Definitely going to be more careful and thoughtful about what I try to do when I am playing for real!

man I love watching you go into every detail about your team so if you ever have or move up a series from ootp24 or start a new one i'm absolutely gonna watch every episode especially with the new ratings and seeing how you pick the players for the development lab!

Thank you, I appreciate it! Playing around with the Yankees for a couple weeks in 25 now, and then I will start a longer series that is more challenging, likely in early April after a couple more patches for the game.

They had a similar feature in Season Ticket Baseball - the forerunner of OOTP. For hitters, with no power to begin with, I would completely ignore training on power and try to make their contact, gap, and and speed all the more ridiculous.

Interesting... I think that's probably the angle I'd try here too...

Thank you, I am too... probably still a couple weeks from the long play starting, seems like there are still some tweaks likely needed from the developers right now.

Check out the A's. They have a fan interest of 15. What a dumpster fire! Last year it was 30, and that was a long row to hoe.They have the leagues lowest budget, lowest fan interest, smallest market size, terrible farm system, and a penny pinching owner. I played them last year, and it was fun. But I'm not sure I want to go down that road again. It is the toughest challenge though.

They are still on my short list... I feel they've been done to death over the past few years by others, which is holding me back a little, but agree they are likely the biggest challenge.

I actually feel sorry for folks in Oakland. Raiders are gone and soon A's will be gone too. What a meltdown for this city. Soon they will tear down the Coliseum for sure.

@@merrileemurphy6989 Marlins would be a good challenge for sure, but I played them in OOTP 22, so I'm probably not going to do them again so soon.

@@stanleyrosella7042 Yeah, both of those franchises had some great success there, but it's a long time ago for both. Raiders were an iconic NFL franchise, maybe they still are, and they have left Oakland twice now!

love the new player development you can make a killer 2 pitch reliever

also i find if someone is like 65+ range no need to have it maxed out that stat in development and allows you to focus on others aspects of the players game
@tyresemorgan2752

and i changed the number of allowed players in the lab to 10 i find 6 way to little especially for longer saves where you have more top prospects you’d like to develop and and a couple older guys to work on

It's definitely going to be fun to play with, hopefully it will end up being a great addition!

@@tyresemorgan2752 I hear you... 20 seemed a little silly, not that I was thinking about it too deeply, but with six you can't even work on one player from each team in your organization. I might line it up that way... every organization has at least seven teams (MLB, AAA, AA, A+, A, R, R-DSL), and some have multiple rookie or DSL teams, so maybe I'll settle on eight?

Hmmm. I think Cole has worked on his cutter lately and it should be rated higher.

Hey OSS, haven't been sharing my thoughts for a while but wanted to comment on the pitchers in OOTP 25 since you kind of touched on it a bit in your video. You were looking at Mr. Cole's pitches and scratching your head about the quality level of these pitches and I've been doing the same... If you look at a Spencer Strider or others of his ilk, they still has these 80 quality pitches we all know and love but for the 40-45 overall pitchers their pitches look absolutely crazy. Take a look at Cal Quantrill on the Rockies! A 45 overall SP (so slightly below average) but has 5 pitches... 3 of which are 35/35 and are his BEST pitches, the other 2 being 20/20. I know he's not Spencer Strider, but shouldn't a 45 overall pitcher have at least ONE major league average pitch?!?!? If you have come up with an explanation for this new OOTP would love to hear it. :) Otherwise we may have to just start paying more attention to the Stuff/Movement/Control numbers and largely ignore the pitches themselves? Thanks for the videos OSS... I try to watch them all (time permitting) so keep them coming!

Thanks, appreciate you watching. I have seen some MLB players with really weird pitch quality also... Marcus Stroman right now has six pitches, and they are all 30 or 35 quality... and Quantrill in this game is 20, 25, 30, 30, 35... very weird. I assume they will get it figured out in the next week or two!

On that cutter experiment I wonder if Cole will stop throwing that pitch. All talk about adding pitches, but if a pitcher got a really bad one maybe it's best to not using it. Never figured out in old versions what would happen if one really bad pitch was "deleted" from a reportoire. Stuff might gone down, but surely no really bad pitch would be thrown. I go back a long time and in old days I'm sure it was totally the amount of pitches that was crucial, not what sort of pitches. Question now if OOTP have taken this to the next level that makes certain pitches enduce a certain type of hits more or less. Reason is the detail setting to train on different pitches and even on movement and control. I do hope they haven't added so many fine details that it will mess up the overall. Too many knobs to adjust can get it crazy. Still this dev lab could be used highly in the International complex with those new kids. That's where stuff happens IRL. After that it's more fine tuning. That is if OOTP could add some "coaches" to this "school" and not just have it overall. Hm, add a pitch ? Can't you fixed which type ? We all know how certain pitching coaches always teach certain pitches to pitchers that joins clubs. Many of them very famous over the years. (Roger Craig and his splitter, didn't Mel Stottlemyre teach Mariano Rivera his cutter ? Next step for OOTP is perhaps this cutter thing. It's mostly learned in later years by pitchers I understand) New position for players in the field is a bit limited. Should be clear on what position. (Scotty Hatteberg in A's perhaps 😃Think he got frustrated at first) Nice to see, as in ones own golf, starting to mess with the swing can ruin a lot and wreck the season 🤕 But overall the Dev Lab looks cool and is massive. Lets hope it doesn't breaks the game. (Wondering how the AI-run teams will handle this, very complicated) One thing is that now the period from end Dec to Spring training will be busy busy not only with signing Free Agents. That's cool.

There is definitely a lot to think about in the development lab, and agree there could be some really interesting enhancements going forward now that it is in place! I also worry a little that it could "break" the game, but they've already been through a lot of testing, and if something comes up I'm sure they'll try to balance it out with a patch. From my perspective as preferring the GM aspect of the game, this is potentially the biggest addition in the past several years!

I wonder if a player's injury proneness can actually be improved via the development lab. It has always be a downward spiral.
@oldschoolsports
@oldschoolsports 4 месяца назад
I think it would be interesting if that could happen... but not too many people get stronger or healthier with age and wear and tear, so if it can happen I'd hope it's pretty low probability.

Cole just won a Cy Young Award... but his pitch ratings look like he's a fourth or fifth starter to me... I'm sure I'll figure out what I'm missing eventually!

Nah, the ratings are nothing new. The contact rating has always been a combination (not necessarily 50-50) of BABIP and Avoid K's. Now, they are showing us the under the hood look of what has previously been transparent. Same with the Movement for pitchers.

I must have misspoke, I know those ratings have always been there, just not displayed publicly.
