Thank you sooooo very much for this! I’m a single mom with a 16 year old and can’t afford to pay the money to get her hair braided so I normally do pretty good with keeping her hair up and watching RU-vid videos for the latest styles. I’m an underhand braided and I’ve succeeded in butterfly locs, faux locs and even knotted box braids. I just could not get the knotless braids or feed in together since I braid underhanded. I was in the middle of trying out the knotless braids but all the RU-vid tutorials only showed me over hand and I just couldn’t get it and the braids looked horrible. After telling my baby, I’m sorry I just can’t get it, she started taking the braids down. As she was taking them down I kept looking for underhand videos and came across yours. Long story short I was able to keep going and the braids looked great! Your video was sooo helpful! I did take down the ones I initially did wrong and fixed them but needless to say my daughter is very pleased and looks beautiful and feel very confident. In fact many of her friends ask her who fixed her hair and is now requesting me to braid theirs
👏🏽🙀 Amazing...this is great. I honestly didn't learn that I braided underhand until maybe 4 years ago 😆 I've been trying to master over hand for a while now. It still feels unnatural but the cornrows looks better that way. It's no wonder my cornrows were always slanted when I did underhand ...or is it over?? 🤥🤪 ho empty its all so confusing. Who knew braiding would be so intricate?
The under hand method roots look better than the over hand, but the over hands actual braid looks better 😩 I’m so torn. This would be my first time braiding someone else’s hair and I wanna do my friend justice 🥰
THIS WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL Tutorial I ever seen , the camera positioned, and all Like I been watching Knotless plaits box braids videos but this is far by the best! Truly thank you so much wow.
omg thank you been braiding underhanded for 26 years...I needed this video bc I took a hiatus and came back to everyone wanting these feed in individuals when all I've done was damn near micros. gotta learn get back the game and learn something new, I can see why I was having trouble now thank you
Girl kmsl same here!! Exact same situation and I'm an underhanded braider myself. I actually thought I was the only underhanded braider in the US most everyone that I know here in ATL braid Overhanded. This video just put me back in the game!! She just don't know what she's done for me
I have watched alot Of overhand & underhand videos & I never seen anyone braid overhand like that.. I braid overhand & my braids look like your underhand braids & they come out neat..
This was really helpful. I know how to braid but I learned from this two things: one I naturally braid overhand two I appreciated the explanation of how to braid the hair in. I am not good with adding braiding hair to my own hair. I am going to practice now that I understand how I naturally braid. Thanks!
Your video helped me understand what I’ve been doing wrong all my life of knowing how to braid. I’ve been starting my braid out “underhanded” and then gradually without knowing, I’ve been finishing the braid over handed. Now I know how to be consistent with doing one or the other. OMG !
And I’ve been doing the exact opposite. 😂😂 I start out overhand braiding and then end up underhand. It’s so very weird bc I mainly do my own box braids so it depends on what part of my head I’m at. I just tried to start a braid underhand and immediately caught a cramp 😂😂
Yessssss!! The best video and description of each handed technique. I think you may be the only one to get the difference correct. I’ve watched several videos and the person is doing underhanded for both.
I have been watching tutorials on how to do knotless braids for months and none of them have ever made any sense to me. This is the only one out of 30+ videos that have helped me even the slightest. Thank you sooooooooo much.
Girl you are EVERYTHING!! You hear me lol...I braid underhanded and have been trying to learn the 'Knotless Technique' for I can't tell you for how long. Thank You for this video!!! You just don't know, I can finally do my daughter's hair now :-)
Thank you. I've been braiding since I was five but doesn't mean I can't learn to perfect my craft. Thank you so much for the time you took out to demonstrate. Each one teach one. ❤️
THANK YOU SO MUCH IM LEARNING HOW TO DO MY OWN HAIR AND I TAUGHT MYSELF HOW TO BRAID BY WATCHING MY OLDER SISTER AND SHE DID OVERHAND SO I NATRUALLY DO OVERHAND AND EVERY VIDEO SHOWS UNDERHAND YOU ARE A LIFESAVER
Thank you for this video. Never realized the difference, it explains why my braids were all over the place. One was up the other down and all mixed up. You are greatly appreciated. 🤗
The underhand method is so hard to me, I braid overhand where my braids are so perfect & neat. My mom try sitting me down to teach how to braid underhand it’s just get harder & hard. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
I naturally plait underhand and every other tutorial on how to do knotless braids that I've come across was the overhand method....thank you so much for this video😍😍😍❤
Underhand is SO difficult for me! Raised with the overhand way, but I see the difference and been wanting to learn underhand ever since! I think it's prettier... Neater looking. Anyway, I'll keep trying!❤ Thank you for sharing this
I’m a lefty too and I’ve tried the knotless a million times and could never get it. Now I realize I braid over handed and my knotless don’t come out how I want them to unless I do underhanded.
You really help me like out of ALLLLLL THE VIDEO'S!!!! I thought I was slow at first 😭 but I gave it another try the next day and now I got a whole head on knotlwss braids and it was my first time doing braids on myself I was SHOOK but thank you so much for this video it was honestly a life saver!!! 💖
Omg! This was soooo helpful. I absolutely did not understand what was meant by overhand and underhand in braiding. I braid underhand but when watching other videos the hand movement looked the same, but with this video I see the hand movement is different. With this video not only do I get it I am now able to do both and grip the roots tightly. This is the first video I can actually see what you are doing and believe me I have watched tons. Great video! Thank you so much!
Omg thank you ! When I was little I would go get my hair braided all the time . sometimes when they would braid my hair I would wonder why it seemed like one was going on one direction and the other was going into the other direction
I'm an overhand braider and overhand plater with natural hair but I struggle a lot with doing upstyle and conrows as an overhander.. plz show me tutorial for overhand cornrows and upstyle👏
When I first started out I only knew how to overhand then I learned how to underhand and felt it was neater but I kind of wanna return back to overhand braiding to see what’s making my quality of work go down
Thos video was very useful. I was having such a hard time understanding how to do this because the videos i watched were braiding under hand when i braid over hand. Thank you for making this.
Thank you for clarifying this I was struggling to understand the concept for a while your video helped me so much i naturally braid underhanded but I’m going to start overhanding it looks crisper and tighter but for flowing looks I would use the underhanded method as it’s more softer look and easy flow vibes😊💯❤️✨
I love this video because it exposed to me that I start the video under handed and then finish the braid over handed and that’s why I have to flip it over to go fast smh. And it can look twisted and less neat because of that.
Yes if on myself I realize halfway it twists thanks for this observation. Especially anything in tge back of my head never looks like the front because my perspective changed or something like that. I'll be paying more attention now lolol
Omg I’m a overhanded braided and I was watching different videos and was like I got it until I actually tried to do it and couldn’t. I noticed my hands weren’t positioned like the others. I came across your video and was like omg and I’m overhanded braider . Thank you
ahhh I was looking for a video like this but didn’t know how to word it! I’m naturally overhand but was looking for the underhand look I just didn’t know how to word it I didn’t even know these terms existed LMAO 😭😭thank you ma’am you’re a lifesaver❤️
Overhand is how I learned to braid. I have tried the underhand method, and my braids are always too loose. Thank you for sharing this well explained and easy to follow video. ❤
I braid my own hair underhanded. I recently braided someone else and my brain was like overhand and i was like really struggling feeding in lol it felt sooooo oddd to feed in in the middle 😂😂 thanks for telling me im not crazy
Thank u so much i learned to braid on my own and i taught myself over hand so its been difficult learning how to braid when all the tutorials are underhand
Hey! I just started hair school 3 days ago and I’m struggling with doing both of these i seem to be doing an odd version of the two. Anyway, I just wanted you to know I found your video both helpful and easy to follow along with. Xo
I remembered my other comment on your other video and then I saw this one with the overhand method. Nice to see another yt’er doing it again. It’s still so rare.
I'm a over hand braided I find ot hard to understand braid unless I'm pretending to start a conrow. I found this trying to find the best way to braid a knotless. I want to learn so I can do my daughter hair myself after ever 2 months. Me I will go get it done. Saves me cash for her hair and I can do my hair comfortably and I can design her hair as I want length wise and do whatever decoration I want with the extra cost which I do t mind but I want ro be creative
I naturally braid overhand. I literally taught myself how to do a knotless braids on my own because I couldn’t find a video similar to this. The first braid is the way I braid but I feed in the hair from the bottom of the braid and not the top. It works for me but I’m wondering is it something wrong with this way since I can’t find a video on it.
Lolol I hadn't noticed but on myself it's overhand but if I'm braiding someone else I do underhand but hadn't noticed that my perspective changed how I braid because on myself I'm looking at tge braid from underneath but on someone else I'm looking at the top... so I suppose natural my brain does underhanded but because on myself I'm looking at it differently it's the opposite. My auntie told me I braid underhanded but I never knew what she meant I just thought because sometimes I do things left handed that she meant I braided backwards or something lololol
I braid overhand it's faster for me but I've seen nothing but underhand methods and I just feel it would take me longer underhanded. My friend was confused why I was braiding overhand I had to explain there is no wrong way it's just what I'm use to

Thank you for making this video I had been braiding my own hair for a while however making it hard for myself by raping the hair around my hair to hold it when I watched your video you braid your own hair then add hair in with no struggle awesome thank you thank you so much for showing me this method you literally just saved me a whole 4 to 5 extra hours. It usually would take me a day if I'm not stopping or I would braid most of it an then wake up an finish but that's because I would struggle trying to rap around my hair an the box braid hair to get it to lock but adding it in after braiding my hair genius I love. I don't know how long I've been a stranger to this method but no more struggle for me thanks to you. My sister does hair an never showed me this method SMH. Anyway thank you again an there is a difference I'm overhand braider
