There is a story about the Rangers that there was a town in north Texas that was experiencing lawlessness and the sheriff asked for the Rangers to send men to help quell everything. When the Ranger arrived, the sheriff asked why there was only one. The Ranger replied "There's only one riot". He took care of it. Texans know you don't fool around with Rangers...the DPS.

I am originally from Brenham, TX. It is the home of Blue Bell ice cream. You can usually get a tour of the plant. If you end up near there, check it out. It is a beautiful little town there. I have to add that in the spring you will see the Bluebonnet flowers, fields of them. They are beautiful. This video made me homesick😢

I lived in Texas for 10 yrs ( based in Houston but traveled around the state a lot) and I LOVED IT! Welcome to America!!! May your days be filled with love and adventure. After Texas, there is a lot more to see on your road to citizenship. Blessings, karen

He also loves it. You picked a good spot. Lots to see. Once the weather warms up you’re not far from the Gulf & fun beach time! I will continue to pray all keeps going well. To become a Texas Ranger you must work at DPS(Dept. of Public Safety) at least 2 years and have an additional 6 years (at minimum) with a law enforcement agency doing criminal investigations. There are several other requirements that must be met... I am so glad that y'all are enjoying living here!!!

When I was a child, long ago, there was a tv show called the Texas Rangers and there theme song These are tales of Texas Rangers. This was in the mid 1950's. The episodes were supposed to be taken from the real life Texas Ranger files. I imagine you can still find it on RU-vid or some of the streaming services.

I just discovered your channel a couple of days ago. As a Texan, I’m thrilled that you picked it for your new home. One other thing that you can look forward to seeing in the spring is the arrival of the bluebonnets. They’re a perennial flower native to Texas. They typically start blooming in March and put on a fabulous display of “neon” royal blue. You can google them ahead of time to get an idea of what to expect.

My great grandfather was a Texas Ranger beginning in 1886. There were pictures of him but they burned in a house fire. He had passed away before I was born, so I did not get to hear about all the cool stories. He worked around Kaufman county as a Ranger and areas around there. I was told he sometimes went to wherever he was needed in Texas.

Lol no I wouldn't go to Cracker Barrel for Chicken fried steak. There are much better places like in Tomball at Goodson's Cafe, Pecos Grilling Company. These 2 places have some of the best Chicken fried steak you will ever eat. All hand breaded and fried , No friozen patties . There is a huge difference in taste. Cracker barrel uses frozen patties.Imho.

@@claranielsen3382 I would agree with you if I was familiar with that part of the country. I named a familiar chain that I’ve seen in most parts of America. It’s not like I would specifically go there myself. But I couldn’t name my local places because they’re on the other side of the country. So, I guess I was trying to provide a rival to his Denny’s country fried steak experience specifically.

@@guccicoupons No worries, hon. The CB chicken fried steak is ok for what it is. One of the absolute best places in Texas for Chicken Fried steak is in Eagle Pass, Texas at the Wagon Wheel restaurant. Omg you will never eat a chicken fried steak at CB ever again after that lol. If you ever get a chance go there. I have actually been thinking about doing you tube videos on the best places in Texas for Chicken Fried steak. Everyone does one BBQ, Tex-Mex, I haven't seen to many on Chicken Fried steak . Lol can you tell that's my favorite food 😋 🤣🤣🤣🤣

So did i hear you're living in Katy, TX? If so, I've got a classmate that lives there. We're originally from SE, IL. Her name is Keri. I don't recall what her married name is, but we went to the same church as teenagers. We used to converse a bit on Facebook Messenger, but she deleted her account for privacy reasons about 10 years ago now. The only time I've ever been in Texas was in 1985 as a 11 year old kid on vacation. We first went down to Galveston for a week, and then drove up to San Antonio, sited tge Alamo, and before we could do the River Walk, a massive thunderstorm came thru the area, which made us skidattle out of there, because it caused some flash flooding. And then from San Antone, we went to White Sands and Carlsbad, NM. Stayed there in Carlsbad for a few days, to see the Caverns and White Sands. Then came back down into Texas to stay at El Paso for a few days at a campground that was at like the first Exit into the state. EXIT 1. Went into Juarez, Mexico. Yeah, one does not simply go into Juarez today, as it's a Cartel Drug Warzone, but in 1985, it was still fairly safe for tourists. Then after El Paso, we went up to the ultimate destination of our trip...Albuquerque, NM. Where my dad had his bi-annual job convention. It was in Colorado Springs in 1983, and then in Portland, ME in 1987. (We made a whole New England trip out of that one...including visiting that white and red lighthouse that you see in all the Maine scenery/nature footage.) But New Mexico up around Albuquerque is beautiful. Now that you're in Texas, you need to do some road tripping around the Southwestern states. You'll love them. Very scenic. I would move to Sedona, AZ if I could. It's about 20 miles south of Flagstaff, AZ, and the road to get to it (Rt 89A) goes thru Oak Creek Canyon, which is lined with pine trees and is a nice little drive in of itself. Kinda weird to see pine tress that far south into the desert. I'm just saying that if you ever get over to see the Grand Canyon, and stay in Flagstaff (as we did), take that little jaunt down to Sedona. It's an awesome littke place settled down in a red rock canyon. The different lighting effects from the sun at differenf times of day on he rock formations is incredible. Lots of great hiking trails there too. Check out any videos on YT about Sedona. And you'll see why i'd wanna move there.

It's so much fun to watch you two become Americans! I love that you are getting into the history. Mikey, you were clearly born in the wrong country! The thing you need to know about the weather in Texas is that once or twice every Winter, the Siberian Express comes through and you get cold like it is now. Often, freezing rain and ice come with it but the good thing is that it doesn't last long. Then you get to the Spring with the hellacious thunder, lightening, wind, and rain and sometimes tornadoes. You will be amazed by it. Again, it blows through quickly since there are no mountains to impede or slow it down. In the Summer you get the horribly oppressive heat and humidity. It's not the heat that is so bad, it's the humidity that makes it so miserable. There is nothing to do but get through it. The best month and season by far is Fall/Autumn when the weather is typically mild.

If you guys want memorabilia stuff from back in the day, plan a route 66 road trip west (or just drive west really). You'll find sooooooo many old, rustic and quirky rest stops/gas stations/little museums. We call them "whole in the wall" places mostly....and no road trip is ever complete without eating the cheap food (like that pizza) found along your way 😃

Most of the original pilgrims took that treacherous journey because they weren't allowed to worship the way they wanted to. Their lives were in danger and had to hide their beliefs. They were puritans and many were persecuted by the church of england and some outright killed. That's why they took a huge "gamble" to come to the "new world." My ancestor came over on the London Merchant. They survived the massacre by the Indians.
