I think your version is cleaner than picking up two packets or one card and moving it around. Taking the card out once the packet is reassembled is much more sneaky and despite knowing what to expect I missed it and had to rewatch to see it.

Definitely one of the cleanest.! Love it ❤️ - My only change-up on the routine would be to let the spectator get involved a bit more , especially at 2nd half part . Also , I would pop 2 out from the spread at a time and ask spectator to holler red/ black - black/ red - or red / red - black / black .. This has so many great possibilities. Again , thanks. I subscribed and 👍

I quite often pull out 2 and go 'here's 2 the same colour, what do you reckon, red or black?'. You can do that multiple times throughout the routine and it speeds things up a bit

Fantastic version of this amazing classic trick! Thanks for the tutorial, I'll definitely try it out some time. The fact that it's an impromptu trick makes it so amazing and powerful. Great idea 🔥 I really enjoyed your performance, it was great 👍 Very smoothly done. In my opinion, the second method (the tutorial) is better just because, it looks more casually and I feel like it's less noticeable as you fooled me in the performance 😂 Nice trick mate! Keep up the great work 💪

Nice approach, but, credit where it's due: the simultaneous invention of an impromptu version of the great Paurry effect should be credited to Harry Loryane and U.F. Grant who each independently worked out this method. I DO like your idea of using a half deck!

The simplest way to handle any version of this trick is to make sure the two correct piles are the closest to the spectator then for the reveal say "let's see how you did". Make it collaborative. They pick up "their" cards (handling them, which a lovely convincer) and they distract themselves while you can casually stumblebum the switch with "your" cards. No need for any fancy manoeuvres for a rather pointless recap. It's a long trick - they know what's been going on and why. This version has the advantages of no set up and brevity but the disadvantage that you are actually looking at the cards you offer for them to choose. It's a bit of a weakness. For the longer version you have to be quite a good entertainer to maintain focus. Towards the end you can say "this is taking a while" and pretend to batch the remainder for a bulk choice. You can also pretend to be nervous and start looking at the cards after they've chosen to check, "correct" them a couple of times, then tell them to take a drink and pull themselves together. But in general you really have to "play" them a bit. It also isn't generally a good idea to risk letting them self deal at any point.

One of the most unreasonable things we do during almost every OOTW version is the card color swap half way through. I actually am working on the pretense of using all four suits as an out . - in other words, play one card face up from the beginning, but just use the top two piles for separation and then later , say OK, let's work on these two now. You wouldn't specifically have to call out the separation as dividing by suits , but it is a very fitting excuse . You might want to just call out the 2 suits used at first and say , hey , we've had a hearts and spades pile going on, so let's switch it around with clubs and diamonds. At this point you inadvertently change the color sequence below at the same time you put down the 2 different suits . 🎩

He missed the whole justification and a stronger way to finish the sorting after the switch. You have the spectator deal all of the remaining cards themselves in the 2nd half and that gives you the justification: "You're doing so well, and I don't want you to think I have anything to do with this. Why don't deal each card face down on the side where you think it belongs. Let's keep track of where you took over without me touching the cards at all." Along these lines, everything is fully justified and logical and more impressive. Why he continued to deal as the performer really confuses me. Also, the ending swap is much simpler and cleaner. I also do several convincers, such as telling them I saw one card which was on the wrong side and want to give them a chance to redeem themselves. "There was one incorrect card on this side (pointing to the side that's all incorrect). Which one do you feel was incorrect?" Swap that card, flipping it over, to show it indeed was on the wrong side. "But all the rest of these were 100% correct " turn over all cards on correct side, showing them. (One half at a time). "And all of these were also correct" (turning over all cards on incorrect side at once as one pile, except for the first marker card, then spread cards and show they all match). Much cleaner ending and fully justified and covered "moves".

this is an excellent presentation of the trick. coincidentally (?), I performed a nearly identical version of this today, even before watching your video. it blew my laymen spectators out of the water. ...but i believe there is a far more simple and convincing method for revealing the crooked pile.

Are there any no set up variations of this routine where nobody looks at the cards until the end AND with no sneaky moves near the end before the reveal? That would be my favorite version.

So... The best way to do this is to use a tapered deck. That way you can shuffle non stop, then go through the cards face up with the spectators, so they can see the cards are mixed up and the image is burned in their mind. While you ask them a question (I ask if they've had psychic experiences), strip the cards with one quick movement, leaving all the reds on top and blacks on bottom. You don't have to look at the cards. Everyone has just seen them mixed. I learned this from James Randi. Type "James Randi card trick" into RU-vid to find a full performance. Hope you use this!
