Signing Cabral when he’s slumping could be good. I think you have some guys in your bullpen who can start- maybe one of them could be 5th starter? I’m not sure I’d give up on the season yet, but I’d certainly be willing to consider selling at the deadline. Just remember that some guys you can get draft compensation for, like Colt Keith.
I am nowhere near considering selling yet... but I am pretty stubborn! Unfortunately it looks like Cabral is now looking for $140 million over 9 years... so I may just enjoy him through his arb years unless things change!
Well after a great start that was a rough May. Must have been one of your worst double runs of losses I would think. But its been a nice a recovery since so hopefully June can see us get back into positive territory. Lara, Soderstrom and Rincon have been big disappointments so far so maybe Arakawa is someone to consider if things don't pick up. Good to see Stubblefield come back from a disappointing start and look a bit more like the player we saw in the playoffs last year. Finally we are seeing Ortega start to blossom 😊 if he can continue that form and some of the more experienced players like Lara, Rincon and Soderstrom can pick it up there's still a great chance to make a nice run before the break. Really unusual to see your bullpen be the weak point of the pitching but that's what it seems in this initial part of the season. 11th in starter ERA 😮
Yeah, the blueprints we put together have not quite worked out yet, but I think there is some upside here, and our Pythagorean record says that as well. Definitely need to improve some things, but I think we have some options internally as you noted, and cash to bring on some rentals as we approach the trade deadline!
Really rollercoaster season so far. Definitely explore trades of soderstrom and maybe Lara, but I doubt they have all that much value, unfortunately. What ended up happening with that player you had to promote within 30 days?
It looks like they both still have some value, clearly driven more by their ratings and reasonable contracts more than their performance this year! I forgot about him while doing the episode and he opted out, but he was only in AAA with the Cleveland organization. So I had to trade for him to get him back due to my negligence, but fortunately it only took a very good AAAA guy (our former starting RF Lawrence Butler) to get him back. So no harm, no foul... I meant to bring him up before 30 days, but when I start doing the video for the episodes I kind of lose track about actually playing the game properly...
Wow. rocky ride through first two months of the season, but I have a feeling that we will pull through and get to the playoffs. OOTP has its way to make us scratch our heads, but after seeing Joe DiMaggio bat .119 with 300 PAs and after this awful start making it to .275 I've started to belive more in my players/teams to have good season after bad start. Anyway, maybe consider switching Lee back to closer if Nardi is blowing saves.
