The 2022 Ford Raptor picture under the hood will have: Raptor pulling a dead T-REX out of the desert...Way to go MotorTrend Truck of the Year! I'm sure those who foolishly pay up to $40K over MSRP feel secure about their purchase. TRX will stand for: Tremendous Repairs Xpected. TRX: Total Recall Xtreme.
This man is going to be a legend. I am going to tell my kids about the time he took on a multi-billion dollar company single handedly and put them on their heels. #Legend
Wait a couple years for the hype to die down and give ram time to get some better employees that know what they are doing when putting these trucks together.
I've been looking at truck videos for a couple years from when I bought my first 2014 raptor to deciding between a 2020 raptor or a TRX. Your videos are absolutely the best. You provide great information in well articulated manner and provide links to great information. Thank you for your videos. FYI ended up buying the raptor because I refused to pay the ridicules mark up all the dealers wanted for the privilege of buying a TRX.
Yeah the ADM is crazy with the dealers trying to capitalize on the pandemic affecting the supply of TRX's. There are plenty of MSRP dealers but they aren't that easy to find
I'm glad I came across your reviews of the TRX. I understand you're NOT saying "Don't" buy. I am in the process of ordering a 2022 departing from my 2018 Raptor...Your reviews are giving me good reason to put the breaks on this deal and do more research. I appreciate you, your time and investment in your passion. Thank you.
Yeah the TRX is a great truck. Some are put together like crap and its suppose to be a halo vehicle. Everything wrong can be fixed but they need to do a better job consistently
@@BRAINFxck10 But Fiat Ram had 9 years to make this things perfect, Ford took a raptor off the assemble line when they first came out and ran and finished the baja 1000. The same year Ford took a 3.5 ecoboost ran it on the dyno at high rpm overnight then put the motor in a baja truck ran the baja 1000 with it took it back and put it on the dyno to see if it lost any power, it made the same power they then put it in an f150 and drove it cross country. I have yet to see Ram take the trx in the baja not only that they could have and should have had this truck out 5 years ago if they were just going to use the hellcat motor. I also dont think that anyone will see a trx with 150-200k miles on it like you see with the gen 1 raptors, I hope for all those out there that paid a premium for the truck it holds up but its not looking good and I could see the truck losing the tranny being a 1 time thing but its one thing after another I would be afraid to put my family in the trx. I hope Ram finds and fixes the issues fast so no one gets hurt or killed, if that happens there may not be anymore trx trucks because there might not be a ram division.
I understand that the first year a new model comes out there are going to be issues. However, a lot of these problems that you are pointing out, there’s no excuse. Ram has been developing this truck since around 2015 I believe so they’ve had plenty of time to get it right. Also the issues with not putting the bolts in correctly, not making sure to bolt it down all the way and other things like that, that’s just poor workmanship which is something that should not be not going on in a multibillion dollar company. I mean I understand that there are going to be some issues with the first year of a vehicle launch, but as much as this truck cost, this is way too many, this is ridiculous. This is exactly why I don’t buy and why I will never consider buying any ram vehicles! Awesome video man, keep up the good work!
Awesome info, hanging on to my 2013 6.2 raptor for now. 100k Miles and not a single major issue. Worst was losing a few bolts off my method bead-lock wheels. Drive it back and forth from Illinois to Moab UT and Deathvally CA every other year. It’s like a fine toned watch. Perfect. Sorry to hear of your problems. It’s a freaking beautiful beast of a truck! Hope the slow down and take more time on quality. Safe driving brother!
Man, Transmission fluid line leaking after an easy little ride on an easy trail.. how the hell is this TRX gonna do the baja 1000 without any problems?? Lol.
I use to work at Detroit Axle Chrysler plant before it was demolished hence Dana bad Carrier cases cracking. Now I am at Fiat Chrysler - Sterling Truck Assembly plant on Metro parkway and Van Dyke Ave. The TRX is assembled at my plant and this does not surprise me. They use to say it was probably built on a Monday or a Friday but we changed it to Monday thru Friday. Quality Control is almost none existent. I would have 1000 reasons why if asked but you don't want to know and I wouldn't speak about it on here.
@Speed Gate dude its outside diameter 3.0 not inside 😅🤣🤦♂️. And yes they are 3.0 shocks on the current Gen2 Raptor ... I own 2019. drive.google.com/file/d/1ERD0s2uLiZSdhlkcTjDawyGCygdEr_4G/view?usp=drivesdk Gen3 will have 3.1 diameter shocks. The difference is that Raptor Shocks are specifically made by FOX for a Raptor. You can get upgraded FOX 3.0 Race Series from FOX which are about $6K for front and back.
@Speed Gate the RAMS TRX shock body is 2.5" man. So piston inside is probably 1.5 to 2". Every single shock is measured on outside diameter not the piston inside. 3.0" diameter means more fluid/nitrogen fits inside which equals in better cooling damper and rebound action depending on inside design. Damping and recoil depends on little holes inside the puston assembly how much fluid/nitrogen they let thru. TRX used 2.5" body shocks because of coils in the back instead of Leaf Springs like om Gen2 Raptor. With coils in the back 2.5" shocks perform similar to 3.0" shocks with leaf springs. On Gen3 Raptor they are putting Coils in the back with 3.1" shocks so suspension way superior to TRX. Look at every video how TRX nose dives since its heavy in the front. Ram should've use at least 3.0" in the front to offset extra 1000lbs of weight but that would add another aprox. $4K to the price of the truck. Dont get me wrong TRX is good truck for mild washboard offroad but it wont do well in hard fast bumps
@Speed Gate yes they proven that with 1000lbs more TRX should've used 3.0" shocks at least up front with this truck being Nose Heavy. On StreetSpeed jump rear Shocks didn't bust because of bump stops which prevented shocks from bottoming out and front ones didn't bust even though they bottomed out because rest of the front took the main impact when truck landed ... thats why his whole front was messed up.
Ok I’m not saying those issues are acceptable but I noticed every brand new ram 2500 with the 6.4 has the same tick noise, so I think it’s normal exhaust manifold noise. the assembly line won’t stop to address issues because it would delay production and cost them millions of dollars. All of the issues should have been caught at the dealership at the pre delivery inspection but the problem these trucks are they being rushed through the process because customers want them the day they are delivered to the dealership. All I’m saying is give the dealer ample time to properly inspect it before you take delivery.
To me the tick is an issue they want to say is normal because like yo said it would cost them millions of dollars to fix everyone and recall the old ones that make that sound.
@@ButterDaInsider Even without the missing bolts and other issues they are having the TRX is still Fiat junk. The TRX front end is way to heavy for the suspension and it shows in it's poor/sluggish off-road performance. Buy a Raptor.
Thanks for the legwork, in St. Louis and they are currently building mine, will go to the forum page to get the list, couldn’t figure out how to put in my info though, ramcares just told me it was currently being built. Thanks for doing what you do!!!!
I can personally say I work at the plant that assembles the TRX and when I say the lack of training and the fact that they don’t stop the line so we can properly do these trucks is insane. When I did my first TRX they had the launch team which was like 5 or 6 ppl and the SRT team walking with the truck and trying to tel is what to do while the line is running at normal speeds
Do you happen to have any more info on the Engine Squeak issue shown here at 15:14… or possibly be able to put me in contact with the owner? My Trx sounds just like it and is currently at the dealer for diagnosis. Thanks for all your info you put together and keeping us all informed!!
This is why a lot of people said when Fiat bought Chrysler it would go down hill. I am 40 and from the day I could drive always wondered why people pic the brand they pick and what it usually comes down to its what their parents said was the best or what their parents drove. So I decided I would make my own choice and with almost every relative I have worked at gm if I didnt go with gm I would hear it. Well I have owned 13 Chryslers, 15 gm and a lot of fords. Now all my drag cars I build are Fords and all my trucks are Fords why because I made my own choice and its the brand I have had the least amount of problems with, will I buy another brand sure i am not gonna pass on a deal but I will always own a ford. Right now I have a 2003 cobra, 2012 raptor and my wife drives a 2020 f150 and after my wifes dad towed a blazer to Ohio from New York with my wifes 2.7 ecoboost he went out and got a 2016 f150. So I wish when people bad mouth a brand at least have the courtesy to have owned the other brands and base it on experience there is a reason 90 percent of ambulances are super duty's. Fiat ram need to get their act together or these little mishaps are going to cost someone their life and then there wont be anymore trx because there wont be a Fiat Chrysler Ram company anymore, and no one wants that because then a lot of jobs will be lost and I think its cool that we have the horsepower wars going on lets just hope it keeps going and we dont all end up driving Volts or Priuses because that would suck donkey.
Almost every one of these vehicles (all new vehicles) are picked up from the Ram dealership. I blame the dealerships for any of these issues not being addressed before the customer takes delivery. A PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) MUST be done. From bumper to bumper every item on the vehicle should be inspected. If a loose suspension bolt is loose, it gets tightened. Low oil level found, it’s topped off. If a brake bulb is not working, it’s fixed. Every vehicle, before a customer is even contacted to schedule their delivery, should be gone over and ANY issues found should be rectified before delivery. The same should be done if the vehicle is going to be on the lot for inventory. These days dealers want people to take their new purchase home with them almost immediately. They want the customer to drive it and return with any issues they find. New car delivery and customer satisfaction has never been a priority for any Dodge/Ram delivery I’ve ever experienced. The dealers and their service departments are their own worst enemy. These issues in these videos should almost never appear for a customer. It’s ridiculous and Ram should be embarrassed. They need to step up and make buying this vehicle a unique, worry free experience. Rant over.
Its sucks we have to beat the dealers up for inspections. FCA should send out a TSB to all dealers that a mandatory inspection of all these issues must be checked during PDI before releasing to customers. Especially for 100k trucks. Someone is going to get hurt!!!! Unacceptable!!!! I'll be picking mine up this weekend and I'll be crawling underneath and If I find an issue after PDI shit is going to hit the fan!
These trucks aren't being manufactured the way they were supposed to. I work on the assembly line in Sterling Heights and FIAT told us this truck would have different processes and that we'd be given more time to focus on it. Of course that was a lie and they're overworking the employees with a 3 shift, 6 day work week Mon-Saturday. It's all about that bread and they selling like hotcakes. The skilled trades engineers are being forced to work 7 days -_-
See now I understand now, since the SRT team is being dismantled, they like, "We're screwing up everything until y'all give us new jobs." Lol because how can numerous hellcats engines be produced and the TRX had a wrong injector case?
@@jonathancolbert6666 but iam a mopar fan 😢 i cant change that but this is reall disheartening yet im still happy they put a hellcat in it just not 100% ready for the road
@@sergzamor1268 Well it is the TRXs first model year. First model Raptors had their share of issues when they first came out. Hopefully in years to come RAM will iron out the kinks
"Hemi tick" is normal because of the Hemi's unique valvetrain, which has roller rockers instead of rocker arms. I can't stand when people say Hemi's have bad lifters because of Hemi tick. People also get Hemi tick confused with exhaust leaks from the exhaust manifolds, because exhaust manifold bolts break on gen III commonly. Lastly, I've read that Stellantis U.S.A. is forcing controversial 7 day shifts on their employees, a good reason for employees to sabotage their new pride and joy truck. Hell, maybe Ford payed them off lol. The main thing is, this kind of crap can't go on forever.
@@ButterDaInsider hemi's have roller rockers. Chevrolet's have rocker arms. People think that just because they are both pushrod they are the same, but they are not. Everything else is sohc or dohc.
I have the same ticking engine sound on my Ram 1500 big horn I took it in and they said it’s a normal noise when it’s cold, I just finished a lemon law on my ram it’s being turned in next week 8/10
Most of these problems are just assembly. Get what you want and just have it looked over. Should be fine with any thing you get. Only things I'm looking at is a Bronco, Raptor R, and Hummer EV to add to the channel
Jeez H Christ. This video is killer. Ram has a massive internal QA issue. Nothing sucks like workers sabotaging their own bread and butter. Change your HR management and talk to your union people, Ram. These issues are poison from the inside out.
As much as I love the Hellcat engine I have always thought one thing.... Made in Mexico Hellcat engine on assembly line vs 5.2L Predator Supercharger V8 hand built on the Niche line by 1 worker if I'm incorrect please let me know
The TRX has a base price of 70 grand. If you want the optional working transmission, you can expect to pay upwards of 100 grand. One of the most expensive yard ornaments available to the public.
FCA/RAM's train transportation quality assurance is garbage. They bent my K member on my 2016 Challenger Hellcat. The car couldn't do over 45 mph without shaking and rattling. After 10 months worth of dealership time, 3 sets of new tires, new adjustable torsion bolts, and a SRT engineer......the car never drove correctly. Do not allow your dealership to do delivery prep before you see your vehicle up on a rack and personally do a top to bottom visual inspection. I attempted a lemon law action at 16 months. FCA had me take it to multiple dealerships and once my 36 month warranty was up they acted like they didn't know me. I barely drove the car. It spent most of it's 36 months in the dealership's garage or in my own garage awaiting parts or disposition. The Ca. lemon law arbitrator concur with my claim, but because the car was outside the warranty period and I had accepted the vehicle every time the dealer did something and gave it back they were washed of the liability. I should have never closed out each work order and taken possession. I should have test driven after each time received and gave it back to them. DO NOT take possession of your vehicle until all work is completed and you are satisfied. DO NOT fall for the dealerships crap of "we can't keep it her until your parts come in.....we don't have the space......we'll call you and you can bring it back". Every minute that your car is not in there possession on a work order number means you are on the warranty clock and have all the liability.
I have a raptor and a trx.. my Raptor is constantly needing timing chains and phasers, it has 45k miles on it.. 10k since the last phaser chain replacement, and it needs it again. My TRX 50miles on it and I put it in the shop to check the tick from the left side. Personally, I think the tick is a non issue.. only does it in gear, and 100rpm more it goes away..thats with 3 more psi oil pressure. My TRX is awesome and blows the Raptor away in everyway. Every manufacturer has issues.. Its whether or not they stand behind the warranty.. oh, my Boss mustang needed a motor at 8k miles, bad wrist pin.
Yeah they all do. I just don't do the others because I don't have a truck from Ford or GM to do videos on them. I was holding out hope that Ford would put the hybrid power pack in the Super Duty but I was bummed when they just skipped it. I would of love to have another Super Duty
Thank you for the video. Not a surprise Dodge isn't reliable but this... I put money on the side because I wanted to wait and see what the TRX was about once one of my dealers had it. This genuinely worries me. Everyone saying it's the first model year and this is normal and blabla... shut up lol this is a 100k+ truck and the quality control is non-existent?? These go legit for about the same as a Mercedes G class where I live, imagine if they had issues like this. Ram just takes yalls money and laughs in your face because they know they sold you a piece of junk and you wanted it. Ngl the TRX is so cool and I still kinda want it, but I know I shouldn't buy it cuz this is ridiculous... ugh I hate this
@@gs300rich4 likewise. Bilstein is a great company who's product is something anyone could stand behind, the issue is the vehicle they were put on and/or whoever put it together.
About 50/50 of the videos I seen thus far on the 75th Anniversary Edition it was missing the Power Wagon Decals. I love Ram and will be in the market for a truck soon but all this stuff is worrisome at the least.
@@henrywatson3604 Depends if Ram releases it. They have it held because of my videos. They act like I don't know 30 dealers that can get me another one SMH
People always say that oh with modern technology, that's not true about first year model cards, but as we see, you should still wait until the kinks are worked out.
Yeah like when he drove from the desert and knew his transmission was leaking ON CAMERA. And then Ram overnighted a new transmission when others have been sitting for months go get parts for their 90k bricks... Yeah I seen it lol
@@ButterDaInsider 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆. He was stupid taking his expensive truck out there in the first place. I like my vehicles to last a long time. He should have bought a better truck and beefed it up for that
Excellent real life truth about fiat ram no more secrets .. I've been trying to comment my experience with fiat ram and how bad the product is since fiat took over and let me tell you I'll never ever ever ever own another fiat but you have guys like Ben Hardy after his transmission failed do to a lose transmission line saying rams just great good service blah blah blah but we all know the only reason they treated him good is because he's a RU-vidr that's reviewing the truck for hundreds of thousands to see . My experience was nothing like that . I had a engine making awful sounds and they would tighten a clamp to the air box and think its fixed well after bringing it to a real mechanic the diagnoses was worn lifters and rollers and im willing to bet that's why that engine is ticking in this video sounds like mine did at idle. Also Ben hardly claims ram is the best truck on the road.... seriously ben?? More people need to see this real deal discussion on how poor of quality the fiat products are mainly the trx in this video but they are all the same now I know first hand unfortunately. Thanks for the honest video on these trucks.
Crazy how we get further in technology but quality takes a backseat. Double digit TRX's are messed up this week I got to do more defective videos on SMH
Well ya i mean any trans with no fluid will blow up its common sense he saw it leaking and still kept driving down 1 and half to the dealer til it got serious and couldnt drive. He had the fault there but at the same time not his fault it was dealer since it was new shouldnt have had any issues. Yet it happens to anyone you just gotta be alert you see something funny like leaking stop just stop driving it.
Not really that surprised at all this but it has seemed to gotten worse! I’ve watched the market for years, I’m 57 now, and it ebbs among the Big3 from time to time. But I see Dodge/Chrysler going down a path lately that would have Lee Iacocca turning in his grave with embarrassment if he could see it. This lack of quality is unacceptable to anyone and a vehicle of such a high price is surely almost criminal. To take ownership from a car dealer that let this get by them in n first place is real surprising. I guess these parts could have fallen off but that isn’t the right answer either. These parts weren’t installed correctly to begin with. Sorry to see quality is not a priority at Ram as it were.
The company is now known as Stellantis. Since the merging of Peugeot with FCA....name changed and possibly even worse quality to come. I gave up on the big 3 around 2000. My wife and I have now owned 4 Toyotas. I have a 6 month old Tundra. Yup...it is harder on gas but other than a rattling glove box door, it is rock solid. Is it perfect...well almost. I just had the battery replaced under warranty. If that is the biggest problem I ever have...I can live with that. Seeimg the poor build quality of the TRX is just astounding. Who in their right mind would buy anything JEEP or RAM??? Absolute garbage. I will go out on a limb and say this would not happen with Toyota. I have met people who work for Toyota and their QA is real tight. I met a guy who purchased an item we sold him and he told me that he switched to Toyota because of the tight standards.
Yeah, FORD is experiencing this with the new bronco sport. The entire rear suspension assemblies are missing bolts or bolts are loose. This is common place with all manufactures to have manufacturing issues. Robots break down or experience issues with performance.
Bronco sport LOL all manufacturers have some issues it’s inevitable. Just the sheer ratio at witch the trx is having them is insane. You could buy 4 or 5 Bronco sports for one trx. You pay 100k for a vehicle you expect the quality that comes with the price. They had 10+ years to research and develop and work out the bugs. You call out the Raptor and put cute little pictures of a T Rex eating a Raptor you better have a phenomenal and problem free product.
I subscribe to your channel and hope no one is trying to sabotage your channel. I fully support your efforts and encouraged others to go to your channel. I was going to trade my 2019 Limited for a 2022 TRX, but after all the RAM issues, I'm not sure what I'm going to do, except definitely NOT get a Raptor.
NEVER buy the first year of a redesign or new production vehicle. Advice given to me by my father that I have always subscribed to. There is always going to be problems that need to be identified or worked out in later iterations. I will look at TRX's next model year.
