Overgrown 4 Yr Old Feral Llama’s First Ever Shearing

This is a common story of simple misunderstanding with serious results. This boy has not been shorn his entire life. At the mature age of 4 years, he is strong and not halter broken. Situations like this are a constant dance with danger. Thankfully, no one was seriously harmed and this boy had a good experience that we can build on for years to come. #everyanimaleveryyear #shearingiscaring 🤘🏻

A lot of it has to do with how skilled she is at reading what he’s feeling and thinking, moving when he’s had enough in one spot, coming back later…. Letting him know she isn’t going away, either. It was like watching a dance with an experienced partner.

I'm not surprised when a man does something stupid. It could have also been intended as sabotage, but my money's on general stupidity, especially given how long this one hasn't been shorn.
@B.Harper7
@B.Harper7 Месяц назад
Let's be honest, it's an old guy and his grandson in Texas who, haven't even shorn their Mountain dwelling animals in 4 years; we know they're not intelligent. Even aside from an empathy thing, why let any part of your herd get stressed out, overheated, and die?
@MarySanchez-qk3hp
@MarySanchez-qk3hp 17 дней назад
I was most impressed that she bluntly told them to be quiet. That llama had never been touched or shorn, it must’ve felt like a real,shock, and both she and he could’ve been hurt. The animal’s safety and comfort, and her safety, were most important. She had to focus intensely and keep herself and the animal safe, and they were insensitive to both. She stayed in firm control of the llama AND the guys. I didn’t see this as a feminism thing, or a reason for viewers to take a swipe at their gender. I saw just two professionals trying to do a hard, dangerous job without undue stress or extended time on the llama, and the men yelling was inappropriate. The llama was more important, and he needed to have a good first experience to build on, for everybody’s sake. When things are crucial there’s no time for social niceties.

Man, he is just beautiful. It’s sad to see him afraid, but I know it has to be done. We have recently adopted a baby toy poodle that shys away from every attempt to pick her up. She’s very sweet, and loves to be held and snuggle, but getting a hold on her is always a process. The game is to stop it from being a game. If she grows up, thinking a game of dodge dog is funny, it could be dangerous. The recall, and scoop up might save her life someday, and chasing her around just won’t work. Sorry guys, this is a shearing channel, not a doggy channel, but watching that young man get scared and angry just brought Dolly to mind. Good job girl, he’s gonna be ok now, and he has a new friend.

This goes for anywhere, but as someone from Texas where it gets in the hundreds and even the nights can be unbearably hot, I just can't comprehend how people let their animals get like this. That level of neglect and utter lack of empathy for the animals that depend on them tells me a lot about what kind of people own this guy. Then with the yelling? How do you own a farm and act like this? 😭 Thank you so much for helping this poor fella and making his first shearing a good experience! He's been suffering for so long.
