I bought a package of white cheddar cheese slices at Kroger. It was the store brand. The expiration date was difficult to read but it looked like it was in late September. When I opened the package the cheese was moldy so I threw it away. I've read many comments on this channel and others about food that spoils quickly but this is the first time that it's happened to me.

I went shopping yesterday, Wednesday, July 5th. It was senior day, so an extra 10% off. I shopped only the sales and digital coupons, which made it possible for me to save 40% on my total purchase. In the current economy…I never impulse buy and always follow my list.

It's harder and takes a little work but you can still save and buy decent items. Our original total at Kroger (Fred Meyer) last week was $231 and we actually paid $114. Thats just over a 50% savings. Our shop included 4lbs shrimp, 5lbs of ribeyes, 3lbs 93/7 ground beef, 2 pks brats, 1 pk Italian sausage, avacados, english cucumbers, 2 chips, 12pk energy drinks (someone in our household takes them to work), 5 pks cheese, margarita mix, 6ct hershey bars, graham crackers, 2 pks marshmallows. I may have forgotten something but we stock up on sale items and meal plan from what we have.

I’ve never found Kroger affordable. I shouldn’t have to search through an app to clip coupons to get the same prices I can get at Aldi with zero work.

Mayo is 80% oil, so prices will be comparable to the high prices of oil.

You're telling me. Just spent $43 on 12 items at Walmart. Nothing extravagant either. I'm talking about Great Value brand on most of the items I bought. SMH

FYI. Alot of milk is spoiling just a few days after purchasing...after you open it...even with a date that is still good. Hence the sign for "guarantee will stay fresh for 10 days" sign. I've gone to pertty much just powdered n shelf stable milk. It's gotten that bad at times. Utah.

I went to two grocery stores yesterday and again, it was a miserable experience. Poor customer service when I needed assistance in reaching a product placed on the top shelf and pushed to the back, also, I had a hard time locating a product that had been moved. The store employee had a surly attitude about helping. No store brand ice cream available, the coffee creamers had been increased in price and a "for sale" sticker placed thereon which meant they were really the regular retail price of the recent past! The cantalope had no price visible to the customer and were very small. What did I do? I left the empty cart and walked out. My money is spent elsewhere or simply not at all. There are some things that I won't tolerate. Also, I came home and submitted a customer service survey report to the store manager where I had the most problems.

Yesterday I saw that vinegar was very low at a Kroger store in Columbus, Ohio.

Regarding Ramen..I have been reading suggestions about how to turn the package into a better meal. Just add a can of vegetables and or meat to it. I don't use the whole flavor packet but it is certainly a good base for soup. I also use the water in the veg can to the Ramen broth.

Prices are again going up/down around here. They need to stay down.

Our local Safeway has gone to digital coupons only no paper coupons in the ad anymore, but appears to javelin a number of unadvertised sales. It seems as if a lot of people were NOT using the digital coupons, more than normal leading into the 4th of July. Meanwhile there was quite a line at the single, personed register one of thise ti es with no one being willing to move over to self heck out where 2 people were on the ready for assistance.

I read a comment about pickling season beginning, I want to emphasize that point, I have seen pickling spice (which I sell) sales increase already. I think more and more people are home canning to try to elevate longterm inflation which is far more than 5% in food, its closer to 15% for food prices. Notice that number never gets publicized?

Yes, it is the same here in the UK certain things are very expensive and the prices vary from shop to shop, one really has to shop around. I try and find reduced items to buy, especially on fresh food and weekly bargains on other essentials. I have lived this life before 😅 because of my age so it really helps to cook from scratch. I do clip the coupons digitally or they reduce prices using Kroger/Ralph’s card

I have been hesitant about stocking up on perishable items right now. It is storm season and I am working on canning/dehydrating freezer items and produce to keep loss at a minimum. We have a generator but, even generators don't run forever. We had a lights out situation yesterday unforseen that affected multiple counties right in the heat of the day. Water is most important. Water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, flushing...water is most important. You will need more water than recommended. Grateful for the opportunity to test our preps and look for weak spots in our planning. The Kroger Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is great! Get the small bottle, usually has a couple mothers in it that you can use with fruit scraps to make your own vinegars.

So those Dunkin' pods are $10?! For only TEN CUPS of coffee?! O M G! I've never bought them, and now I remember why! Ridiculous!

Make sure you check to see if you are getting the $10 off on those days. I did a self check and had to ask for the $10. That was last week.

There are four Kroger stores in our area. I go around in a big circle a couple of times a week and shop their clearance sections. I use digital coupons as they still work on most of the clearance. I also use several rebate apps which work on clearance merchandise also. Example Kraft dressing is $1.49 this week, Ibotta app has $1.25 back on two, Kroger cash back has $1.25 back on two , that makes them 24 cents each.

I've been scouring YT and such for recipes that make bigger meals to try and stretch my budget. There's no more getting ingredients for one small meal. I need leftovers. It's so discouraging, but we do what we have to.

Just went to Walmart in Colville yesterday around 1:30pm it was nuts lots of canned goods & fruits, vegetables but frozen was just OK . I saw more people buy great value items than major brand label's but who can blame them.

Been hearing another wave of inflation is coming later this year.

I have heard some places where they get milk that is still safe for the expiration date, but they open it and it's spoiled already, or goes bad in a day or two, which is far from the date it's supposed to. That may be why they had that sign about milk being fresh for 10 days. I heard that about Aldi's I remember now, but may have been elsewhere too.

We live in Colorado and our Kroger store is City Market. We have a coupon for 4x the fuel points every Friday. I'm happy to shop on Fridays to get 4x fuel points on everything we buy, no minimum. It really helps.

Decided to pop in my Kroger yesterday. I was so underwhelmed I walked out without buying anything. That $2 off deal is disappointing. Does not hold s candle to $1 off minimum of 5 participating items.

Suddenly salad box got tiny. The crisco..fill a jar with an inch of head space. Push emergency candle in the middle. Make a moat around the candle. This candle will burn for days and heat your can of..... Hint, kroger brand last longer than the walmart brand. No foul smell. Children??? Should not be near fire anyway.

I'm raising five grandkids. So there's six of us. We get $411 food stamps. I have to put 4-500 each month with that. I cook daily. No frozen foods. It's killing us, as we are on a limited income. This isn't counting all other essentials for the home. I can't afford Kroger, unless it's a huge bargain, which is rare for Kroger.

That gallon milk is cheap, here in Jackson Michigan the Kroger gallon milk is 2.69 down from 2.89 which was that price for months..

Kroger Mayonnaise is excellent - every bit as good as the name brands.

I went to Walmart grocery shopping today. I was in shock! The whole store has been redesigned and all the food items have shrunk and gotten a lot more expensive! The cans of food were so tiny, like for one person only! I was in so much shock because we usually do ALL our shopping at Sam's Club or BJ's Wholesale Club and the sizes are bigger and seem cheaper. I wanted some sweets to snack on and some chips and etc. but all I got was a half gallon of Blue Bell Ice Cream as a treat. How is everyone surviving?! We are eating a lot of sandwiches, partly because of this bad summer heat I haven't had the appetite.

Hi Danno. My HEB store had a sell if you spend 35 you save 10. i got lucky as alot on there was things i use so i got extra. Kroger is a big competitor of HEB so not many around in Texas, at least on the side i live on. we can order on line and have it delivered but not worth it for me. thank you for sharing and yes Kroger is trying to get more stores in Texas, lol, will see what happens. enjoy rest of your day

The prices for paper products are outrageous, unless you have a coupon along with a good sale it's hard to buy name brand. I like buying Member's Mark Ultra-Premium Soft & Strong 2-Ply Toilet Paper, you get 45 rolls for less than $23 which isn't too bad and as the name states it's "soft and strong", can't be wiping with "sandpaper" lol.

I noticed that 2 different grocery stores in Oklahoma City has lowered the price of 3 lb cans of Crisco to 6.98 with a limit of 2. and the 2 lb box of velvetta for 4.99.

I have a question... Is the Kraft Deluxe Mac & cheese similar to Velveeta shells. & cheese? Crazy, but I've never tried the Kraft before.

I bought one box of Kroger Brand Kleenex yesterday for $1.69😮! I couldn't believe it!! A week ago 1 box was $1.25 or could get sale price of 4/$1 sometimes.
