I explored an abandoned junkyard in Tampa, Florida, complete with snakes and alligators, to bring you HEMI cars, antique fire trucks, rows of classics and trailers full of old car parts. Plus, it's all for sale! Enjoy!
You're a good narrator (tour guide) and well worth a subscription. Amazing that the cars are still holding parts, I carry a shovel most of the time here in Texas. Just jab and divide.
I've just recorded the 2nd video in the series. The land is zoned multi-use, so it is used as residential in the front and business in the back. Wait til you see what is in the barns!
When I was 16, 17 my buddy and I used to go to Butler Pennsylvania, and dream in all the junkyards. He had a 63 Nova he bought for $50. I still remember the smell in the old junkyards. What with the EPA and all I doubt our kids and grandkids will ever smell that manly smell!
New subscriber here. I love abandoned junkyard videos!! I'm 55 and live in cold ass MN. Can't stand the cold anymore, but the creepy crawlers, snakes and alligators? That's too much! 😃
I'm trying to make as many videos as I can right now so you can watch over the cold months. I used to live up north, so I totally understand. Thanks for watching!
@@MNWILD43 When they got me, I couldn't get up for a while. They fired me up for almost 30 minutes before I could do anything. I had hundreds of bites. It was insane.
Awesome video! Subbed! Hey try bringing a small battery operated weed wacker with you in those situations so you can get closer to some of the vehicles. It will be the perfect snake murderer, plus you'll gain points with the owner of the property doing a little path clearing for them at the same time 🤣
Hey, I know Bob. He's cool, but crazy. I need to go see him. He has some fantastic autos there. He loves fire trucks. He came in my store one day and said he just hot back from Illinois. He bought an old fire truck and drove it straight back home. LOL. It was like 50 years old.
@@jeffdaniels958 I did a bit of research. The chassis was made by Stewart. The box and interior appear to be hand-built. Wooden furniture inside it looks to have been made just for the trailer. I bet it was sooooo cool when it was built!
I did the same ting initially. I must have driven by it 10 times without stopping. I finally got the nerve to drive back to the owner's house. Nicest guy ever. Old Navy veteran and lifelong car guy. Thanks for watching!
Good tutorial on what to watch out for to be safe , up here in Canada we get super cold winters -37 and colder on the Celsius scale , i plan to retire soon from the oak barrel business and winter in Florida , I realize now thanks to your video to watch out for copperheads and fire ants , I like your narration as well , nice sounding voice , I just subscribed
Thank you so much for the kind words! I later learned that the area is known for water moccasins, not copperheads. I guess we both learned something! I hope your retirement comes asap and that you have many years of relaxation and happiness afterward. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
The car that you said you needed a little help identifying that was a fat fender body style was either Chevy or Pontiac from 39 back to 37. I had a 39 Chevy 2 door Sedan Deluxe but it’s been 20 years since I sold it so I can’t remember if that bodystyle went back to 36 or not. Great yard and cool video. 👍
There used to be a yard like this over off Dale Mabry by the east edge of the airport. There was a 34 Chrysler Airflow in it that had a large tree growing up through the engine bay. It too is long gone. There's still a yard up above Dade City in Trilicootcchi that's closed but the owner will still sell things if you can catch the gate open.
It's in the video called Abandoned Junkyard Barn Finds!I I put the complete cars in that video. I was running long on this video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
As a 3rd generation Tampa native,in my 50s , I've never seen copper heads this far south.. diamond backs maybe.. get in there and dig around!!!! You'll hear them
Just a note about the leaf springs that appear to be wrapped in metal. l helped a buddy rebuild a 52 Jag and the springs were wrapped in leather and packed with axel grease.
In aussie, that is an xb coupe falcon, in the 70s an aussie muscle car. Came out here factory 351, think mad max. Out here she fetch upwards 150 k. Mate had one early 80s. Scary ride under it full on , 2nd pulling 3rd ya needed some nuts, and that was the passenger side. Thanks for the mems.

RU-vid, angry man gtho. Old film aussie touring car round, the lil quick car a , what we call torana, a six but lite Quick car, again take some nuts to steer em like that. But the falcon the gtho 351 Shacker. Yeah well watch it, he can steer to.
I'm often amazed by how quickly the earth reclaims things. Rust and vines literally pull entire vehicles back into the ground. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Do you recall ever seeing a 67 Mercury Cougar in your travels? I had a neighbor that had a shared driveway with his next door neighbor. The one guy bought a first year Mustang convertible and the neighbor eventually bought a 67 Cougar convertible. In this case, the Trews were keeping up with the Meyers. Eventually, Mr. Meyers bought a gorgeous green 70 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with the biggest engine offered
I saw a 67-ish Cougar in a video by Vice Grip Garage yesterday. I think he called the video Behind The Scenes. That's the only one I've seen recently. Cool cars. Thanks for watching!
@@mohawkgarage They messed up the styling starting in 68. The taillights on the 67 bulged outward and starting in 68 they bulged inward. With the (problematic) hidden headlights I think there may have been a choice between pneumatic and hydraulic but don't hold your breath you are too young to have issues. Wait till your 61 like me! My first car was a 66 Pontiac Gran Prix with the 389. Got some speed but the brakes were useless. About 26 days after I bought it I used a wall and a tree to stop it (bad tires after a rain). I really didn't have it long enough to form an opinion. My mechanic and my neighbor both said they were temperamental when cold. They both were right. Now as far as those copperheads go, I wear some high cowboy boots> Living in cattle country I think there is something you can wear on the bottom of your pant legs. I couldn't get out this summer but I have a 61 year old German Walther P38 to make me (feel) safe!
The Dodge pickup is not a D100 (1/2 ton). the 8 lug full float rearend would be a 200 (3/4)or possibly 300 (one ton). Also, D is for two wheel drive but if its 4x4 (can't see in the video) that would be a W series. Thanks for the awesome video, the little yards like this are disappearing and at least you are saving them in a way we can all enjoy.
The owner (who recently passed on) was from up north. His son told me that he and his dad drove many of the trucks down all the way to Florida! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Have a great day!
Man while in Tampa going south on 301 you'll come into riverview. On the south end of town there is a road called Rhodine Rd.if you turn left there and go about 3-4 miles on your left was an old junkyard called can -am auto salvage. Well ,, there was when I grew up about 4 miles on east from it. I wonder if it is still out there . They had great inventory
Well, I checked it out. I found the road it was on. I asked a man who lived in a house right off the road about it. He said it had been totally gone for about 10 years. I drove to the back, and it is totally gone. There's not a bumper, a pile or anything whatsoever. That's why I'm trying to document these places. They are disappearing every day.
I would love to see that place in the dead of your winter. I would find a three or four pack to get to restore. You would be surprised what could be saved.
Winter in Florida doesn't get much colder, but we will occasionally have a night in the 40s or 30s. I'm working on getting a couple of cars for myself. Thanks for watching!
After this video, I found out that the owner had warned me about water moccasins, not copperheads. There's a picture of a huge water moccasin that he killed in the third video. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I was wrong about the copperheads. The owner had told me to watch out for water moccasins. Also, I didn't realize until we used the drone that we were pretty far from the swamp. The gators and water moccasins tend to stay close to the water. I'm fine with letting them have their space! Thanks for watching!
55 or 56 Mercury Montclair. My uncle owned a red and black one. Oregon district is in Dayton. That's where I'm from. Went to Wilbur Wright High School. I think the fire truck older maybe an American LaFrance Ladder Truck. If that was a 1970 T 37 Lemans that was a plain Jane high performance car.
Everything you have shown me is awesome as heck. I have a friend who lives down there. Single mother and I think that she is a nurse now was in school last time I talked to her about the time of your video! Be careful I am going to watch then comment! God bless you.
@@willybones3890 GM didn't change much on their cars from 1970 to 1972. I've always been a Corvette guy, and those 3 years are extremely similar. I guess the Pontiac lineup was the same way. Thanks for watching!
I owned two of them back in high school. I had a 1966 four-door and a 1965 convertible. They were slow, but I loved them! Thanks for watching and commenting!
That is a modified 1971 Ford Torino GT. You can see it in the third video, when I feature all of the cars in the barns. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just subscribed, not seen your work before. I enjoy taking stills of old fire apparatus and you surecaught some good ones. Any chance you would be willing to share the location? I am in the county just north of Tampa
The rust free ones are stolen! It's the lookout for revanuars . That murc could be a Packard. Edward sissor hands was filmed about 30 miles north ! It is real sir! Dart! Wow the old homestead. I wonder who fixed it up. I forgot my penthouse mag when we lived there last week. I see. 11. Ferns were big in the 70s. Know what I mean fern! God bless Y'ALL!!
The type of video only guys could love. That was excellent. I do wish you hadn't gone by the couch so quick though. It was difficult to see any markings that would have identified the make, model or year But I'm suspecting its a 72 Broyhill
@@mohawkgarage My Pleasure. That was a great find. Just a shame that the fellows who HAVE all this classic iron just begging to be saved, instead choose to hide it away like this.
@@rf396 Believe it or not, every single thing in the video is for sale. Every car, every taillight, every fire truck, trailers... His contact info is in the Barn Cars video.
@@mohawkgarage Well at least there is that. Most of the guys that have this stuff refuse to part with it, die anyway, then someone either scraps it or lets it go anyhow. nice to know you CAN buy some stuff. Although The Omni should have just rolled out of the factory and into the junkyard to begin with. Cant imagine anyone wanting one of those EVER.
There is or at least there was a property in Plantation Acres Plantation Fl. that was like this.I did residential home construction in there. The owner of the property was eccentric and had like 30 cars on the property...mostly in the back yard. Under the roof in the circular driveway was a mid 1920s Willys Knight large sedan motor car....with boxes caving in the canvas roof...and the car was filled with boxes and trash. Car still looked in decent shape. He also had a 1965 Olds F85 next to the barn under a roof as well...same thing...boxes on the roof and in the car. The city made him clean up the property. Not sure what became of all the vehicles there. Oddly enough...he drove a mid 90s T-bird. I did approach the resistance one time and the wife?? I believe answered the door and I asked if the Willys Knight was for sale and she did ask the gentleman and it was $9k in 2004 or 2005. There is hidden treasure all over. Luckily with personal drone tech today...it's easier to search suspect area's of interest.
Going out on a limb, and I don't have much to go on, but I believe the car at 24:52 is approximately 1980 vintage Chrysler Cordoba, Dodge Mirada or Plymouth RoadRunner. Interesting find, especially if it is the Cordoba LS. I've seen one with SUPER CMX on the lower front fender, not sure what this is supposed to signify.
My uncle bought a Dodge Magnum brand new in 1980. It broke several transmissions in a couple of years. Looked cool though! Clear headlight covers, white interior with dark blue paint... Thanks for watching!
@@mohawkgarage Sounds like your uncle's had the 904 trans, a 727 wouldn't have done that. I'm more a classic GM fan than Mopar, but still dig cool Mopars. Was always partial to the 83-84 Mirada myself, but the Cordoba was just as stylish at one point, virtually the same car. Would love to have either of those in that style. Of course, I'd probably do something dumb like drop a 440 or 426 Hemi in it and get my killing done.
@@mohawkgarage I know a guy who rescued a 62 Dodge Polara with a 361 from a junkyard. Push button trans set up on that car as well. Very little of Chrysler's 60s-70s styling really appealed to me, but I can't deny they had some pretty damn strong engines to make up for it. I, for one, never understood why so many thought the 58 Fury/Savoy/Belvedere (it was all three LOL) in Christine was an ugly car, I thought it was very cool. Now THAT'S a car worthy of saving.
i grew up in Calumet City a suburb of Chicago and remember that fire truck. i'd like to view that truck. that would be great. where in Tampa? I now live in Leesburg,FL. not to mention the parades that it was in and a part of.
Just watch the 3rd video in this series. It's called Abandoned Junkyard Barn Finds. The information is at the end if it. Glad it brought back some memories for you! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know what you mean. I think it's a case of customers abandoning it. Not many people in this area still look for that kind of stuff. The land is becoming worth far more than the cars. Thanks for watching!
Wow, quick reply to my post, thanks. I just subscribed to your channel. I've got a question, the lead in still on this vid is an interesting looking Torino. Do you have a video with that car? I love these old mid size vehicles. Thanks again for the quick response.
Cool video thanks! Yeah me too! I’m curious to see this Torino! Looks like someone slapped on Shelby Mustang scoops! Would be great to see this car. Is it in this video? I scanned through and didn’t see it? Thanks!
The trucks are absolutely for sale. I didn't look very closely at the 1958, but I can check it out more closely the next time I'm there. Thanks for watching!
Cool, afternoon. Why don't you call that fire Chicago I would bet they would like buy and renovate that old fire truck for out front & parade and the city mayor would be intrested as it a positive history thing. And you you pictures it in very well external shape.
At 411 South Main St. Wetumpka Al, 36092 the Wetumpka Fire department has repurposed an old fire engine to be a centerpiece in a flowerbed and even hooked up the lights to work at night. Not sure about the year. My dad says it's a 40's model.

I know of a place I am not going to say where or when I'm going to do a video if I could even find it again but is that about 3 hours away from where I live and I can't remember what I went down there for when I went down there to buy something out of state from where I live but there's a guy that's got about Forty Acres I have some pictures of some of the cars and some of the stuff that was left down there I haven't been down there in about 5 years and it'll be going on 6 so we will see they would love to see this place this guy has all kinds of stuff that has been sitting in the same spot for years one thing that really interest me was an old Chevy truck monster truck with all the original chrome and stuff from the mid too early 80s and then another car didn't interest me was a old Lincoln I believe it was from the mid-to-late seventies I'm thinking they were sitting in the garage one of the garages that was on the property he said since the 1980s and hasn't been touched like drove anything it's just crazy his dad had all kinds of cars and money
I had a friend who was a Studebaker fan. I knew there was a 47 and a 49 sitting in the middle of a field. There used to be a barn there. He bought both of them for $150 but had to get rid of them due to a divorce
Yes. The owner told me several years ago that it was being sold. Neighborhoods are springing up all around it. It's just a matter of time. I hope they can make lots of money. Thanks for watching!
Just so ya know, copperhead snakes are one of the least deadly of venomous snakes and their heads are so small that they would basically need a small finger to bite. They most certainly cannot bite through jeans or even a bare leg. Now an Eastern diamondback that's one to be careful you don't step on him.
@@mohawkgarage I'm sure he's probably right and they're in there but as long as you don't corner one they're just as afraid of you as you are them. Reptiles like most animals size you up quickly and know when you're too big to fool with. I would be more afraid of large alligators and Florida has a lot. Best advice is not to go back there during mating season. That's when they move around on dry ground. You can normally hear a males moan for a long way off. It sounds like a four cylinder with a dynomax exhaust far off in the distance. Be safe!
The video was running long, so I put all of the barn cars in this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5iA13F5H0MU.html Thanks for watching and commenting!

Thanks for the information! I remember seeing those trucks years ago. I've always heard that chickens will eat just about anything. I've heard pigs are even less picky. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just found your channel and subscribed, very cool stuff. I like that diversity of it,a little of everything. That Ward La France truck is awesome! Do you think he would sell it? It would be the baddest ratrod!
Just for future reference, there are no copperhead snakes this far south. Only a couple small areas way up north in Florida. Probably rat snakes being mistaken for copperheads.
