The love between Jamie and Claire is so real and it changes from season to season from the sensual and emotional in the first seasons to the loving and devoted and loyal in the later seasons! But Jamie/Sam and Claire/Cait are SO good together! No matter when you always feel the vibe and the attraction to each other! And this song just affirms that and makes it all the more beautiful and makes us so involved in their relationship! Again thank you for this! Dear Diane, thank you so much🥰 I'm always amazed myself cause even though I've seen the clips so many times through making the videos (and of course because I've seen the show countless times and will see it again and again), I never tire of them. I may have hundreds of clips, but ultimately the selection is limited and the images repetitive, and yet many of them give me goosebumps and make me experience moments of happiness, sadness or pain. By editing the individual clips, by enlarging, slowing down, cropping, etc., I always discover something new or perceive certain gestures or the emotions in the faces much more clearly. This makes it all the clearer how good Sam & Cait really are. Their eyes, their facial expressions, their signature gestures, the many little quirks that are so typical of their characters are what make Jamie & Claire so real. They become them as soon as they step into their roles, they have brought these characters to life and embody their distinctive chemistry incredibly well. They have grown and intertwined with them, and their personal relationship has evolved over the years and thrives on the special chemistry between them just as J&C’s have. What an incredible stroke of luck to have found these two, or fate (and another parallel), cause it's as if they were born for these roles, just as J&C were for each other. I love this show, and it's fulfilling to preserve the beauty of J&C's relationship, their love, for all like-minded people. ❤️🩷🧡😘

You make my heart feel like summer when the rain is pouring down You make my whole world feel so right - when it's wrong That's how I know you're the one That says it all, doesn't it? Especially because for Jamie & Claire it rains a LOT. They've endured more than their fair share of sorrows. Yet, in the middle of hardship and pain they continue to look for and find solace in each other. That inspires and moves me. So often those very things drive wedges between couples. Trust can be so easily lost simply because you're not on the same page in the way you deal with suffering. Or you can spiral into self-absorption, driving the other away. It takes real trust to be vulnerable and bare one's self in the middle of crisis and heartbreak. But here, they've found the opposite. Jamie and Claire have found the one person who helps bring the world back into balance. Who rights the scales. Yet even they have room for growth in that department which we saw in S6. (btw, I didn't see anything from S6. Did I miss something?) I like that even this aspirational couple can continue growing which makes it more real for me. But the point is, they have a bedrock of trust and there is something they find in one another that warms and comforts and brings deep joy to their hearts always, like sunshine in the summer. I always like to look at the opening and the ending, to see if they're bookends or if they show a thread of progression. You open with the Reckoning where currently homeless Jamie tells Claire that she is his home now and whether they get to Lallybroch or not is ok, because of her. We end with them having no home, again. But nothing has changed - they are still home. Love that so much! In the initial set-up we get the over-view of their relationship. Again, the Reckoning where the question asked, "Will you have me?" is so much more than, 'Can we have sex now?' It's the deeper questions he's asking, 'Will you let me back into your life? Can we start again? Will you trust me enough to let me love you?' She cannot resist him! And after some passionate lovemaking, they realize that they've truly surrendered their souls to one another. They are each other's masters. And the lyrics, "I'll be yours completely" sum it all up. Now we get to see the wedding, where this transcendent relationship has its one-sided beginning. (Jamie, already totally in love.) Always a treat. The scene where they fight in the stable and end up having sex is so right for the phrase "I know we'll have our disagreements, be fighting for no reason. I wouldn't change it for the world." Their fight was such a turn on to them both!. No wonder they wouldn't change some of those moments... "I know the first day that I met you" now begins the story in sequence. I like how we see the "summer" moments and the "rain" moments, back and forth. Another standout verse for me "Life, it's easy to be scared of. With you I'm prepared for what is yet to come, cause our two heart will make it easy, joining up the pieces, together making one." That's so them. There is no doubt that together Jamie and Claire make a formidable team. Intertwined they are incredibly strong, wise, compassionate and unbreakable. It was so beautifully expressed with their tender time in S4 by the fire. They'd by that time survived so much drama which began almost immediately when she returned from the future. And yet, there they were, completely happy to be together, full of gratitude. Amazing. The rest follows the lyrics and showcases some of the best scenes in the whole series. It's such a pleasure to see these recaps of those moments, while listening to music that brings a fresh perspective. Thanks again, as always. 🙏🥲💖
Once again unbelievable. I used almost the same words in my transcript for the lines “you make my heart feel like it’s summer…“ They really do say it all, and it's invaluable to have someone who gives you that sense of security, who is always by your side and brightens up even your darkest hours. And that's exactly what Jamie & Claire are. They are each other's light in the darkness. And you're right, many couples fail precisely at this point. In the bad times, when it's not all sunshine. They don't open up to the other person and don't make themselves vulnerable or aren't able to deal with the other person's weak sides. They are not able to support each other equally. So there was no question of taking the scene from The Reckoning as an introduction. The text almost demands it. As you rightly pointed out, Jamie's question "will you have me" is not just about whether she desires and wants him as much as he wants her. He wants her forgiveness and trust, he doesn't want to lose her. He wants her so much that he can hardly breathe, out of desire and lust as much as out of love. Her quarrels and her rebelliousness turned him on, back then just as it did later in the stable, but he wasn't sure of her love then. The rift between them gnawed at him and fueled his fear of losing her. He wanted to make up for the punishment and hoped to get a second chance from her to prove to her that he could do better, be a better man. The look on his face when he thought for a moment after his vow of fidelity that she wanted to leave him. The relief and happiness when it became clear that she would stay. He was so intoxicated that he revealed the secret about the ring and the key, as well as his extremely romantic motives. As with the argument after her release, he opened up to her and made himself vulnerable. He confided in her that he could get over the loss of Lallybroch because she was now his home. He knew that she didn't yet have the same feelings for him as he did for her, and yet he revealed them. No, she couldn't resist and the sex that followed led to an important realization. For both of them. As I've already said several times, for me it's probably the most decisive scene in their relationship. It forms the basis for everything that follows and is the reason why Claire also begins to burn for him. That flame will never go out, nor will their trust in each other, the knowledge of how special and powerful their connection and love is. So yes, I really love using this scene. What also fascinates and touches me is the fact that they don't shy away from arguments and are attracted to the other person. How much it turns them on when the other person is beside themselves with rage and bubbling over. Maybe it's because anger and passion both need fire. In an argument, this fire is ignited by anger, but it can of course easily be redirected into passion. This passion, the ability to desire the other person, even in an argument or in everyday life, is just as important for a functioning relationship as trust and love. Many couples lose this, which in my opinion inevitably leads to the end of any loving relationship. Even if there is no break-up, a relationship without passion and sexual intimacy is just a partnership. Perhaps a deep friendship, with a deep bond and affection, but no longer a loving relationship. Many couples do not manage to maintain this fire for a lifetime. Just as little as seeing in the other person their eternal light and happiness, their eternal sunshine. That's why, as you say, I wanted to portray the summery and rainy moments in equal measure, to come to the conclusion that these two will always be the one for each other. You might think that the 20-year separation has sharpened their focus on the essentials. Enjoying every day together, appreciating the other person, their love, loyalty and devotion, their faults and weaknesses, the balance, security and satisfaction that their presence brings. Simply the happiness of having found the one person and having them with you.
PS: You're right, S6 is missing. It wasn't that I deliberately didn't include it. Sometimes it's more a question of timing. Where am I in the song and the lyrics, where do I want to stop, how much time do I have left and which images fit the rest of the lyrics. After your explanation, I regret that a little, because it's true, S6 shows very nicely how even this strong couple can continue to grow and learn and how they deal with difficult situations. The thing with Malva illustrates their trust in each other and shows how important communication and honesty are.
