Good job, Angelina BROlie! Goodman does this for Side Job McGee, who doesnt know what hes doing. Heres a tip to make things easier for the next guy (who may be you). on your next dryer changeout, cut you a piece of copper and stick it where the old dryer was. Now put your new dryer outside where it belongs! This is what my dad does:)

Nice Repair Lex! Just an FYI, Johnstone sells the heat blocker called "Hot Damn" which is like Hot Block for around $30. It will help keep the drier safer than the cool gel. Just giving u some useful information for the future as u do for all of us. Keep the videos coming Bro 💪

I just did this exact thing, but only 12 inches of space to next unit. I had to sit on compressor. They also had a suction side filter. I slipped a disc and can barely move now. The punchline; the remanufactured warrantied compressor ran sweet for about six hours and then shorted out to ground. In my experience, the remanufactured compressors suck much. Thanks for great vid though

Goodman installs the dryer in the unit to make sure a dryer is in the system. Too many cheap techs would not install one to save $20 on the install. That’s a lot of beer lol. I’ve seen over many years that a system without a dryer has leaks in the evaporator. I have no basis on this just years of seeing it.

I think they install the dryer at the factory to make sure the system has one. The manufacturer may be trying to cut down on warranties from dryers not being field installed or old dryers being left in place.

The reason the filter/dryer is inside the unit is years ago Goodman supplied them with the condenser and came to check on some installs at a large apartment complex and found that none of the filter/dryers were installed but thrown away in the dumpster.... So they decided to put them inside the units so they wouldn't be thrown away and installed on the units like intended

When checking a Copeland scroll compressor read Copeland megohm readings. The Supco merger will not read low enough. I stopped using a Supco meter long ago on Copeland scroll compressors. I almost change some good compressors until I read Copelands information. Just a warning.

Question 3 years ago hose spigot was moved now less pressure. 1/2 inch copper to gate valve a few feet after elbows added then outdoor spigot. Will 3 year old gate valve reduce pressure . Plumber mightove got solder in maybe?

@@LexVance im in the northeast 1000 miles from florida. 3 years ago the problem started when my friend had the hose spigot moved- they re used the same half inch gate valve and outdoor spigot- my pressure guage said 60 psi- im thinking of opening the gate valve and looking inside or sweating a new one on- just buy some couplings and a shoirt length of pipe- plus its right next to the wall so ill need a hacksaw to cut it and a heat shield to sweat new.. im guesing it can be the valve or the plumber left the old valve behind the stove and dint open it all the way?

I've heard that from great techs. I've also heard from other great techs that it's bullcrap & you can sweat them on & off as much as you like. I don't get bogged down in analysis paralysis. I’m experiencing the same Goodman issue I replaced The capacitor and it’s still tripping the breaker like in the video did an acid test it turned completely red I’ve neglected it since we moved into our home in 2015. So did replacing the drier filter solve the issue I know I have to get a hvac person to clean flush out the system I washed the outside fins I’m running out of guesses?? Any thoughts my unit is the exact One In the video GSX1404 something

I performed the same test but with my voltage meter. There was continuity and 0.2-ohms. Is that normal or bad?

On a compressor you ohm out all the pins. Start, Run and common. Then, add up the 2 smallest numbers and they should add up to the biggest number.

I hate to ask this question it probably going to be stupid but if it’s 100 outside what should the inside temperature should be it is thermostat is at 75 and it shows 78 inside is that normal sorry for asking

That's a pretty big split there. I'd say something's a little off. I'd check refrigerant pressures & make sure they're good. Get a good superheat if its a piston or subcool if it's a txv. Then I'd check the filter & coil & make sure they're clean. Or it could be just old mismatched equipment & needs to be replaced. I live in Florida where it gets 110 degrees and our Goodmans keep temperature pretty well. Even on the 3rd floor. Thank you so much for watching www.DirtyMaintenanceNation.com
