Waukesha engines were pretty good runners. I like the Waukesha script on the radiator. I think they had side panels also but that would be the first thing a farmer throws on the junk pile.Al B.

I'm glad you shared your very accurate knowledge of Ladau pkg. standard options. I have a very original low mileage 76 Landau equipped just like the brochure states.with bench seat. 60/40 recliner was optional. I have 3 parts cars ,One is a very original 77 Landau with plain chrome bumpers? Maybe dealer delete option order car?

@@richceglinski7543 I'm no expert but I worked at a Chevy dealer during this time + one of my jobs was checking vehicles dropped off by Anchor Motor Freight for any damages. So I got to see what was on the window stickers. During 1973 1974 Monte Carlos were in demand. My dealer had it's own leasing company, so he could order new Monte Carlos as a "leased" car. And he loaded them with as many options as he could because he knew they would sell. GM back them loved the options as people kept adding them on when ordering a car. The Monte came standard with plain bumpers. You could order the impact strip front and rear, also bumper guards F & R. It was rare to see a standard Monte without a vinyl roof back then. The landau had the 1/2 roof standard. The Landau sold very well as people wanted those little extras the Landau offered. Out Montes and Chevelles came from either Baltimore MD or Oshawa Canada. Boy have times changed!

@@jamesthompson8008 I was in high school and bid on one that the farmer had stored in a shed. The sheetmetal was perfect. I ran it up to $300 but the other guy had more money then me lol! The only other one I've seen a friend had in his collection. AL B.

@@sallybrokaw6124 This is not my story, but of a cousins buddy out in Washington or Idaho back in the 70s; apparently the guy had befriended an older farmer at the waning years of his life. The farmer was dispersing various items in anticipation of retirement home life. One of the pieces of equipment that didn't sell was an old JD boLindemann crawler that I think was stuck. But he offered it to the guy for free if he'd just be able to save it from the scrapman; however the guy had no way to move it or store it & had to pass. At the time my cousin shared the story(roughly 30 yrs ago) he still couldn't help but hang his head in his hands.

When you need the transmission and don't care about the rest of the vehicle, you take your loader and tip the car on its side and take the transmission out while standing up. Lots more comfortable working while standing than laying on your back in the dirt and leaves.

They might rust a bit more at our areas, but we do end up selling them or at least parts.

Unfortunately the 60s Ford truck had caught fire and burned completely out. Decades of fire damaged metal sitting in the elements left it corroded pretty bad. It was so disappointing that I didn't even remember to get much of any footage of it.

A follow up to my comments yesterday, about the GTO, guys, I have just learned that the GTO, is still alive 😀 Yeah, I had contacted the owner's son of the dealer, put the remains in storage. It took him over 25 years, but she is finally ready for painting 🖼 🤗🤑 over almost 30 years!

The Chevette was the first throwaway car, and many people did just that!
