This time, we were to try something different, a new to us experience, a pub stop.
Travelling back south, we had a ferry booked from Eriskay to Barra the next day, so wanted to be reasonably close to the terminal.
We found The Polochar Inn on Park4night, although it now seems to have been removed.
Not sure why. Maybe it got too popular.
Moving on to catch the ferry...far too early as usual. We made it onto the Isle of Barra...

I like to be early, logically you can never then be late. But, it is also a coping strategy to prevent anxiety, so you do what you need to. Enjoyed the video as always..😊😊

Re the Kilbride campsite - there's a RU-vidr called Roz that I've recently discovered. She was in the Outer Hebrides in May (I think), travelling in the opposite direction to you. She stayed at the Kilbride site in her Go-Pod micro caravan so there's a bit more info to be had there. She (like me) is a ready-for-the-ferry-early person. Trains, too, for me but I do have some cutting-it-fine times with other things Love the music on your videos, by the way. Thanks for filming and all the rest! Laura

Just 'Roz' but a search for Roz, Go-Pod, Winston will make sure. Winston is her dog. She has to work and film so not much time to watch other channels but she checks comments promptly.

It's just that we're concerned about the lack of possible parkups. I suppose a pub stop will be more economical if travelling solo. We will give it another go. Before I retired I was always very early for every meeting I had to go to even though I lived further away than everyone else. Great little vid. I have now almost caught up with watching almost all of the episodes with the sound on. Even my missus is lisening to them now.

@@the-other-windsors I have always been worried about being late for meetings. I have been looking for your Campbeltown vid after the Tarbert one. I was statione at RAF Machrihanish for 3 years so Campbeltown was my 'home'. Havent found it yet?

Always early for everything.Think it stemmed from when i was working and was early for meetings.I also got frustrated when people were late if i was holding meetings,and they were told so! Love your soundtracks and the lyrical contents and their relation to the journey.Thanks again,take care.

Great vlog, thanks to you both, on my next trip to Scotland I will try a few ferries, I mainly have given them a miss because I thought they would be expensive! this you have shown not to be the case, On the subject of pub campsites could I suggest the Camping Biker! he travels around looking for cheap camp sites on his motorcycle (with tent but more than likely there are camper vans & caravans camping) also useful kit reviews, + rides on his bike.

Nice to treat yourself although not sure you were totally convinced and assume you don’t have to pay - weird it’s been removed from park4night Food prices are high for sure and we have to be selective as it can soon eat into your budget so we treat ourselves a couple of times in a long trip maybe Your in line with the master of being mega early to reduce anxiety v Jane who is more to the second hand just reaching the time your meant to be there 😂😂😂😂

Yes. OK, once in a while. It's not easy for us either due to our Blue being with us. The restaurant area looked amazing, unfortunately, we were relegated to an empty bar area. Park4night did say it was under review at the time we stayed. OMG Jane, I'd have a complete meltdown! I just need to find a happy medium. 🙂🐕🚙

Im terrible, i panic about everything and anything, so we have to be early🙄we were last at Eriskay in 2019 and met Chris walks the uk coast at the Politician pub. Chris was so lovely and so was the pub😊x

They let locals and cars on before Campervan and vans etc. even if you’ve booked. That’s Calmac’s policy now. Locals have priority on all routes for Calmac ferries. It’s the Islanders lifeline all year round. 🤗

Ouch that was a pricey mcpricey meal 😢 I’d rather pay for a campsite and have a chippy tea or a cheese sandwich 😂thank you for such scenic views truly beautiful❤ and I am always early sometimes when you go on ferry to Isle of Wight they let you on earlier crossing 🎉

Enjoyed this video, but you didn’t mention Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Beach at the ferry terminal. It was where Charlie first set foot in Scotland pre the 1745 upheaval.

Think if you were eating the food in the restaurant area, which looked beautiful, then you'd expect it, but we were the only ones sitting in the bar area and it was a shame it lacked any ambience. 😕🐕🚙

To be fair, £30 each for a meal with drinks and dessert in a pub is about average on the mainland let alone on an island! I paid almost £14 for two pints and a packet of crisps in a pub in Stratford on Avon a couple of weeks ago!! Here's a link to Roz's channel that others have mentioned. Sorry. I keep forgetting to add the date the footage was shot. We aren't there now. This was filmed in April/ May this year. So we won't be meeting up we're afraid 😕
