Hold on Sally, let's talk about this. The average bass fisherman cannot afford a "bad a$$" 80K rig. The average bass boat buyer doesn't care if they can make the boat awesome because they can't afford it. That tandem axle trailer that is so cool...yeah we all like the looks too but the average guy is going with a single axle because it is cheaper and the boat doesn't weigh enough to justify a tandem axle. As for the electronics, you delete the trolling motor and small 5inch graph and save a cool $1K. Few boat companies let you delete both the trolling motor and electronics. Now let's ask how many care about power poles or a jack-plate...far more don't care than do. And for those that do, the manual slidemaster jack-plate is far cheaper than the "bad ass" hydraulic Atlas. So...you get a 150 Merc, 6 inch slidemaster jackplate, trailer brakes, boarding ladder, electronic & trolling motor delete...for $34,099. But wait, that is the Ranger website price. Go to any good (non-Bass Pro/Cabela) Ranger dealer and you can get another 2K off that price. So $32,099 plus TTL. But wait, you also get a lifetime Ranger hull warranty...that's transom, exterior welds, interior ribs, etc... Ranger often will replace the boat vs sending parts to weld like Crestliner. And Vexus...can we say 5yr warranty (only exterior welds get lifetime with Vexus). Hmmm...I thought Vexus made the best boats? Why doesn't their warranty back it up? For the masses, to get a 60mph bass boat brand new for $32,099 is a deal..even if you have to add your own graphs and trolling motor later. Buy cheap then put custom precision sonar mounting plates, 16 inch graphs...whatever you want on later. Even have the dealer install it if you want...they would love to. Now that's how a boat company stays profitable and sells boats. Want to guess what the wait time is to order an RT198P from the factory? Hint, don't hold your breathe. They sell them as fast as they can build them. Honestly, I loved the comment that you don't care if a boat costs $75K as long as you can add what you want and it goes fast!

You wanna get real pissed team marine? Throw a tape measure on it. They are 6” shorter then advertised. I bought a RT188P. 32k otd helix 7’s fortrex 80. It’s ok. Something to get me by for the time being but rangers customer service is garbage. I won’t be a customer again.

Bought a 2021 with hummingbird 10 bow and console ultrax 80 twin axle trailer and rt packages only 43000.

Lol 😂 loved it. So (prior to watching) ordered a 2021 rt188p and was just as frustrated with the lack of options. Although I was able to get the hydraulic jack plate with dual power poles. No interior light options, no radio or speaker options, no 150hp options, no 10-12inch screen options etc.. my total came out to 42k fully loaded with their one page of options lol. Well simply put I’m going to be an installer myself prior to getting this rig the way I want it.

Bought a ranger rt-178c big mistake boat will not plane motor will not rev higher than 3500 RPM with two people in the boat three people in the boat that barely goes...

So, I've seen two of your reviews, one for a Vexus ASX and then the Ranger RT198P. Both boats you said are way too expensive and doesn't configure right. If that is the case, what do you recommend in the same size, etc.

You told them how it is Andy! Ranger s quality went to sh@# after Johny bought them. They are using the exact cheap hardware on them that are on the Nitros and also they dont sand the fiberglass down under the console anymore. Try Rigging one? My buddies arm looked like he slid in through a broken window after he rigged one. Fiberglass shards sticking out everywhere under the console and inside the gunnels.

Hmm ok so this is confusing, the website does say the 6” manual setback plate allows foe the dual power poles, but then it says on the dual power poles option that the jackplate only is required. So the question is, does the 6” manual setback plate need to be bought with the atlas’s hydraulic jackplate foe dual power poles or what? Because a plain reading of the build website basically requires both the manual setback and hydraulic jackplate for both power poles. SMH now I’m confused and I think the dealer I went to is wrong. He said that you only need either or, not both, so I went with the hydraulic, but now I’m thinking that may be wrong.

Live the series but I think you are missing the point for many buying these. A 19’ aluminum bass boat buyer, for the most part, are not buying 4 graphs and power poles. Maybe 3, but usually just 2 8-10” graphs and a spot lock trolling motor. If you want speed and all the other stuff, you are not buying this boat. That said, it is way overpriced like you said.

My friend had a RT188 Ranger. He was super proud of it until he hit a floater running about 25 in a rainstorm and broke the transom.

Could've SAVED some $$$$ by taking that 9" outa the Skeeter ZXR20 you were gonna torch, Andy, and put THAT into this Ranger and BURN down the whole thing with that 8 GA wiring. BOO-YAHHHH!!

Used boats are the way to go... SOOOOOO many good ones out there, legendary ones too, champions, early 2000’s Rangers, Stratos, etc.

You buy the name for $35000.oo then you add $25000.00 to fish out of a Ranger. Great view, but you get a coin box in case you have to pay a toll on the water.

I never finished watching but yeah since Johnny Morris bought them out you can only get Mercury 🤮 motor. I'm ashamed of Ranger and the Quality it is any more. I still have an Rt 188 but mine was made during Ranger still own them. I wish you would do Avid boats. Only thing is they are only a southern boat company. I just ashamed of what Ranger is any more. Over priced tracker.

Way overpriced. I owmed one just because I got a really sweet deal but I sold not a quality boat at all. Way overpriced for a new boat. I made money off mine but I would never recommend this boat to anyone.

Who would get that boat over a loaded nitro z18 or z19?

Ranger has been over priced for years. Plus the quality of the boat has been going down. Maybe that's the reason the Ranger boats have been sold over and over and over again! Not sure if the legendary Johnny Morris himself can save the brand. Great video. Keep them coming!

I have a 2022 RT198 loaded and the coin box is huge and a great step. Bottom i paid $43,000

RT188p is designed to catch fisherman, not fish. They suck and will wet yo Azz!

With a pad hull those198s need at least 200 to even be interesting and carry the bow good. Still they're way over priced cause you can get an avid 20ft aluminum boat like you want with a 200 sho for the same price as the 198p.

Ranger's tins are better suited for the 75hp-115hp class now entry-level 17ft-18ft range any higher class of tin your better off going to Vexus or Xpress.

I hate hearing this news because I was actually gonna buy one to replace my '87 Ranger 350v😞Glad ya did this over/under for me. You guys are great! Looks like I might put 30-40k into my old Ranger because anything I can afford is J-U-N-K!!!! Doesn't ANYBODY still make an affordable good bass boat anymore?!!! My old Ranger still does 65 with a 150 but has no deck space. Speed is not a factor for me anymore but something that drafts less and has more deck space/storage space is critical as I'm no longer a GL guy. Damn that JM!!!!

My Ranger rt178 has a Yamaha 70 on it.

Came back to this and it’s still fantastic. Have to admit I have a 2023 RT198 P and I love the rig. Got previous model year so saved $5k.. have two HDS 12” at the console, Elite 9 and garmin 12” at bow all with BBT mounts with Livescope. Ghost TM running 36V. Atlas jack plate and power poles. It’s tin yes, tops out at only 55 mph with the 150 Pro XP. But it’s a solid platform and I’m all in for $60k rigged exactly how I want it. I’ll take the trade offs to save $40k of my dream boats 🤷🏻‍♂️

Im from Flippin. I dont know what the hell JM is doing with Ranger but none of it is good! He moved the aluminum plant to MO, right after Forrest Passed away. (Coincidence) They fire a large percentage of employees every year and then have hiring fairs.. Ranger started going down hill after Forrest sold it even though the main guys where still there. But I have not heard a single positive thing about Ranger since JM bought it. Everyone who could leave pretty much has. Ranger & Triton both are becoming the laughing stock right next to Nitro and tracker. Its sad. Legend & Stratos are gone, makes you wonder how much longer Ranger & Triton will actually be around?

Why not just get a nitro z20 or z19 pro for that much..I personally would never buy another aluminum or even consider a nitro..first boat was a rt178, had it purpose but now I rock a phoenix 721 pro xp.

Fake news! Got my rt188p with a 15" helix up front, 12" on the console, dual power poles and an atlas hydraulic jackplate.

Basically the 1988 374V Ranger I paid 18K for new was the same boat. Actually the 1988 Ranger was probably a better boat. WTF

Only kind thing I will say about the JM boats is that they're made for those that don't care about upgrades or going fast. They're built cheap to be cheap(er). For experienced boaters, we know JM has bought up and ruined many brands and put out garbage boats. But if you're a grandpa wanting to crappie fish or take the grandkids out bluegill fishing, you probably won't care the welds break and service is awful. There are enough of those folks out there for JM to think it's good business.

I bought a 2017 brand new with a 150 merc 4 stroke and fortrex trolling motor 7” graphs out the door for 29,870$. I changed the trolling motor to an ultrex 24 volt 80 ft. Lbs. and made new dash plate and mounted a 12” hds carbon. A year later the HULL SPLIT straight under the seats. 6” from the keel and forward about 3 feet it split in the exact same place both splits were 8-14” long. They took it back and built me a new deck and hull and mounted all my stuff to it and I added the hyd jack plate and tilt steering while they had it in flippin. Got it back and starboard front locker wouldn’t close because the opening wasn’t big enough for the latch to close without hitting. Saw this before I picked it up from flippin. They came over and air reciprocating sawed the opening bigger freehand and put a new weather strip on the edge and sent me on my way. After using it again for the first time the front deck lids height didn’t match so walking around on the front deck was a trip hazard. Independent dealer NOT Bass Pro took care of me and gave me 300$ under what I paid for it two years previous on a trade so I got the Z520C cup package with a 250 merc pro xs and love it. Love the over under videos.

I got a 2021 RT188 (non-P). Downgraded to a 90 4Stroke to afford putting a Ghost on the front, loaded the options, $38k out the door before covid inflation killed the market. Very happy with the boat!

So, what do you think about Ranger Boats

You should build out their 19' glass rig and compare prices. 50k for tin is insane!!

I was looking at a 198p at cabelas when the salesman came up . I pointed ot the fact the rod tubes were broke loose from face plate and a quarter of the tube was hanging in front of face plate holes on all tube. He told me I should use rod socks so the guides wouldn't catch. Didn't say anything about we will get that fixed. I didn't waste my time with weld quality on the boat. No sale! Drove 3hrs the next weekend and bought a vexus.

Coin box is for the old saying ever time you catch a fish pay some change they trying to safe you some money lol. Yeah no thanks.

I have a friend that has one of these. It has been replaced by Ranger twice be the hull split wide open... can't recommend that boat

And let’s go more steps further in what Johnny Morris did to this boat: - gel coated fiberglass cooler- gone. Now plastic - “Ranger Trail” trailer - no more “c” channel frame. No more reverse lights. - No more Sea Star hydraulic steering. Now Bay Star. You can see the Tracker influence coming out in these boats. I know it’s just a tin rig, but you felt like you were getting higher end options coming out of Flippin. The build sheets on these are only slightly better than that of a Tracker. Ok I’m done now. 🙂

The ol glorified bass tracker is what I call my 198p lol. It’s been a solid boat since I picked it up new in 2020. I was able to get mine out the door with everything I wanted on the boat and the platinum mercury warranty under what the starting price is now… I do wish it had more available options but oh well, my next boat will be a glass boat and I’ll get everything I want on it then.

I'll take my loaded comfortable Lund Impact 19' for $46k.

Mft will void the hull warranty if you drill thru, as you know. Mercedes voids the warranty if you use a sandwich plate. Coin box is good when you have to go under the toll bridge. Did a custom build for PP for an older customer with no legs from the knee down. Learned a lot from that build. Great video brothers.

It makes no sense to me why Ranger limits the options to be able to upgrade to a different motor, better electronics, etc! A lot better other brands out there.
