Saw her perform in South Dakota back in the late 90s. Only about 12 of us in audience. Fell in love with her voice. A unique talent.

This song is a metaphor for my family. I used to feel surrounded by love. Now they’re almost all gone. Sorry but it’s really touching me. Yeah. I’m crying. This is beautiful beyond words.

Love this song but it’s bittersweet as I grew up in rural Nebraska and sadly my town might not even exist when I’m old. When I was young we had a church and a bar and a few small businesses but now it’s just a church and that will go soon as we share a priest with other towns and soon there will be nothing left, and so I’ve said goodbye. I’ll keep the good memories though.

This was the final song on the final episode of Northern Exposure. Also a song that heartachingly reminds me of my original hometown, a place I never wanted to leave but "nothing good ever lasts."
