You will still have your great memories. No one can take that away.
I’m so sorry for the loss of your family building and the stock of jars you lost. And grateful that there was no loss of life. You are in my prayers. 💕
Very sorry to hear about the fire ❤❤❤ Hopefully you are able to salvage some of the blocks from your grandpa's spot, and bring them home to keep some of that long history around the farm to continue to build on..❤❤❤ Godbless
With the loss of a building the only thing you loose is a building, and what is inside of course. No people were hurt (feelings yes), the memories will always be in your heart.
I am so so sorry about your loss 😢.Ryan is the salt of the earth ❤. He can bring a instant smile to your face,Thank you for introducing him to us .Have a blessed day
I’m so sorry for the loss and the shock of seeing your family’s building that held so many memories for you. Thank you for sharing this with your RU-vid family. Y’all are loved. Huge hugs..
I am so sorry about the fire and the loss of all the candle jars. At least you still have your memories of the family business. I have the peach candle and absolutely love it. It is simple and elegant and the peach smell is so fresh.❤
I am so sorry for your family's loss. I can not imagine a building like that would burn when no electric hooked up. Thinking of candles one sent I have never seen is coffee. It is a smell many people love. Just think about it. ❤
So sorry about the fire and I know it was a shock but you will always have the memories of your time there just like you have of your Grandaddy. God has got this just stay strong.
I am gonna order some candles to support you and help recoup your loss. I am so sorry for this devastating event that burned your Grandfathers business. Much love and many blessings.
I found that if you pick salad greens, don't wash them, bag them in a 1-gallon Ziplock bag and use a straw to suck out the air, the greens stay fresh for about a week.
I know your being brave for all of us and trying to stay upbeat..... Just know I understand how emotional is to loss a piece of something that connects you to old memories and your dad. Sending hugs your way.❤❤❤
The loss of a family building like that can be very traumatic. We recently had to sell our grandparents grocery store / gas station / garage in Maplesville, Alabama. It was bulldozed and trees were already growing. A lot of memories for a lot of people in the community, all had connections to that grocery store in gas station. Certainly, you'll be able to take this loss as a business expense for your taxes. But that will not make up for the memories.
I'm so sorry about the devastating fire at your family's business. I could absolutely feel the heartache of both you and Brooke when you were looking at the remains. BIG Hugs and lots of prayers for peace as you get through this. Ryan is so upbeat and positive, no wonder you cherish his friendship so much!
I'm sorry for your loss. Buildings are vessels for memories. It sure can hurt your heart. A tornado went through our little town. For a few weeks, I cried every time I drove through. It was just seeing a place I loved hurt. You can't even tell now. Time marches on, whether we like it or not. Hugs.
