Our Warframe saved our life (spoiler) 

i love how hunhow went from an unstoppable horror capable of wiping us off the face of the earth to "my kids fucking suck, here's a bow to go kill them with"

In The Sacrifice, Ballas mentioned that it was not entirely the Tenno's void powers that made them able to fully connect with the Warframes. It's the fact that the Orokin used real people with the best physical attributes and fed their body a specialized type of infestation (Helminth) that altered their organs and broke their minds. It's torture to them, and this experience is the similar when the Tenno children got lost in the void where most of them died and disappeared. Warframes have minds of their own, and Excalibur Umbra is a testament to that. Though he was kind of a prototype Warframe so he was still able to keep some of his original memories from when he was human.

In the sacrifice, ballas explains how the warframes were made and how before the operators were introduced, there were feral and uncontrollable due to the trauma of becoming a warframe, and that operators werent controlling them, but instead just "taking away their pain" and helping them cope So im guessing our warframe in this scene goes "feral" for some time to act on pure instinct and try to pull out the sword and breaks it

From my understanding warframes and the Tenno are connected in more than just transference. There was an incident where the rhino Warframe began rampaging, and before it got to the room of the dreaming tenno it stopped. frames from what I have seen have some kind of innate desire to protect the Tenno.

I remember having my fuckin decked the fuck out rhino and all I could hear when my rhino grabbed his hand is "you're not that guy pal, you're not that guy!"

I love how umbras quest explains why warframes cherish tenno..they took away their pain. When orokin tortured and denied them humility. Tenno allow them to have a sense of what it was like being human before they became puppets. such an amazing story behind this game.

Hunhow whent from main villain, to "Hey you, tenno drifter guy. My kids are assholes. Take this bow and spank them with it"

The fact we use the sword after this fight is insane. Its like nah, fuck that imma use the shit you tryed to kill me with to fucking destroy you.

How the wf able to move: The original warframe were human with traumatic memory when expose to Infested. Hence why chroma can be feral. Tenno can use wf by coping with this memory (tenno has traumatic experience too). The one we use are the copy with little trace of conscience only able to move for a short time when the trauma triggered/to protect tenno. Umbra were fully conscience because as a dax he can resist the pain while expose to Infested however his traumatic experience were trigger after he killed his son.

I always liked the part "wHaT iS tHiS?"

I had a theory where either the operator controlled the Warframe or the human that is the Warframe used the last of their strength to save the operator

I wish we had more of this. It's cool that Umbra has his own consciousness, but seeing our main warframe come alive and help us during story quests would be awesome

So we know the tenno and warframes can connect via transference and their traumatic memories, allowing the tenno to control them without them feeling pain. However umbra, being basically fully sentient, is still able to move around, as I theorise that he is stronger and has learnt how to bear the pain of free movement (hence why he still doesnt move freely much) All warframes were built from humans infected with the infestations, so they all hold a kind of deactivated consciousness, atrophied and hidden. In this moment the warframe sees the tenno in danger and senses their pain, forcing itself to move to protect them (+ maybe the tenno is trying desperately to burn any transference energy left within it) allowing them to effectively temporarily move limit-break style. My god Warframe has *lore...*

I feel like excalibur is the best warframe for this cutscene imo. It just feels wrong no to use him

When that cinematic hit, I was using Volt after dropping him for Mesa... And now I can hardly use mesa anymore, felt in love with the boy.

The more I look into this the more it feels like I’m just the little sister and they’re big daddies but space ninja-ified

I’m still wondering how the warframe moved and then split the sword

I think this was one of the first clues that our warframes had minds of their own

actually what happens here is along time ago transference bolts (not pirces of metal used to fasten things) were used to lessen the strength of the tenno later on in the story it gets removed and we can transfer and use our void powers more effectively

Warframes have a form of sentience based on Infestation as well. Look into some of the things that the Helminth says to you and you’ll hear how he rebuilds you.

For those wondering how the frame was able to move on its own, Warframes aren't just hunks of metal. They are combinations of metal and flesh, Umbra is more so, but they are similar to golems in some ways. This is why you hear stories of the warframes

THIS SCENE HAD MY EMOTIONS ALL OVER! I really thought they took my warframe out 😅

I think the we, the Operator controlled the frame in this scene, we controlled it troughout the whole quest after we reconnected with it, after waking up.

I just felt like Warframes could move on their own but chose not to because it hurts them, when we use transference we take away their pain and they obey our command. I think the warframe just moved on their own and broke the sword because they are grateful to not always be in eternal pain

Spoiler. In curent lore we know that when warframes be made their minds are in a complete mess and before teno came to be Orokin would just release them in the general direction of an enemy and hope for the best. When teno came to be both the childs unstable soul and warframes uncontrolable soul combined in to a trainquility where both could be at peace. Warframes don't tell their though but we don't know if they are thinking anything. We don't know for sure but for me I think and am pretty sure that warframes are a living beings and teno is their drug to keep them sain. They were probably feeling like their drug supply will be cut short so they mustered all what they had into controling for that short periode of time and saved then teno in that plot twist evwnt of Second dream. It's actually really creepy to think that we as teno are controling living being into doing whatever we lease to do. Unlike umbra who attacked me few times when playing tenno xD

2 theories, either the warframes are still somewhat aware or the void demon used transference itself. Either way if our tenno was hurt by stalker, literally NOTHING would have happened, we would just reset later and the fact that we know that now is so funny

Imagine going back to this quest with Umbra, and this scene changes to Umbra standing up, knuckling up, and throwing down with Stalker. Then the scene converts into a round of Frame Fighter!

⚠️Spoilers about the new war: Personally I thought that it was the Warframe "leftover consciousness" that was kicking but some french RU-vidr named Ariasalty (go see his lore videos they're awesome) had a really interesting theory. He was saying that with eternalism we know that duviri starts at the same time as our Warframe waking up (the awakening) and at the same time as the new war (he is basing himself on eternalism to explain that if we follow that theory the 3 events may unfold at the same time (but his video is way more clear than my explanation)) and later in the video he talks about the d who seems to knows way to much about our universe and to know some people (lotus, hunhow, and he seemed to know us) and that he probably went to our universe before tnw wich lead us to the second dream he explains that maybe it was the drifter that took control of the Warframe to break the sword.

After 700h on this game...this scene still hit powerfully

I still don't understand how our Warframe manages to move on his own in this scene because I'm kinda dumb, but it's still one of the most epic moments I've ever seen.

The scar sigil is permanently attached to my frost prime after this scene. Honor your allies.

Damn… I never thought I could miss the past world so damn much till I started fingering through Warframe content recently. I wish we could relive the past just for a couple months sometimes…

This was the moment, when i realized the frames were not just armor but they themselves were living beings, a infested bio armor which housed an individual.

I just finished the Second Dream last night, that quest was absolutely amazing

When Khora grabbed that sword I fell in love. Now I have many warframe but nothing hits like Khora.

The first time i saw this, I just thought the operator is just one side character, LOl.

This was such a great moment in Warframe… I’ll go back eventually.

You gotta put a whole 3 seconds of just the word spoilers. I got a whole clan of new people who don’t have any idea about after the second dream and war within stuff.

I have A suspicion that it’s just like the Drifter stopping A corrupted Teshin. Same situation and everything. Considering the Drifter is the operator as well as the personification of Schrödinger’s cat (In which the cat both lived and died until viewed, displaying what technicians would call A Qubit in its earliest form.), if the operator were to be choked by Stalker, the Drifter, by way of quantum bullshittery, would also be choked, and if the Drifter were to control the idle Warframe to save himself, the operator, by proxy, would do the same. Plus, the Drifter reattains their latent Void powers soon after (Just in that part, though…), and so does the operator depending on how fast you complete quests… I’m placing my bet on the operator saving himself, but who knows? Maybe there’s another Tenno out there, supervising us beginners…

this quest made me love oberon even more (pre-rework).

Lol seeing this cutscene with a fully decked out fashion frame is hilarious when thinking back to my almost base skin mirage i had in this quest.😂

I feel like this scene implied what would be revealed about the warframes in The Sacrifice, that to a degree, they’re all sentient because they were people once.

After playing Duviri I have to wonder… was that the Drifter meddling from The Other Side?

Broken war should have been dual swords, and I’ll fight people over this

back then when i was still new i was so traumatized by playing the solaris united quest, it sent me to the open world where the enemy levels are in 30s, while i expect lvl 5 enemies. So after that, i straightly bought trinity prime, that accompanied me through my early wf journeys, including the second dream

I really just thought the operator was controlling the warframe tbh since the operator slums to the ground after being dropped

Technically that’s not the drifter. Drifter is future and on a different plane. That is when you are the Tenno. Unless ofc you chose to keep your operator as the drifter after completing that campaign.

Our warframe can probably not mover when we are controlling the tenno, but when we are really in danger, our warframe always save us

It just struck me that at the end the motion that the stalker made the same motion that warframes make when you self-revive.

A warframe will do anything to save it's operator. To them loyalty and honor is everything. Sentients call them pupets but we all know they are more than just a suit for a overpowered child. I just love Warframe Lore. Also Excalibur Umbra exists for a reason, terribly sad but a reason none the less.

Wish we got a sliced frame skin. Something like the damaged umbra and valkyr helmets

I believe that the reason why the warframe acted on his own is because the tenno still had some control over it. If the tenno can sense and teleport to his warframe without the transference chair, it is possible that he can do simple actions without transfering.

This raised so many questions in release, as I always remember this moment rather than our awakening. But this scene still bugs me to this day, even after the sacrifice and was never answered. Was it our Warframe acting in accordance with its own sentience to break the sword, muscle memory from our operator inprinting onto the frame, or that our operator acheived symbiosis with the frame where weve become the same entity?

I don't know how this happened, but knowing what Warframes used to be, I wonder what the lore explanation is for being able to build them in the foundry.

I thought this years ago stalker being hinted at turning good between this part how he almost seems like he is stalling and also when he is literally sent to kill your operator and is about to he looks at himself as hunhow says “apparently your hatred is too weak” and stalker leaves as the sentiments are sent to kill you instead

A lot of people are are confused on Warframes and their sentience. Ill make it easy for you to understand. Umbra is special, he has some of his memories left from when he was human, that's why he has sentience. No, not a single other warframe(not even the originals nor the primes) have sentinece, the moment the infestation took over their bodies they turned into mindless beasts, uncontrollable, memories erased and free will eradicated. Until the orokin found out the Tenno could soothe the beasts and control them. Umbra = Sentient because kept some memories thanks to Ballas wanting to torture him. EveryOtherWarfrane = not sentient. Puppets. Mindless beasts still able to vaguely act. Even the originals.

When i saw this I thought the tenno was just slightly shifting consciousness but a lot of people are saying the warframe was sentient. I dunno, I thought only umbra was an everything else was a copy

I have a fan theory that I admittedly I haven't done research to see if it makes sense,but what if the warframe test subjects apart from umbra are the older versions of the tenno that were sent back in time via some void nonsense.?
