With the new version of OOTP finally live, we take a look at who the New York Yankees could get in return for Anthony Volpe, Nestor Cortes, and Giancarlo Stanton at various trade difficulties available in the game.
Agreed, the new development system is a major change (and hopefully enhancement)! Putting out a play by play of my first hour playing around with that shortly!
I may get 25 at some point, but not now. I play primarily (right now) in OOTP24 as a field manager and not the GM. From that point of view, it doesn't seem like there would be any rush to go out and buy the new version.
I'm kind of the complete opposite, playing almost entirely as GM, but from my understanding of the games I have played out in OOTP, I think your reasoning is sound!
Interesting video, thanks for the first look....i will probably buy in a month or so when obvious bugs are worked out. And yes, there should be an injury status beyond wrecked for stanton ("glass"?). Corbin's contract in ootp22 was actually worse than stanton's here.....i think i'd try to keep him at dh if i sim with the yankees.
Ha, DH for Stanton is probably a good idea... and trying to use the new Player Development Lab to try to turn back time on his fragility, to the extent it's possible!
Shame on you. Family don't know. Well it was OOTP release day, so in many houses we got folks taking a day off I think. 😜 These days living in Europe, it's the same for me on day after Super Bowl. That Monday is toast and haven't worked a single one for the last +25 years. My colleagues always wondered why, since NFL isn't that big over here (back then, but its growing fast) These days I don't care since I'm retired. 😊
I do think the settings are similar, but easier setting will often allow you to do 'add ins' that the harder settings won't. Usually that means a middling or attractive prospect tacked on to the trade. It would also be worth looking at package differences. Still, I don't think it's crazy, that's when you play with no feedback ha!
That's a good point, the lower settings will definitely be easier to exploit. I'm not really advocating for really easy trade settings, but based on what I looked at, I don't think it's worth spending a lot of time stressing out about whether to play at 10 versus 12 or 18 versus 20. Package differences would be interesting!
Found one thing in new OOTP that I liked. OOTP now at last have thought on the minor leagues and how the AI moves players. It has implemented (what I can see from the first setup standard) a year limit based on experience on all leagues from A+ and below. The very same as I have pushed for in your Wings series. Perhaps even harder limits. Have a look. Maybe they will look into a max amount of players one can have in the minors in the future. But I take one step at a time. Still the jury of this is still out I guess. AI might still hord players on some levels. Glad OOTP devs have at least taken a small look at this. There is hope.
