Its pretty funny Drongo trying to defend twin brothers lol. One is a point leader but gets untouched for almost entirety of the game. I really wished beasty got that puppy kill. Because of Wam, even Marinelord could not do anything (thats what you get for what you did last game lol). In my book this is 100% teaming. Puppy went for beasty with 100% confidence even though he had two close neighbors because he knew Wam would not attack him and if Marinelord did, Wam will go for him. Like I said in previous game, last game already decided who the winner is going to be. Good for twin brother, they get to split 1st prize haha.
I know the tournament is already over but I would have loved to see rest 6 of them go after twin brothers in the next game because apparently not going after your immediate neighbor is `best strategy` lol.
@@patrickducloux7523 That was not gifting, he was protecting the king as good as he could. If Beasty is incapable of preventing the escape, then he does not deserve the kill. This is what the whole king idea is all about and the reason I liked the first octagon more. Yes it took longer for a round to end, but not being capable of escaping (unless mongol) made it more difficult, for someone else to ruin your hard work. Szalamy did everything right, the rules, that favor this kind of gameplay, are the problem.
@@patrickducloux7523 "They shouldnt be allowed to move king out of the base." If you do that just remove the king. Problem solved. Monitoring the players constantly, to see whether they leave the base with their king is not worth the effort, just remove rule if you find broken instead of fixing it in an overcomplicated way. There has been cases where someone ran and outlived other enemies. What you see as practically gifting is in reality a very small chance of surviving, but it is better to take the small risk than to give up. in fact if they would not move the king away, it would be gifting the king.
It's difficult to call these games entirely fair unfortunately. With the random bad spawns, random 2v1s, 3v1s, the irl relationships, friendship/siblings etc. it's so much chaos and it feels like it lowers actual skill expression and reduces everything to a lot of luck. Still very entertaining and obviously Drongo is trying his best to keep things light and as fair as possible. It is what it is and I appreciate the effort! Good watch :)
If it was luck how come all the best players managed to find themselves on the final round ? It's not because there is randomness in a game that a game is unfair. Many games introduce randomness and are considered fair (pokemon with attacks missing, warcraft 3 with random items drops and random attack damage). Randomness also makes for more replayability. Players have 5 games so it should mitigate the randomness also
@Léonard Mommeja it's 100% luck that puppy rolled china and got the best spawn in the last and never get contested. It's luck that he gets rocketed to the top leaderboarder. Imagine he rolled a diff civ. There is no way he could get to the top ladder.
Puppy going for Beasty means Wam and Marine going for him. But no, suddenly Wam wouldn't attack him, but just prevent Marine from going after him. Why is this not a treaty? I understand the admin explanation, but we're talking about one of the tournament leaders here. If Wam wasn't his brother he'd go for his ass any day.
The situation in the southern corner of this game was appaling and disgraceful. Good riddance for Beasty holding and punishing all three, even if it meant Anotand taking it away with the wonder. Puppy and Wam just happily hugging each other whenever there's a chance, opening a soft underbelly and going after another player while leaving a base undefended... and the other not taking the shot. This is why we can't have nice things.
Oh yea? Puppy backed off for no reason. He basically had beasty and backed off. Then beasty did jerk backstab on wam, didnt give a shit about Wonder. Puppy alone almost got anotand's King. IF they go for him he would probably die to 3 of them
The only reason puppy felt comfortable going for beasty was because he knew Wam had his back to distract ML. He has two nearby neighbors and took his entire army elsewhere? No way that happens normally. Not only should this be panelized, names should be hidden in future tournaments, although that doesn't really stop them from just texting each other their colors. ML and Wam should have immediately invaded puppy's base when they saw he took his army elsewhere. That wouldn't even be considered teaming, it's just good tactics. Even if it were teaming, it would be justified because he is point leader.
Did you watch al the other games? Puppy will let his neighbour live is he is no threath. He is always looking to kill others that are fighting. foresure his eyes where on Salami and Beasty. Easy snipe if they where weaker.

Based that puppypaw went to get beasty on Game 23 from across the map when he was attacking Wam01 and then on Game 24, he went for beasty again and chased him around makes me suspicious. Also Wam was targetting beasty through the whole tournament. See game 25 and you wonder if wam01 and puppy teamed up more.
That was a clearly treason used and he just went for easy king snipe. That happened to everyone. About focusing beasty... maybe they just trying to get rid off obvious danger?
As brothers they probably discussed who their strong opponents are, just as the other players can before games. Beasty even made a tier list. It's not strange that Puppy goes for Beasty as I think Beasty closest on points and a very strong and resilient player if left alone for too long. As for Wam not attacking MarineLord, it makes sense that he doesn't want to commit and then have e.g. Anotand backdoor him. Or if he just loses against ML then ML gets 2 kills because he can roll onto Puppypaw. PLUS they have an absolutely huge beast in Anotand in the North on 350 pop and they know if it's just a 2v1 he can hold. So if they want a chance at a win while not gifting away too many other points, it makes sense to play defensive.
Pfffft its only detrimental to your economy in feudal, not when youre castle age with elite upgrades, he could and should have rolled over both his bro and ML, with the extra recourses gained from that area of the map, he could have wiped out beasty 5 mins after.. so yeah it's teaming
I mean, they are brothers but they shoundt have a peace treaty like that. We've seen time and time again when 3 players spawn together 2 of them fight and the third goes for a snipe on one of their kings since they're weakened. It doesnt happen here why? If I was beasty id be just as angry. it makes me wonder if puppy is being spared from wam's attacks the whole tournament, and thereby changing the outcome.
Maybe thats why they didnt fight? Cause it happened time and time as you said? They even typed in chat fighting is suicide. As beasty I would be happy to live longer because puppy backed off for no reason when he almost got beasty
If you watch the resource count puppy was almost broke and wam was pumping. It was a bad deal for puppy to pick a fight with anyone there, I agree, but wam was very safe. Even ml was asking why wam wouldnt push him with all that siege and strong military. Idk whats the solution for this, drongo reckonizes that they're brothers and so on, but their decision making is biased too it seems
@@frankdevo5715 @Frank Devo Nonsense. I recommend you to rewatch the rest of the tournament before making statements like this. Wam was knocking out puppy in multiple games already. Same for puppy. But people learn and you could see the same thing on the north in this game. Avoiding to attack your closest neighbors all in allowed anotand, don and ourk to stay in the game much longer and gave them a better chance to compete against boomers. I don't know why you would ignore that. Its literally the same thing, except they didn't have 4th and 5th neighbors who went at it early. Have beasty and szalami fought on the north, I can guarantee you the same thing would happen. But there wouldn't be two brothers to blame, right? Also, this is a trend going on for quite long already. The last game on the water engulfed map, same thing. In that game, not attacking their neighbors and partially booming allowed Ourk, Szalami and ML to have much better chances. And Ourk capitalized on that by migrating and then attacking Beasty. Was that teaming? He moved across the map and ignored ML (who was about to steamroll him). So if we apply your perspective to it, we should call that teaming aswell. Its just Beasty who didn't learn and in two consecutive games was nullified early because of this. And now he's throwing tantrums because of his own incompetence. Being able to adapt like this makes those players much better than him and we should avoid calling it teaming. Another thing to note is that Szalami didn't want to fight Beasty early and this is exactly the reason for it.
Isn’t this literally colluding. They probably thought it would be too obvious if they attacked ML together so puppy went out of his way to attack beasty instead of what would actually happen is the biggest threat would get ganked by the third if he went to go attack. Instead they both wall it off because Ofc they want both of them to get as much point as possible. Who actually in their right mind playing competitively wouldn’t try to snag a king assassination or try getting rid of a player right next to you? Instead he went to beasty in the right corner of the map. “They’re both fighting different players so I’m okay with it idk if the admins are” Comon drongo you’re better than this. AND THEY BOTH TEAM UP ON ANDOTAND AFTER ML DIES like the brothers had 1 less enemy to fight the entire game unlike the rest. They never even sent units at each other ever
I hear you but there is really no way of proving this - just one of those unfortunate things. See Game 23 when puppy comes across the map to get beasty after beasty wiped out wam01. Also wam01 was attaching beasty in all their matches together.
Maybe they should have a mode where everyone is anonymous and no game chat is allowed. Random colors and random names. I guess they could do something in a way that signals who they are though like place a tower on one corner of their TC.
I saw that before, dunno in which tournament it was but everyone had the same name. Needless to say there was a lot of guessing leading to boring experience.
Before Drango say that they were brothers, nobody talked about them teaming up. However, after Drango said it, everyone started using this reason to charge him
Man, it is so frustrating to see beasty playing these tournament. By the thumbnail and video description I though beast would finish this game with like 10 points. Hard times to be a beasty fan.
Honestly mlord and wam sitting on 200 pop refusing to fight and puppypaw being “forced” to attack beasty was the worst part in this otherwise amazing tournament. Brothers or friends or not this takes the sportsmanship spirit out of the tournament. Please do something to prevent this from happening again
Also saying they didn’t wanna attack puppy as a neighbor because “it would be detrimental to their economy” (as guy in the comments said and the judge overlooking that) over 40 minutes of game its rather silly statement to make. Not attacking someone as in this (specific!) case is clearly teaming

Pretty lame the three of them down in the corner not fighting each other. I'm a Beasty fanboy so maybe this is just copium but it seems like the other players are doing everything possible to stop him from winning.
kinda yeah. Although I will say Beasty really isn't doing that great on his own either. He never makes knights, so kills keep slipping away from him. The way to win in this mode is get 20 knights, wreck the TC the king is in early. Advantage French, Rus

Sorry drongo. But I don't agree with your admin. That was clearly teaming. It can't be justified by saying that they're not attacking the same player at the same time. There's more than one way to team. Wam and puppypaw had each other's back the whole game. Wam was protecting puppypaw from marinelord while puppypaw attacked beasty it's as plain as day. And yes it's stupid to attack your neighbours because then you're weak afterwards, that's why marinelord stopped attacking wam at one stage because he could see it was futile and he was getting nowhere, if he'd changed targets and attacked puppypaw then wam would've sniped him. If I go up against any of my siblings I take them out first because I know that they know how I play and they know my weaknesses and strengths. Then I go for the next biggest problem at the time. But my siblings and anyone else who knows my play style die first. For the entire length of this game wam and puppypaw didn't so much as attack each other once. If that had happened then yeah I'd have doubts about them teaming but they didn't so it's teaming
I feel like there's way too much fanboying on beasty. It's always "poor beasty had such a tough game". So did other players, he's not unique in this regard and he doesn't deserve better treatment than any other player. There's definitely a lot of "hard done by beasty" comments. I feel like he doesn't need to be pandered to that much. 😅
Ugh I love this format and Drongo you've done great (as have the players) but this is getting ridiculous! That was 15 minutes (20:00 - 35:00) of bs diplomacy in chat and no action in the bottom of the map with 3 imperial age members doing diddly squat to each other. Everyone else is fighting their neighbors. We've seen difficult/clustered spawns fight it out many many times before. It feels like some players (ML no doubt) are spending the whole game playing RISK in the chat, not Aoe IV. This is the second game in a row that has had this type of phenomenon. I wouldn't be surprised if others begin to feel cheated and grouped up on and begin diplo-turtling & sniping all game too. It goes against what the format aims to be: chaotic, risky, random and fun to watch. Game 13 is a good example to compare this and the last game with, as it has many similar situations but different player behavior that led to it being a blast to watch.
ML was one of the most honest people in this tournament. Refusing itself from additional population. He is one of the most aggressive players in the tournament. On this part he can't do anything, except survive. It's disgusting to attack a kid because he talks in the chat, that's the purpose of the chat...😅

I'm focused on the behavioral phenomenon that we've witnessed as the stakes have raised now that we are in Grand Finals, not any player. I like ML a lot, he was the first Aoe II player I followed years back! (I'm also not aware of him being a child) To his and others credit, its 100% understandable to play more opportunist, wise, and conservative now that money is seriously on the line but this trend we are starting to see in the OO format could lead to a meta that OO (as far as I understand it) is trying to avoid. Apologies for any miscommunications on my end.

Gotta say - this format is kinda fun to watch but also way too frustrating as it is more or less bare luck to kill a king if you are not a cav civ. Salama Kill would be a clear beasty kill. It made NO sense for samalami to escape towards anotand. Then puppy attacks beasty even though he has two neighbors. Really ridicoulus. Bg
Yeaaaa it was very frustrating to see no one attacking him or even considering it. Like they actually had a very very valid reason to team if it was to attack anotand but it wasn't lol
So now we jump on the tantrum boy train and roll with it, huh? But we tend to ignore his arrogant attitude for the whole tournament, 3 premature surrenders (which robbed other players of pop gain) and not giving up 50 pop against ML who had a bug and didnt receive pop gain. ML who always deleted the necessary pop when there was a bug for the other players (two times). I'm getting sick of this double meter towards that disrespectful person. And I almost forgot people jumping all over GUAs early surrender and ignoring Baibyqt's double surrender from previous games that literally happened 48 hours prior to it and were watched by the same community. Shame on that my friend. And one more thing, he was the only person to verbally attack other player in chat, calling him an idiot. Noone else did that, only Szalami typing noob and he straight apologized. To me its very interesting what kind of people set examples for the rest of the playerbase, because many people tend to behave the same way.

So he might be eliminated rather then surrender. Still beasty isn't talking ffa seriously which is a shame. (also, I think there was a rule about surrendering after the first game. So if he did, he would have been punished no?
@@JamesCh. I dun care about beasyQT. It’s about the fairness of the game play. No player shall have a secret treaty with another player. And by the rules, surrendering his own king IS a punishable behavior in this tournament. They should look into beasyQT if that’s the case.
This game was quite frustrating tbh. No significant effort to attack anotand after having a huge lead. 350 population. Szalami is such a good sportsman and hilarious to watch though. ❤ Drongo your casting is great as always. Thanks for the great content. I would suggest having rewards for killing players with points. This might discourage just targeting weaker players. Just my two cents.
as fun as this series is, the teaming was obvious here. lame. not even sure what would be fair here. anotand had a great game so a remake/taking his points wouldnt be fair. but the rest? not sure if ML is involved, but it always felt like "ok, go attack beasty, if ML makes a move, i will attack him so he cant snipe". ML even mentioned that in chat. if he attacks, the other one will attack.
ML can't do any move, hes totaly blocked. No resources in hes area, if he attack he losse all hes army and it will be a sucide. He can only w8, def and dream about a little way to some resources.
Anyone who doesn't see the obvious breach of integrity between the brothers this tournament is absolutely coping. Players have been nuking neighbors constantly, even in triples. I binge-watched this tournament and it's exceedingly clear to me after watching every game in such quick succession.
If there was a way to play OBO where none of the players names are shown to each other and a rule where they can’t say who they are might work. But of course when they start talking people will be able to tell who each other is by their personality or something.
I think Puppypaw and Wam should maybe not be in the same tournament. Wam had no problem hitting marinelord... his neighbor if Wam hit puppy at all this game would have been so different
Maybe, there is some sense in making king move slower? Give him the default speed of siege, because all non-cavalry units are not-appreciated if you need to chase king all over the map. It will not impact the concept of tournament, but will force players to play strategic, not racing.
Felt bad for beasty there, blatent teaming from the brothers. Abit of ashame as it ruins a good final imo, how many other times have they made secret pacts to get each other into the finals?
I knew I didn’t like these brothers from the start. My bro and I would do the same thing in FFAs with our friends. That was with no money involved, shameful.
maybe to promote attacking your neighbor, we can have an additional point awarded to a king kill if your king is nearby. So by attacking to your neighbor you can actually pull that of without taking too much risk compared to attacking someone on the other edge of the map.
I gotta say this looked hella suspicious for me in the bottom corner for at least half the game. They were literally chilling next to each other with no walls or wooden walls. I would have considered this an unofficial peace treaty, but I'm not the admin...anyway "easy" points for anotand because the rest pissed off each other and went for revenge xd
When Wam did the same thing everybody said it was a low blow. When the prince Beasty does it, suddenly its the best thing ever. The Beasty fans are too populous...
I always find it fun watching someone get an economic lead and keep it. Like a ton of traders or relics and no one stops it lol. So much gold from them traders is crazy to see. So much value. Anotand getting more gold then the 3 players combined.
Late to reviewing all of the games - was a fantastic tournament in the previos matches with so much aggression... This game though was such a letdown.... 80% of the comments here completely agree by the looks of it too.
King is annoying as shit...Tho its his fault for not learning knights and horsemen are 100% needed to secure king kills you need the speed but Beasty has to be fuming after these last 2 game you spend 20 minutes smashing threw defenses just for it to hop out pop the movement speed buff run away and run away to get killed by another player in the next 5 minutes... Perhaps instead of a movement speed bonus the king is stationary by default once the peace treaty ends at the start and has an ability to allow it to move for 30 seconds or so with a cooldown instead.. so you cant just keep running it around and unintentionally donating it to other players. Tho that kinda removes the chance of a comeback.. Its been entertaining dont get me wrong but it just seems like your at a massive disadvantage if you dont play mass knights
Teaming is gonna happen, whether consciously or subconsciously. I think the only way to avoid it is to disable chat, and have the players change their names (like what they do for Hidden cup in Aoe2)
puppy goes for beasty or anyone across the map, and wam atacks anyone going for puppy. you see wam and ML didn't really go so aggressive. wam only attacked ML when ML tried to backstab puppy. not only this map, see others and tell me if there is no treaty (or alliance) there.
definitely teaming. 3 teams on the bottom and yet no attacking of eachother and Puppy decides to go ALL the way out of his way to attack beasty? unfair, the brothers should not be allowed in the same tournament together unless it was team based and they were on the same team
Hard teaming. Brothers refusing to attack and building base in each other. Defensive teaming. Also- Nerf King next OO. Pretty lame watching kings run from TC to keep to tower. Reward players for building an army, not rats who cherrypick all the work. Either nerf the kings run speed or health and ranged armor.
There was aggression at the beginning so it's hard to say anyone was teaming. The problem was it got to a standoff between teal and blue. Orange was open to be attacked while he was off fighting yellow but the moment blue or teal went after orange they would be open to attack from the other. I miss diplo games.
I have watched you miss a 'couple' of kings. Normally when you're cranking a separate issue. Marinelord's one was when you were chatting about the admin teaming. Giga multi task already

Had a blast during this tournament, but the finals are very bad due the obvious teaming, Drongo you tried so hard to explain the "they are not teaming" that sounded like you were trying to convice yourself, they are on private comms 100%, bad finals because of the brothers, what a shame.
Anotand needs to thank Beasty for that win, he had zero defensive capability after popping that wonder and wouldn't have stood a chance if the other 3 pushed together despite the huge pop
43:07 just null their points and don't invite them together to any other FFA event. I've had multiple 'feelings' about teaming up and favouritism all over OO2, but this one takes the cake. Also... what made Anotand move out at 52:30? Three minutes until wonder victory and you suddenly move out, completely ignoring wonder defence, and push against Puppy to snipe his king? What's the reasoning behind moving out from under the wonder at that point?
@@egontiedeman761 Sure, but how did he know he was safe to move out and put pressure, how was he sure there was no enemy going for the wonder? He didn't send a small scouting party, look how many units he started moving and attacked with. Getting a +1 kill if he's lucky vs leaving the wonder too exposed is too high a risk most of the times and i haven't seen anything like that in any previous OO game that ended with a wonder.
@@dr4kun he could see them fighting in text chat and he saw beasty kill wam. He knew they werent trying to kill the wonder anymore. Plus if the wonder was threatened while some of his army was away he could delete them and produce a new amy immediately right by the wonder since he had all his production up there.

Somehow the frand finals is way worst than the play In tournament. Outback 3 should just by like 24 players playing a 25-30 game season winner takes all
Ahhh i really loved watching the whole series, but the teaming in some games was already kinda suspicious, with it being very present in this one. Ruins the Rest of the finals unfortunately, I won't even bother to finish this series i guess. Great work from you tho, leaving a like anyways for Drongo, not for puppy or wam.
I didn't have an issue with ML, Puppy and Wam situation on the south. It would have been nice to see them all try and take on Anotand at the end, but I get Beasty trying to maximize his own points.
@@blakecheboygan yes, but you can go about it in different ways. Take huge risks for tons of points or play it safe for a few. What I meant to say is that the former is more entertaining as a viewer, but Beasty understandably went for the later.

I feel so sorry for beasty in this whole Tournament, he worked so many people down, got attacked badly, survived and got so many kings sniped under his nose. I wouldnt wonder, if he says to never play ocktagon again, his Frustration must be enourmus. Again, I feel sorry for him

It actually detracts from the viewing pleasure that we nearly always get from you. Maybe just recap it at the end of the game? I’m just a consumer though, what would I know. 🇦🇺
Theres a reason how puppypaw wins both octagons with wham on the lobby... Sure he is good but he gets help, brothers should not be allowed in same tournament or lobby if its ffa
