originally you could knock her out and get her like this but they patched it out cause it wasnt by design but we remained persistent and went through all the hassle to get our drow badass that they said fine you can have her
the devs mustve been impressed by the method people came up with to recruit her without killing innocents as intended. Game of the Year no doubt about it
@@armpitlicker4735mod was janky. Honestly just Dimension Door spam with an Extended Spell metamagic on Polymorph. Easy peasy. Not needed now, of course, but still.
That is one reason why I still praise CDPR. Those guys actually listen to the gamers, admit their mistakes, and still try to improve their game. On the other hand American devs set their goal to make fun of & look down upon the gamers.
They should have a cutscene similar to Auntie Ethel, where mid-combat the Prism disorients her and you get a flash of her backstory, then you can choose to knock her unconcious similar to Minsc in Act 3.
So, does knocking out the Hag's mask thralls counts as killing them, in both Act 1 and Act 3? I don't want to waste doing it again if it is still the same.
Just want to be clear her romance/sex scene is accessible if you destroy the grove with her or destroy it in a full blown civil war in the grove. Minthara’s real romance starts if her approval is high enough and during the high approval conversation pick lover for the dialogue choice to start your real romance with Minthara.
So it is possible to romance her in Act 2 without slaughtering the Tieflings, right? Just checking cause I did a playthrough where I killed the Tieflings and romanced her,but I also wanna do one where I side with the Tieflings.
@@altus2447just make sure her approval is high enough start your real romance with her and pick the lover dialogue choice in that high approval conversation
Its funny that if you complete Halsin’s sidequest jn act 2 with Minthy in the party, she gets an inspiration from it. So they do interact in a weird way

Okay, so, we can knock out Minthara now, in order to recruit her later. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm curious, how does this affect Halsin's recruitment? Are you able to have them both as companions now, or are they still seperate? Could you show them both on video?
If anyone was curious like I was, I tested this with Patch 5 going to Moonrise as fast as I could to see if Minthara showed up. I needed to see if you could finish the quest defeating the Goblin leaders for Halsn to leave, all you have to do is Knock out Minthara again to get him to leave after defeating the other two, the Journal will say shes dead but I went the Mountain Path to get to moonrise and boom she was there and I got the Party and Grove saved, Im guessing this will work with going through the Underdark as well hopefully. This was only because I long rested and she was up again. and Halsin wasnt leaving the Goblin Camp for me.
@@scarfking1579 All I did was knock her out and he was like hey thanks and the party at the grove worked, the Journal mentions she was dead but she was at moon rise still.I didnt go frurther than the cutscene because I was so tired lol it was 6am
Thank you, i had the quest Kill Gobelins Leaders before the first time i saw Minthara, so when i knocked out Minthara, Halsin refuse to leave as the game is considering Minthara alive (Halsin dont want to move and the tiefflins dont react to my victory at all). So once its all clear with Minthara and Halsin alive, is to knockout a second time Minthara ?
Based on the fact that you can only do this by turning her temporary hostile rather than permanetly (luring her to grove, avoid killing Ragzlin first, confront her etc.) it seems this was not intended and might be fixed at some point. It might be that Larian tried to fix a bugg/issue where if Minthara was knocked out in act 1 after you allied with her the game would not put her in act 2 - so the fix wasnt to make it possible to recruit her without killing the grove but rather a fix to sort that particular issue out that accidently created a new way to recruit her.
Doing a good playthrought with minthara is such a wrong doing, they just added the recruitment without the grove riding bc of the simps. A evil char in a good playthrought its displaced lol
@@user-hf1dv3wt3l Its not though. i killed gut and then knocked out minthara. i killed some more goblins afterwards and upon going back to check on her, she was standing and i was unable to interact with her, like you said. i thought i did it wrong so i knocked her out again (temporarily hostile). is this all right or did i mess it up? (i have not yet killed ragzlin and completed halsin's quest, so i'm not sure if something is different with mine)
As someone who just got the game, this video didn't really explain anything. In fact, if you used/explained your pin comment in the video, that would have worked. Thankfully I've seen other comments explaining the context and I fortunately KO'd her (on accident) and killed the others. Hopefully I'll find her in Moonrise Towers.

@@tonyspizza6606 Yes, you can freely play once Priestess Gut and Ragzlin are taken care of. Avoiding long resting only applies between knocking out Minthara and killing them two.
@@AgeofJP yes she has some lines about them, also there’re some banters. I saw some people saying, that if you save Sazza you can't get Minthara in the Moonrise Tower - this is not true, I just got to the Moonrise Tower on a good playthrough in honour mode and both Minthara and Sazza were in front of Kethric, I was able to save both of them (got the achievement "She Cannot Be Caged", and Minthara joined me in the camp). Also I saw comment, that you can't talk to Minthara at all before knocking her out - this is not true either. What I did exactly was this: peacfully went through goblin camp, reached Minthara, talked to her, but did not commit to the attack on Grove (I don't remember the exact dialog option, but it was something like "i need some time" option). Then I sneaked behind her, attacked her, knocked her out and proceded to kill the whole goblin camp from there. One thing worth noting is my quest to kill all the leaders seemed bugged after clearing the whole camp, so I went back to Mintharas room and she was awake (but naked). So I knoecked her out again, the quest finished and I never went back to her again.
Yeah unfortunately lots of misinformation is being spread around despite the official instructions being an incredibly simple 3-step process. Even more ironic considering Sazza can be seen standing next to Minthara in the video while she's in front of Ketheric ^^
It's definitely not fully working as intended still. Even though it's an official method approved by Larian to recruit her, it's not perfect. Most noticeably her and Halsin's tents are still in the same spot and overlap in the camp and they don't acknowledge each others existence since they're supposed to be mutually exclusive.
The Patch doesn't work. I knocked Minthara at the Goblin-camp in the fight. She still was alive. I went to Halsin and reported that all Leaders are dead. At my camp the Party started and after that I continued with the game. Yesterday I arrived at Moonrise-Tower and opened the door but in the room there are only the Goblins and no Minthara. What made I wrong?
If she wasn't made *Temporarily Hostile* first prior to being knocked-out, she won't be in ACT 2. The pinned comment/description has all the necessary info.
I free Halsin at first. Told him to stay, I handle this alone. First I killed the Hobgoblin and than the priestess. After both are dead, I went to the room were Minthara was standing. NOW she is agro and had a red marker, after I killed the two goblins in the anteroom. So I had to fight against her. I knocked her out and loot her inventory. After that I continued my game. I don‘t know what I did wrong.
@@theeaglefliesalone666 _"First I killed the Hobgoblin..."_ That's the issue. He has to be killed *after* Minthara is knocked out, otherwise just like the entirety of the camp she becomes a permanent enemy once Ragzlin is killed and cannot be made *Temporarily Hostile* any longer. This is already mentioned in the description/pinned comment.
I just played through this today! After knocking her out and making my way to Moonrise (skipping Underdark to hasten my arrival, I'll go back to it later), I encountered an odd bug. I walked into the throne room and she was standing right there, then POOF gone. The cutscene played without her and I was super bummed. Then, I found her standing nearby, no guards, no hostility, I walked up and talked to her. The conversation was as though I had just freed her from torture and I was given the option to get her out of there. I picked it, she aggroed the guards and immediately got downed. So then I loaded it, had a companion cast invisibility on her with a scroll during our conversation, and then RAN for the door. At the far end of the bridge, the conversation picked up as normal. Hopefully this will help anyone who has the same issue.
This doesn’t work for me. I don’t understand why. I did pretty much exactly what you did. Temporarily hostile, knocked her out, then killed the other goblin leaders. I can even check rn in my playthrough that she’s alive right and still standing there in the goblin camp before meeting ketheric thorm. But she doesn’t show up in the throne room. I don’t understand wtf is going on. It feels like the only way to get her at this point is by using the glitch.
Unfortunately I have no clue why some people are not seeing her in ACT 2, because I've attempted to test multiple different scenarios trying to break her spawn by playing like a complete lunatic and I have absolutely no issue always getting her to spawn. The exact base way I tested this today is; - Got the quest from Zevlor to defeat the Goblin leaders - Killed Priestess Gut after letting her inspect me - Knocked out Minthara after committing a crime next to her - Killed Ragzlin And that's it. After these three steps I tried breaking her spawn in so many different ways by resting in front of her multiple times, trying to talk to her, completely ignoring Halsin, talking to Halsin only AFTER I kill the leaders, etc.... maybe people are taking a long rest between knocking her out and killing Ragzlin? I have no clue really.
There are still bugs, if you try and save her from the prison (honour mode so no reloads) and fail the persuasion check on the guards, the whole place aggroes you and eventually she might die, as she did on my run, now her corpse is not revivable, but is stuck as a follower in my party (her portrait) and there's no way to get rid of her.. probably going to baldurs gate will remove her but idk, my honor mode playthrough might just have a dead minthara's portrait for the entire run..
Imagine what Minthara must be thinking when she turns around to see the same four people that beat the fuck out of her in the camp walk into Moonrise tower.
I believe they did another patch for this. It still works, but you can't have both Halsin and Minthara, there will be a new scene where Halsin tells you he won't work with her and you need to tell one of them to go when you recruit her.
It fucking sucks because I did everything on a video I saw and after hours and finally at Moonrise, she is not even there. It was weird already when I knocked her out and she disappeared after that. I created a new game just to have her as a compagnion.
I did knock her out without comtting a crime and turning her temporarily hostile first. Guess what? She didnt show up in act 2. Fuck it! I am gonna keep playing anyway. I cant go back now. It was a whole days work. But thanks for the heads up! I will do as you say for my next playthrough to get Minthara
@@preivraum2691 and it was the patch 5 playthrough. I’m upset because i prepared everything for sheepthara, assuming the worst.. but when i arrived to moonrise she wasn’t there, i reloaded and teleported back to the goblin camp to start the procedure aaaand she wasn’t there either..
I dunno how to feel about this. On the one hand it’s nice to be able to get her and save the tieflings…but it gives less value to an evil playthrough that already has less content than the good path.
I just started a Tiefling slaughter playthrough so I can actually romance Minthara, because the romance seemed completely bugged if Minthara was recruited through any other method (e.g., ignoring the grove, sheepthara glitch, or mods). I wonder if the romance is fixed now, or if I killed Wyll and Karlach for nothing.
My first playthrough was an ignore the grove playthrough so I could recruit her. I was romancing shadowheart at the time and she suggested to break it off and be with her instead at the start of act 3. The romance option seems to work
@ApparentlyJade And did you accept her advances? And did anything actually happen afterwards? I've recruited Minthara every way other than slaughtering the Tieflings, and the romance happens the exact same way. We kill Ketheric, she comes on to me, I accept and nothing happens. It doesn't work.
I followed this exactly, rescued her in moonrise, talked to her in camp, but I can’t recruit her. After our first conversation in camp, she now remains silent.
now some things needs to be fixed. first, the journal where it says she is dead, should be instead (its unclear what happend to her after she got knocked out) or something and the second thing, the tents. she needs her own spot, which shouldn't be too bad and maybe will be implemented in patch 6. :)
I didn't know about the Temporarily Hostile condition and now I've gotten to Moonrise 18 hours after I attempted to get Minthara >.< Welp, next playthrough
I recommend reloading and being absolutely sure you made her *Temporarily Hostile* before knocking her out by following the instructions mentioned in the Description/Pinned Comment, because if it was done right then she'll just be standing there the next day.
Once Minthara comes back to your camp do you have to choose between her and Halsin or can you convince them both to stay? I know theres datamines from weeks ago saying you have to choose, but Im looking for a more definitive answer before considering starting a new game.
Neither, they both just chill at the camp. Their tents are overlapping, but other than that hey both seem perfectly fine ignoring each other. Maybe that changes sometime later in the story, but so far nothing suggests that one has to choose between either of them. Now that Larian implemented this as an official way to recruit her their dynamic probably might change in the future patches to seamlessly integrate her with everyone.
It’s certainly cool that the developers listened to players who want to get Mintara without the massacre in the grove, but this is called “gaming impotence” when the player cannot bring himself to do something “bad” or “different” in the game even in order to watch all the content. Mintara is a woman worth killing for.
Still they need to fix her and you can see larian never really wanted this ( her tent in camp and halsin should never be together hope they fix this asap
Fantastic. Something like 1-2 days before patch release I was killed Minthara, because It wasn't possible to recruit her without consequences. Bravo me :/ Maybe in second playthrough...
ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i messed up. i told her i'm hunting her in dialogue and started a fight, knocked her out, but she's not in moonrise. my game took her for dead :(
But why not let her be exclusive for evil runs, i mean she doesnt fit good runs well. Ye her comments are funny but shes not joking at all. For me she doesnt fit good runs at all.
@@user-hf1dv3wt3l You know there is more than two ways to play the game right? You can be neutral too kind of, you dont have to be full on evil or good, which is why it makes sense to recruit her even if ur not evil, since shes not full evil either.
@@user-hf1dv3wt3l In addition to what everyone else said... you also sacrifice too much to get her in evil runs. The grove incident costs you 3 characters (Wyll, Karlach, Halsin). That's honestly not worth it, even as good of a companion she is. You miss 3 whole character arcs, and the ability to save the Cursed Lands should you choose to redeem yourself later on.
Finally, i can remove the mod frn my game. They really turned that exploit into a feature just coz the players wanted it. They listen to feedback Shoutout to the " Daughter of loth" Mod on Nexus that allowed u to easily recruit her in act2 without any tiresome work. That mod has been a blessing all these months
Another tip: if you’re The Dark Urge and rescue Minthara, you lose a journal where Ketheric recognize us. He just treats us like Tav, but only after he leaves we feeling suspicious about Ketheric somehow recognize us
Ketheric recognizing The Dark Urge is still buggy. It happens whether or not you choose to destroy the Grove or save it. I quicksaved before going in once, and he recognized me the first time. I reloaded the quicksave, and for some odd reason the unique recognition dialogue did not play. It's weird, but it's not a super huge bug so it's probably not on Larian's immediate radar atm.
