The right pronunciation in German of "Luchs (=Lynx) is "looks" and of [Rot-] Fuchs (=[red] fox) is "fooks". You both are very likeable so keep it up and warm greetings from Germany.

Seeadler means Sea-eagle, so living on the coast. The National animal is actually the Steinadler (Stone-eagle) who is a little smaller and lives in the alps.

5:30 that's exactly right, foxes can adapt to all kinds of environments, even cities. They actually thrive there - as do a lot of other species, such as squirrels, rabbits, hares, and so on. Greater risk of being run over by a car, but FAR more food to be found. Lynxes, by contrast, are confined to the forest, and avoid humans at all cost. BTW, the German letter combination "chs" is pronounced like "x" most of the time, this is true for both "Luchs" and "Fuchs".

10:10 actually we do have snakes in Germany. But they are rare and most of them are perfectly harmless. The only venomous snake to be found anywhere in Germany is a species of adder, But it is very rare, does not live close to where humans live, and its bite is nowhere near as dangerous as that of snakes in other parts of the world. Probably about as dangerous as a bee sting. In fact, when you walk around in nature in Germany, you should be more concerned about searching your skin for ticks. Not only are they everywhere, their bite can also transmit dangerous illnesses such as lyme disease or even FSME, if not removed in time. FSME can be vaccinated against. Lyme disease cannot.

Lynx are pretty big and can not be domesticated. Basically their young are already as big or bigger than most house cats. And 1-2 kg is a lot. It is basically 1-2 medium sized rabbits A DAY (keep in mind, that it 1-2 kg of MEAT, so not including bones and guts).

And elusive (and therefore not really dangerous to humans, even if they are the largest felines to be found in Germany. Wild boars are FAR more dangerous especially when they are with offspring; and you are FAR more likely to run across them). Even forest rangers consider themselves VERY lucky when they see one live (and not just on a camera trap). Even most forest rangers that work in an area where they occur, have never seen one live in nature. Even if they have been on the job for 40 years or more.

01:04 No they are not going extinct. Some animals in germany were already "extinct" in german territory because of massive hunting like in the 1800s but the animals came back, like coming back into germany from neighbouring regions or beeing reintroduced. That happened years ago like with lynx and wolfes, around the 2000s years there were much much less lynx and wolfes in germany than now, even if they are still in low numbers but now the are much more so they are increasing and wolfes are increasing very fast, so its going very good and of course lynx, wolfes and so are not beeing hunted anymore and there are programs that monitor their number of population, location etc so these low numbers of lynx and wolfes are not decreasing, they are increasing 😁👍 In 2016 there were 70 lynx in germany, in 2021 there were already 125-135 grown up lynx and 59 young lynx. Around 2005 there were like 2 or 3 wolf packs in germany, now over 184. Total population over 1.300 Great content by the way 👍

I guess foxes wasn't hunted that hard in the past as wolves and lynxes, as the latter is more danger to larger livestock. Foxes would just have been seen as a threat to smaller animals. At least this is the case here in Sweden. Foxes are most active during dawn and dusk. When I worked afternoon and night shifts I had a fox "friend" that used to patrol its territory around my bus-stop both at the evenings or mornings when I sat there waiting for the bus on my way home. I guess it was looking both for smaller pray and stuff us humans had left that it could eat. If I just sat still and nobody else was around it totally ignored me and would walk by quite close.But if I made the smallest noise it would keep away.

Fox, they are very fast, have a good sense of smell, can hear very well, but cannot avoid a red, illuminated semi truck, which is probably the most common cause of death. Just like with birds of prey. They can see a mouse in the tall grass from 100m up, but not a semi truck.

I think there must be more than 200 lynx in Germany. They are very hard to spot, with some exceptions. There is a golf course in my village, and the lynx sit there almost every day in the distance and watch the game. They love it if a golf ball flies near them, and they chase it. They are cats after all 😅

2:45 Wolves are not a threat to humans. They do occasionally kill sheep and other grazing domesticated animals, however. So they are not very popular among farmers and the like, to put it mildly.

All large predators that could pose a threat to humans were hunted on a massive scale in Europe. And in some regions, this led to the complete extinction of some species. And since Germany is very densely populated, this is really no surprise. And foxes, are not such kind of animal...

Sorry, i like the wolf, too. But 1300, or maybee more, are too much for this higly Urbanised Country. Sweden and Norwegen has together less than 1100 Wolfes with about 15 Mil. People. Compared to Germany with 84 Million. And compared with the land area, Sweden and Norwegen has together 835.502 km² , Germany 357.592 km² . Meanwile u must not be afraid of Snake (to cold for them) but of the Wolf to kill your dogs. They got filmed in front of a Supermarket at Daylight!

US have a bold, white head eagle and we only have a white ass eagle.
