IDW's Wrecker comic of Overlord REALLY showed just how brutal and menacing he was. One of the former Decepticon prisoners gave their lives to protect the Wreckers. When asked why, he explained that Overlord promise the prisoners freedom. Except they were all playing his game under his rules. And after winning the pit fights, Overlord told him he could leave Garrus-9 after fighting him or commit suicide. Said Decepticon then asked the Autobots, "You tell me....what's the difference". In the end, the Decepticon beg the Autobots to mercy kill him after being critically injured in a fight.
I didn´t like that much the American version of Overlord, both in the comics and machima series, there are already to many bloodthirsty villains everywhere and plenty in the Tranformers, I prefer his japanesse origin, there he was a villain but one that trully believe that by conquering hummanity and evolving it with the Devil Z power could create a new peaceful age where violence was finally stop, I don´t know if any tell you, but in the manga Giga and Mega comitted suicide due to their child death at birth, and Overlord was in a matter of fact their son, and they were just trying to create a better world for him and his kind
Despite his causal and joking demeanor overlord in prime wars and comic is one of the nastiest most depraved vile and malevolent character and cybertronian even worse darker and more evil than his hated enemy megatron to point he put most decepticons to shame in term of vileness and depravity
Overlord is a menace! My first introduction to him was the IDW Wreckers comics and it traumatized me 😆. After that I watched Masterforce. I have his TR and Fans Hobby Double Evil figures now. MENACE!!!
I still have Titans Return Overlord figure (with his Titan Master Dreadnaut), alongside Sixshot and Sky Shadow as part of the Phase Sixers unit. The so-called Ambassador of Destruction from the Prime Wars Web cartoon capable of overpowering a Combiner like Menasor and kills him, he spoke in a deep southern accent much like Ironhide. In the Super God Masterforce anime, Overlord's first appearance brutally attacked, pummeled and beaten Ginrai mercilessly and left for dead in the desert. And in the original IDW comics, he became a sadistic and violent prison warden on Garrus-9.
