I remember Charlie from the Gobi March some 17 or so years ago. He is the same down to earth person I had met back then. Great interview Floris! Enjoyed this interview full of good life lessons very much.

This is by far one of the best podcast of Extramilest and my two takeaways: 1. No Big Deal - Nothing is big or small / Good or bad as long as you are positive or have a positive mindset 2. Break the miles in small goals in a race and it will be much easier and enjoyable....

Hi Floris, This is an Amazing interview and very useful. I have been following most of your videos, and I love your video's - especially the one you shoot on the run, the 100 miles video is great. What I specifically liked in this Interview with Charlie was his use of word SOBRIETY - a couple of time and I was stuck with that word, however, as the interview unfolded and Charlie kept sharing his life and adventures It was so clear that Mr. Charlie is living example of Sobriety, His life is inspiration, the 111 days run, the disciplined life in prison, the community service H2O project, Wow, all that. And Now the new project in 2019. I would like to meet him and offer my volunteer service to him when he arrives in India and run across India some 2000 km's. Thanks a log for this amazing Interview. Pl keep posting your videos. I run using Dr Phil advise I am 52, running since 2014, about 2000+ km per year, and I run at 128 to 133, definitely under 135 BPM, 5 days a week. And you are my role model. See you Regards PRamod

If you changed accents, Floris could play a young Charlie in a movie and it would look perfect. Or Charlie could play Floris after a few years had gone by. No prosthetic make-up necessary.
