i think the saddle would work better for Sophie if she drops her stirrups a hole or two, they're short and forcing her into a chair seat

Hey guys. Lady is absolutely gorgeous. How old is she?? What has she done to date? I found myself feeling a little panicky watching Sophie ride her today. I can feel that Lady has a lot of power and she appears to be napping slightly towards to gate, and isn’t overjoyed with the pole work Sophie is asking her to do. I can’t put my finger on it but she’s completely comfortable with something - I’m worried she’s going to throw a bit of a hissy fit and it will scare Sophie. With all the love and respect in the world- Sophie isn’t ready to be a schooling a horse without guidance. I saw a couple of times where Sophie appeared to be asking Lady to do something and Lady didn’t want to, and Sophie didn’t really deal with it well. That’s going to create problems. I wonder is it possible for Gabby to be there when Sophie is riding? Or get Brandon to come over?

I believe she was a carriage horse if I remember the introductory video of Lady. She’s Brandon’s horse and hasn’t jumped nor cantered (atleast not much undersaddle.)

@@bursty5454 oh gosh really?! Why on earth did Brandon think she’d be suitable for Sophie?? Sophie doesn’t need a horse that’s in anyway green or inexperienced in the basics. Talk about setting this kid and her family up to fail.

@@leannejohnson8845 Well from the video and mostly memory it sounded like Brandon was hesitant about it. Neither is right and I feel like the family aswell has enough knowledge to know this might not be the “teacher horse” for them after all the other horses they tried like the ottb. Just my opinion but I might be wrong, again I’d suggest watching the intro video😭🫶🏼 but I do hope the best for them!!

@@bursty5454 I’ve been watching the channel for quite a while. After everything they’ve all been through with their horses, it’s my biggest prayer for them, that all find happiness and that now Laura has Penny, i would so very much love to see Sophie with a lovely all rounder with experience that can carry her in whatever direction she wants to go, and for Gabby to find a horse that she can bring on and mould into what she wants. I would really love to see all three of them riding together, happy, smiling and safe… maybe Sam could get a horse too?! Or a pet cow and go out with them lol. That’s my wish and prayer for them.

It’s great Sophie is riding. You are right it looks like Lady is herd bound, things will only get worse unless you nip the problem in the bud! The only way to fix a herd bound horse is to have them in between your legs and hands so they know your legs and hands have meaning. You have to fix them one rein at a time. Pulling back with two reins won’t fix a herd bound horse, you have to do excersise a to get their mind on you. One rein and one leg at a time. It will be good for Sophie to have proper lessons to help with this! Also I’m confused on the saddle fit. I thought that your professional said it fit lady fine. It was moreso the fit for Sophie? If this is Gabby’s saddle just looking from the video it’s an even worse fit for Sophie? Maybe you can get your rep or trainer to help?

Sophie you need to be firm and use those legs, need to squeeze with the outside leg if Lady is napping that direction. Give a little kick if you have too, can even use your voice as well with a stern No! She needs to listen to what you are asking. She what she is like with you just holding a riding crop on the side she is napping, it helps with some horses.

Ugh saddle fitting is the worst, I’ve been all over with English saddles with my guy . Finally after 5 years found a brand that works. You should look into bates saddles for her( they have where you can modify for the horse and rider, and with the continuous changes of horse’s muscling, they have fixes to go with the life of the horse) if that makes sense:)

I know of another thing that you could do you could use an old dipstick from a car that I would wash it first and put a head of lettuce and hanging up in the chicken coop that's what my husband did for me for my chickens and they love it so funny to watch I'm trying to Peck at it as a swinging

Good morning fam! I love yellows Laura! Aww She a beautiful baby for sure!! Wow Gabby's painting looks amazing!! Yeah them ducks are really growing fast! Since when has Sophie been rearing to go riding? It's like that's all she wants to do now! Lady has brought out an all new Sophie!! We are allot alike Laura when it comes to hobbies and i am not one tp go with a big group of people either! I don't know what my fav snack is cause it's always different!! Morning all from the UK, on Monday the 24th June worm and summer's DAY. Your grandchild is so nice, I addmer Sophie for riding in different situations, AS when you go to show you neve NO what your going to find . Don't let lady do what she wants, make here lison to you.
