Can you guys make a video describing/detailing what stands out as "bedding area" to yall. Like I see yall are persistent on setting up on bedding area, but when youre walking thru a new public place, what stands out to you, what characteristics shout "bedding" to yall, and then once youve decided thats where you need to set up, how do you decide which trees you want to actually make your stand in?
@@judahwilliams27 not exactly, i know of a giant that's on my property and he beds up on the top of a extremely high ridge, one side choked with mountain laural, the other side is steep but wide open for him to dip down and away from danger.. ill be in there next year
Been watching for couple years. Be easier to list where they don’t bed. Even when you find a bed hard to determine if used days or nights and whether or not they use regularly. I get they probably don’t like water when cold but I bet many a turkey hunter has spooked one out of water when it’s hot. I have. Just don’t think someone can give you a formula that will guarantee you deer will be in there
@@doncook3584 actually during the rut it’s cold, and they need water during rut several times a day matter of fact. And think about what they eat all day. Woody browse like briars, acorns, kudzu. After eating that all day they have GOT to be thirsty!
I realize this is an older video. But there's a shitload of learning experience on it. Wish you guys would do more of these. Never stop learning! I've watched enough of you guys and other people with a cameraman, that's a major help. And I'm not just talking about filming. Thanks guys!
How are all these wildlife land management boys supposed to make any money when you keep showing everyone how to kill big bucks on public land without a box blind and well manicured food plots? Lol. Can't get enough of your Content!
and comparison of license fees, or draw percentages, where you should start stacking points, what comes with deer license (turkey, small game, whatever else)
@@JayN4GO i totally agree with you . They are good hunters . But it looks like they hunt mostly flat land . I don’t see we’re they have to take thermals in consideration . I hunt hill country also .
I'd love to see a video of the whole process of making a video worthy to put out for us. As far as the editing process and what programs you guys use to what cameras. Think it would make for a great video for guys wanting to self film and dont know where to start.
Man! SO cool to listen to you guys describe exactly what it is you're thinking and WHY. Also, you guys are doing things that have been taboo according to "the experts" for so long. Maybe the biggest aspect of THP success, is that each of you are just as excited to do all the work to film your buddy shooting a slammer buck, as you yourself being the shooter. I just can't describe how vitally important that aspect is!
You guys have influenced me to try hunting public land I have 300 acres that’s been hard to between people killing small bucks every where around us so this year I’m going to try hunting public land and use your tips
Lol just because you don't get any bucks doesn't mean you need to stop people from killing "smaller bucks". Stop trying to mask your trophy hunting with "what's best for the population". If older bucks had no antlers you'd be shooting small bucks too.
The best thing about these top 10 videos......i remember watching them all the 1st time around! Still get the same excitement too!!! Keep up the awesome content men!!!
11. Boots on the ground - Learn the layout of the land. Scout for bedding, trails, scrapes and rubs, food, different possible hunting setups, entry and exit routes.
Another great video guys!! Aaron looked like he just dropped his ice cream cone in the dirt when the buck winded their ground scent. Been there done that myself! Stay safe, Cubby
Don't really care what you guys talk about or do I'm watching 👍, what I love about this video is it shows how aggressive hunting works you have to get out of the comfort zone and go get them 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
for sure one of the best tips and tricks video i’ve see from you guys. just started bow hunting and this is gonna be put to play next season keep up the good work!!!
This was an excellent top 10. I like how y'all included success or possible success stories along with each tactic. Also, Greg has to be one of THE best at solo filming hunts while being successful.
please do a TOP TEN "Greatest hits" like a "NOW THATS WHAT I CAN MUSIC" CD from when we was kids. lol for example - Grant busting his a$$ trying to jump the fence. im sure yall can dig up 10 solid bloopers
Could you do a live Q and A with anyone who’s willing to answer where they would set up a stand on a topo/hybrid map that everyone can see and you all can critique that spot as to why you would/wouldn’t set up there? This type of constructive criticism is what helps me learn.
Thank you for everything you guys do it is help me so much I have everything to bow hunt for the first time I've shot a lot of good bucks on public land with a shotgun but never with a bow thanks to you I'm going to try it keep doing what you're doing thank you....
Public land is just that public land and MUST be accessible to public yet million of acres are not because they are surrounded by private land owners telling the public "no access". They (the private land owners) say they are the stewards protecting public land... Wrong, but they get away with it.. Our constitution gives the public the RIGHT to access PUBLIC LAND!
Aaron or zack you guys should come to southern Indiana and take me up on an invitation hunt on three different farms I have permission to hunt and do a private property episode and show the pros and cons of private vs public and busting the myth that private property doesn’t always mean better hunting or vice versa...plus the non resident tags and license are super cheap! Three birds one stone!!
👍 Great Advice ! - I hunted a public area once, before watching this. I couldn't wait and brimming with excitement, got in well before daylight and quietly settled in. Soon the woods would be waking up and all the gifts nature has to offer would slowly reveal themselves. It was my favorite time, as dew lifted and the sounds of life emerge. Or so I thought. An hour AFTER the sun came up, the first of endless hunters started making their way past my tree, in search of their elusive quarry. They stomped in circles until noon (they were 'still' hunting I guess), then most stomped back to their respective trucks and beer coolers. A few seemed to hunt in pairs, so they could enjoy loud conversation, while stalking. The entertainment for me was seeing the look of defeat on their faces, as they did laps around my stand, reasoning that no deer resided in that part of the county. One hunter (and I use that term with hesitation) even marched by at 15 yards, pausing to take a leak, then opted to fling an arrow "at" an unsuspecting beer can he found nearby, to hone his shooting skills. Two others, I got to know well, even though they never saw me. They spread out within sight of each other, (one under me) and stayed in close communication via radios. They kept each other abreast of all movement they spotted during the days hunt, as well as discussed work, spirts and their distain for their small kids and big wives. No bothering with whispering, since deer can't hear. My favorite had to be the "prepared" hunter, who walked in wearing slacks, casual loafers and a brand new camo t-shirt and hat. He grasped a new hang-on tree stand (no ladder or steps) and a camping stool. He carried a bow from the mid 60's and his quiver kept falling off, spilling his three arrows, one with a field point. On his belt was a variety of deer calls, knives, hatchet, compass, depth finder, safety glasses and several accessories he didn't need. He also sported an orange/black camo school backpack, complete with tupperware containers to secure the rotisserie chicken, potato salad, steamed veggies and what appeared to be Baked Alaska for dessert. After dining on a log, his departure was marked by the jingling of his minivan keys with every step. Of all these mighty outdoorsmen, only one knew I was there the entire time and that's only because of his decision to select a nearby spot upwind, remove Charmin from fanny pack and squat under a tree. At this point I whistled, revealing my covert ambush spot and thwarting his intended blissful deposit. Sadly, I too saw no deer (or squirrels, or birds) that morning, and decided to relocate for the afternoon sit. No buck that afternoon either, although I saw does and other wildlife, which was a treat. Yeah, it was lonely that afternoon in comparison and lacked the aforementioned entertainment, but man!, was it nice.
That is the most descriptive and hilarious hunting story I've heard! You now know what level of skill you are competing with so you should be killing all the bucks soon!! Good luck to you!
@@trumanmiller94 Thanks for the nice words Truman. Think this was descriptive, you should hear the one when I agreed to take my wife “once”! It started with her use of HAIRSPRAY in the truck, and went downhill from there. I’ll spare you the details, but with therapy and the help of a local support group, I managed to recover from that trip.
@@randyporter3491 sounds about like the time I tried that! It was cold out which I had no idea it got cold in the northeast during December but needless to say when we left the woods, I was in a t shirt and she looked like Randy from a Christmas Story! She had all of my warm clothes and I had a warm attitude. Sounds like a win to me. If you care to share another just let it rip
Could you guys do a video of all your current bow set ups? Bow type, arrow spines, broadhead and broadhead grain, poundage etc.. just a thought. I k how you guys have done some like that in past but a current and more specific would be cool. Thanks
I'm hunting in Western north Carolina in the mountains on public land and I don't know where to start especially with mountains and the people. Any help
You guys make extensive use of calls and vocalizations, but I don't think I've seen any of y'all use a bleat can. I certainly could have missed it, but for sure it's not a preferred tool - such as your grunt calls, rattlers, and snort-wheeze. I hunt heavily pressured public land in MS, and I bet the bleat has helped me turn "maybes" into opportunities more often than any of the others. Could just be how, where, and when I hunt.
Killin me with 10 adds guys. I get you need to make money but it makes it impossible to watch a full video unless you have a huge chunk of time to spare. Please reconsider the amount of adds you attach guys. Don't wanna be looked at as sell outs after the rep you've built for yourselves! Keep up the good content but take the adds down a notch. Thanks Guys!
Tactic #3 is exactly how I killed my 1st public land buck , I’ve been seeing scrapes near this bedding area for 2 years only seeing does, 1 hour before dark he stepped out.
I love it. Fits in a Chevy Lol 😂. I helped a lady put her Buck in a brand New Lexus , it still had her temp tags on it. She insisted on it. I couldn’t believe I was putting a deer in a brand new Lexus lol 😂 Nc for ya. Lol 😂
I love these videos and this channel...that said ...them seem to be some stupit deer...yeah I spelled it stupit for extra stupid...deer IQ here in NY is a whole different animal...I need to go out to Iowa Kansas and Illinois...peace
Would like to see yall come south (Florida) we get some 170s in the panhandle. Our deer aren't as big but their hunted twice as hard which makes them quite educated
Honest question - why a ghillie suit, especially one with white jute, while hunting deer? Thought deer see movement, not shapes, and light colors really well?
Got to say, after watching this video I can say with absolute certainty that I’m going to make the transition and put in more work so that I can get a Chevy Impala👍🏼
I’m gonna say this until you guys do it. You need to get Jake Bush on your show. I haven’t seen a guy that has a better success rate in early season on mature bucks on public than this guy. Do it and thank me later.
At 8:33 when the buck spooked, it sounds to me like a bird told on you. As soon as you drew back a bird started making what sounded like a warning call. And the buck perked up as soon as it started.
I love pond areas out with good transition areas from big oaks I love hill side's but then thermals come into play . I have a state land area I love it. It has radish out there now with tall big oaks ask you go in the timbers lots of small rolling hills go down into a giant old drain ditch witch it's thick pond kinda marsh area that is beat with trails and you can tell it's highly traveled and it's deep and far out not many can handle that hike and dragout so there's plenty of mature deer in this area .
Drew my first Iowa whitetail tag this year and will be tackling public land so thank you guys for the video!!!!! You guys keep putting out great material! I appreciate what y’all do!
I hunt a mountain here in Canada, rarely see whitetails but there are monsters ( 14-16 pointers) that I get on camera, BUT only during the night, even into November I'll have midnight pictures of these deer only. Last year was the first year I saw some deer at my stand, only 3 total from about a week in the stand (doe/fawn and a little spike horn). If anyone could offer some advice for hunting scarce timid whitetails in mountains usually in deep snow by the time the seasons halfway through (only 3 weeks long), I would greatly appreciate it. Satellite images are not very clear so it's hard to use for scouting, would like to get a chance at filling the freezer for the first time.
Hunting PineRidges, for example Western, NE. How to scout/pattern/understand deer behavior in the ridges, and how to hunt them. What to look for in setups, and how to scout for these setups. I really struggle to find tips on how to hunt this big landscape, and would love to see some feedback/suggestions. Thanks for all ya’ll do, God Bless.
I always wonder... A well done video like this that provides good useful information on a topic that you're aware of when you click on the title. Who clicks dislike on this? Do anti's go around constantly disliking hunting videos or is it a seriously hard to satisfy individual grading the cinematic content? Ha. It just always seems like there's a small number of thumbs down and I can't help but wonder why.
My Top Tactic for Spring Turkey is to be the Very 1st to Park. Usually that means 3.00am or before. 99% of the time, I will be first and ready to walk that 1 1/4 miles in or more on Public Lands to have that Field to myself-- for awhile- LOL!
Top 10 scouting tips for beginners. How to identify rubs, scrapes, bedding areas, feeding areas, travel routes..... Whether to be concerned with scent control and noise while scouting......
Love the show guys, cheers from Vancouver Island.. I shoot a bear to, mostly by chance but I notice everyone on your show does. Are they your local dealer, or sponsor of show or something? You don't see bear too often out there on videos but also my bowclub, mainly the other big names.. I like mine but will probably upgrade to something a little faster next time. I'm shooting the RTH Bear AUthority and it's a tack driver when maxxed out..
Can you all do some tactics on mountain terrain hunting? I solely hunt in WV and with the harsh terrain, unpredictable wind, and large areas of public lands for deer to disappear never to be seen again, it gets tough. Thanks!
I only hunt WV too. Check out the hunting beast bigwoods video Playlist. Very great info in there. Also, I hunt the river bottoms and kill piles of bucks
Could you guys PLEASE turn your deer tours and turkey tours into DVD's that could be purchased by the followers. I would love to have a copy of the tours to watch on repeat 😆
We would like to see how you guys pack for let's say a public land challenge, or anywhere else you are setting up a campsite. What kind's of food do you bring, do you bring firewood or buy/find your own when you get there? There's only so much room in a vehicle, would love to see what you guys bring as necessities.
Topo tips for finding bedding and funnels/pinch points in big wooded areas...where I hunt in AR it’s all big, hilly woods for days lol hard to find good openings like some of the bedding areas found in these clips...y’all are awesome btw!!
