SuperProhibited I made the small arm from parts I had lying around at home, they are a 8mm ball & socket joint off a ride-on lawnmower Hope that helps.

tony triassi the wireless 4x4 module then switches 2x small crossover (12v x 5A ) relays to change/reverse the polarity on the actuator

It looks about the same as some older "remotetroll" out there, thats deffinatly a freshwater calm day only steering.

+Nenad Knežev. I purchased the Linear Actuator Motor off Ebay, they come in different lengths, ie, DC12V 24V 750N 50mm 100mm 200mm 300mm 600mm. and made up relay switching from a remote 4x4 winch switch. Hope that helps.

I've been using the unit for about two years, and I haven't had any problems when it gets wet, but saying that I only run the boat in a fresh water lake. I haven't really thought about connecting it up to a GPS/ mapping program, but can't see any problem doing so. It would be the same as the servo motor on a autohelm using a fluxgate compass connected to a GPS plotter. I use it when I've got the trolling line out the back, I'm sitting back with a beer and maybe need to move the boat track over a few degrees, of course with minimal effort...

Matthew Adams I only made it for my own personal use, and have posted it to show people how it runs. it won't suit all conditions, especially windy days, but fine calm days relax with a beer is fine. I only built it for fun, something to try out .. that's all.

Good point for larger faster craft, but for 2hp or trolly power jons, it could work fine.

Its a fresh water, calm day only unit for sure but that honestly is about as fast as the old remote troll we had. All the lakes we are on that thing in the right hands would do great.
