Claire hears the buzzing/humming sound coming from the stone, you hear it with the music. I loved watching you get into my favorite show! I hope you continue!
"I love the bagpipes!" So does Bear McCreary, who does the music for the show. He talks in interviews about being happy he could finally let loose on Outlander.
I’ve not read the books but what I gather from her feeling and or touching the stone, is that she hears the buzzing radiating from it and that area, and just touched it out of curiosity. I enjoyed watching you react to this series! It’s one of my absolute faves!!
I discovered Outlander the summer before Season 3 premeired, then after the season ended I read the books, it took me about 2 months to read each one as I am a slow reader. I first became interested in it when I heard it was a Scottish story. My grandmother was born in Scotland, I guess that is where my love of the bagpipes came from. I like both the books and the series, I think of them as to separate entities.
I also found Outlander right before season 3 ☺️ It was the day of the premier & of course, STARZ channel was running a marathon of season 2...I watched 1 episode & was hooked! I immediately stopped watching & went back to season 1 episode 1 & started from the beginning. It's been a love story between Outlander & myself ever since 💗
So excited to see you get into my favorite show! It's a beautiful journey and as a fellow writer I totally agree on all of your remarks with how you grade shows for when I'm watching a show too.
She touched the stone the way she did because she was feeling it. It was making a buzzing tone noise. She was feeling the vibration it made. Unfortunately, she fell in. 🙃 I'm going to warn you now, since you seem the sort to be sensitive to violence, gird your loins and toughen up. This story is intensely good at portraying the intimate scenes, but it also doesn't pull any punches on violence. By the end of the first season you are soooooo in love with Jamie and Claire but by damn you feel beat to death. The intimacy is beautifully graphic and the violence is in your face. Hope you hang in there for a great journey. Outlander has been a favorite of mine for years. I'll enjoy experiencing it for the first time again through you.
Outlander and then Game of Thrones made me think a lot about enjoying life when you can because things could change at any moment and you need to learn to be ready for real challenges.
The metric system wasn’t devised until after the American Revolution. In 1740’s Scotland and all of British territory/colonies British Imperial Standard measurements were… well, the standard.
She’s in France! Of course there’s wine. I’ve read all nine books. It got me through major cervical surgery but you can get the audio versions and listen to the books.
Deaths directly caused by World War II (including military and civilian fatalities) are estimated at 50-56 million, with an additional estimated 19-28 million deaths from war-related disease and famine. I wonder, what was your "at the time" comment meant to be about?
I think she initially thought it was the First World War - I think she mentioned the Great War(?) Either that or she's just really pessimistic about the current situation in Eastern Europe...
I came to know this series in the second season when my sister told me to watch. I went on demand and started with the first episode. I have to tell you, I was not intrigued but I kept watching and before I knew it I was hooked. Now, years and seasons later, I just love it. The actors are great and the storyline is very interesting. Diana Gabaldon has done a terrific job. She put a lot of work into these books. I wonder why it took so long to get to the screen. So happy it made it though.
Always enjoy seeing Outlander reviews so here I go! I always saw the rocks as having this powerful pull towards the people that can travel through them so I think the buzzing and energy is what made Claire place her hands that way. Kind of like when we want to eavesdrop what’s happening on the other side. And yes the books are huge; I am making my way through them and is taking time. But they are so worth it.
Welcome!!! BTW if you have trouble with the Scottish accents, use the CC. It really helps. In the books it is described that sound coming from the stone draws her to it - it is almost as a force that she finds irresistible.
The first time I heard about this show was when I was visiting Scotland the castle we was staying at had season one. We also went to castle Dune where the first season was filmed and Mighty python and the holy grail.
Outlander is on Starz. Not sure on West Coast if it's on Showtime. I'm in Las Vegas area and my family is in Chicago area and it is on Starz there also. This is my favorite show! So glad you are reacting to it! You are so easy to watch! I feel like we're watching it together! Hope you enjoy!
Here's a sad truth about being a writer. If you have time to read, then you have time to write. So you feel guilty reading because you're not working on your own projects. So I find it very difficult to create time to read with everything else that goes on in life. And Diana's books are so dense, they take up a lot of brain power to read. Especially one of When you want to binge a bajillion words. I hope to read them someday, and not when I'm 90.😁
In the books, she hears a buzzing sound coming from the stone (which is cleft). She touches it in order to lean over for a look at the beehive(?)... I like her husband, Frank, in the show. The show-runners were kinder to him than the books.
That wasn't a holiday, that was a SECOND HONEYMOON, where he spent MOST of his time with the reverend instead of his wife. This tells us that he doesn't really care about his marriage/wife until she's gone, how convenient.
react to the cool series that no one reacts * a discovery witches - 3 season - end * miss scarlet and the duke 1 season - now * grimm - 6 season - end * blue bloods - 12 season - now * castle - 8 season - end * charmed 1996 - 8 season - end * roswell 1999 - 3 season - end * warriors nun - 1 season - now
Seasons 1 and 2 follow the books pretty closely (each season is 1 book from the series). Season 3, though, the showrunner who started this series started backing off and delegating to others, and the show started to vary from the books in some odd ways (I won't spoil, but as a book lover, S3 was disappointing). There's a podcast that goes with the show; the first 2 seasons it was the original showrunner explaining various choices made to the viewers; by S3, it's the producers to whom he was delegating explaining their choices to him. By the end of S4, I found the show unwatchable; I haven't seen any of S5 or S6, nor will I. The books are fabulous, and most of the variations from the books are wholly unnecessary, in my NSHO. ;)
Season 4 was my favorite and love everything since. Even though they stray a little away from the books exactly, it's still one of the best book adaptions ever because the creators actually love the book and it shows.
