I think the best way to deal with people doing something bad is to not gve them a platform, don't spread it, don't feed the algorithm, no press is bad press.
People on the internet also tend to blow up any sort of drama, and make it this huge thing, were there has to be a villain, and that villain has to be the worst person to ever exist, when, like you said, it's often not that deep. I feel because of this actually serious situations tend to be washed out. Since everything is extremely important at the end of the day nothing is because it all gets grouped togheter. And there's also this need to take nuances out of situations and make them all black or white, since a strong statement gets more clicks than one that acknowledges grey areas
27:00 this is literally why I deleted insta. That shit made me so nasty, and seeing all the other platforms be like “Instagram comments are always so horrible,” I realized it was bringing out the nasty in me.
