So the first thing I thought of when I saw 2014 draft being bad was, at least a pretty good current Phillie, meaning their own pick, Nola, is good. And then to find 3 other current Phillies who are also decent players was a bonus.

There was a time when I lived in East Texas and I would often stop in Shepherd on my trips to Houston, since it's a nice and quaint little town. So I was pretty excited when Tyler Kolek was drafted second overall. It's a shame that Tyler's career never materialized, and the fact that Stephen was able to Majors this season may be one of life's greatest ironies. Anyways, fun video.

The most enduring image of Nick Gordon I have is him smacking the top of the Target Field dugout in celebration when Royce Lewis smashed a home run in the 2023 postseason. I get this class is weak and you need HOF players but I think it’s unlikely either Nola or Turner make the hall. They will both be close but I don’t think either make the cut. Nola has a better shot for sure, with the control he’s got I can picture him pitching until he’s 40 maybe longer. My knock on Turner is that I don’t know how he’s gonna age. He’s really gonna have to rely on his bat in about 2 years. His bat is awesome but the speed is also a big part of his game, can’t picture his legs and subsequently his defense aging super well.
