If they do somehow get enough money to make a third Overlord, here's what I want: >A larger scale in terms of combat and story >A bigger, more expansive dark tower I can actually walk around in and completely customize >LET ME BE EVIL DAMN IT, NO MORE FIGHTING OTHER BAD GUYS >More puzzles that reward strategic and tactical thought and focus less on trial-and-error to find the "right way" to solve them >More beasts besides the minions to control like the mounts except maybe stuff like trolls or flying units >Some sort of follower system for my evil court that lets me develop friendships and form my own evil government to run shit >Make mistresses no longer be tied to aesthetics so I can pick them based on which ones I like >Give the mistresses actual personalities beyond their ethnicity and how slutty they are, then make them slutty >It's 2017 and an M-rated game. Give us real sex scenes or stop teasing them like we're 10 >I want a bigger world with tons of places I can ransack, conquer, enslave, raze, etc.. >I want a dynamic world that changes with time, seasons, my own actions and those of the other realms >Ditch any kind of morality system that affects my powers or appearance; let me be as excessive as I want >More options for how to treat conquered settlements
I do not agree with everything you said. Being all evil wouldn't be good for the story. Just add larger scale battles and a bigger tower, but keep the morality system and the way the first games worked.
Agreed with everything up until "Ditch morality system". I thoroughly enjoyed that in the first Overlord game. Committing more evil deeds and watching my Overlord progressively grow more Evil with spikes and horns, and blood aura's pouring from my feet
Okay I do hope this will lead us to Overlord 3 and that we will be playing the Overlord from the first game again, seeing that was the only Overlord not killed but got stuck in the Infernal Abyss and that Gnarl has the big book of evil, it might have a reference on to get that Overlord back. Also as Gnarl said he had a soft spot for that one.
So... They just killed Overlord from second game offscreen? What the actual fuck?! I was hoping for Father vs Son battle in Overlord 3. With different endings for both of them.
I wouldn't say Gnarl deliberately plans their deaths. He served the first o Delors/wizard faithfully, and then served the new one when he won. Then he sought out the offspring. I think his existence is tied to the mantle of the overlord and he serves whoever wields it. But things happen, and new ones need to be found. But that's just me.
Heres my theory: That mysterious guy at the end is the incarnation of Good while the Overlords and Gnarl have been the incarnations of Evil. Remember back in Overlord 1 how the Old Overlord spoke of Good and Evil as if they are actual entities
Odds are that it's an incarnation of good that has been brought back far too early, hence the plague of goodness spreading throughout the world Without the overlord to balance things out,one side begins to prevail over the other, and that just can't stand
The thing is in the Overlord series, the concepts of good and evil are subjective, those that call themeselves evil are often more good than the ones who are good. I think these two incarnations are just two god like beings who hate each other and constantly fight for control of the world. The Overlord may be the Evil God’s avatar.
Fun fact Fellowship of evil is in it's own continuity and isn't canon to the main overlord series as stated by the people who made the game (The lead writer said so herself but I don't remember her name in all honesty but the quote isn't hard to find) So Overlord 2 is where we left off and FOE is in another timeline and a sequel to an Overlord 2 alternate ending after the final boss
ok you get your diablo rip off out of your system? good now for fuck sake give us a PROPER overlord game FREE OUR TRUE OVERLORD FROM THE ABYSS AND TAKE BACK EVIL!
I played this game, and couldn't bring myself to finish it- and finally watched a walkthrough so I could skip to the only good parts, the dialoge and cut scenes... and having seen all of that (gnarl is still gold good on you ms pratchett) I still find things lacking, because going all the way through, they screwed up the story too. They had a lot of interesting things in this game- the annoying mechanics and gameplay still ruined the experience for me, but there were good concepts. The golden as a force of GOOD corruption (lots of fiction has evil being corruptive and transformative but not good) was a wonderful idea and interesting mechanic, the idea of the Shining justice- like overlord 1 heros that arent, but instead of being fallen heroes they are doing evil behind the scenes for publicity/to keep from being bored is a nice idea- a progression in the writing of enemies for this series, and finaly the ongoing quest to counter that with a great force of evil via the netherheart (dumb name but i will let it slide as a knockoff tower/castle heart or similar relic). Also I liked the idea of the tourist segments- people gawking at things from old overlords thinking they are long gone and they are safe- also a great way to put in shout outs to the previous games. But then they never follow up on any of this. Overlord 1 had the big reveal of the real villian at the end who orchestrated the fall of the heroes, but here we never find out how the shining justice ended up like this, were they always so self serving or did they become like this to stay relevant, The netherheart is never explained- how is it diferent from the towerheart, how did it get split into peices, what will it do when finished, instead sparkle jsut steals it after it is charged with evil saying he wil conver the power for his own use...somehow but after the final fight it is never mentioned.... Finally the Golden is NEVER EXPLAINED!! we know that sparkle is behind it but not how, we see that he eats the cutified slugs but not why that is relevant, he can somehow disguise people and sneak even into the nethworld... HOW!! We hear his followers start to crumble as we counter the golden (is that what the nether heart did? it is never explained) did his power mentaly effect them or are they just becoming less confident as the ultimate weapon against evil that the golden is is countered. The golden boughs are supposed to be the source, never explained... the HE who is coming.. acceptable teasers along with the glowing guy at the end but come on! The story and dialogue were the only good part of the game and they just left so many things dangling, they could even have jsut had a few rants during the last boss fight like in overlord1, jsut a few off hand comments to tie thes things up, sparkle rants about his paladins and why they do what they do, off hand comments on the netherheart's powers and what he was going to do with it, any thing about the golden and its origins... Maybe braging about his power? The boss fight are so long and tedious (like all combat in this game) that between them we could have each of the vilians give us their life histories as we slog through waves of paladins and new health bar after new healthbar (why do you just give them a new healthbar instead of have several to begin with, it doesn't hide how long it take to beat them just making it more annoying when you knock their healt all the way down and then thy jsut get up and add one new move to the slog) Over all this game feels like they wanted to keep people interested in the series and cash in, but for some reason didn't put the effort to make it a good game, which would be reasonable for a side product to the main series execpt they built it up so much and made it so long. I only hope that they learn from the things they tried here and all the comments and complaints, because if the next game (please may there be a next game) is too much like this i won't buy it, and at the very least I will wait and hear about the next game befor just trusting them, becaus that is what this game did, it lost the company my trust that when the name Overlord is on a game that it would be good. And that is sad becase the others are my favorite games, and I fear that there will never be anothe like them now
The realist in me is saying "They needed to make a quick buck" The fanboy in me is saying "They're setting up for overlord 3. Yeah they robbed us blind but if overlord 3 is made with the money they stole from us and it's meant to be played like the others, won't it be worth it? This game was shit. This game, isn't overlord. It's diablo under the guise of overlord.
why do i have a feeling thats the paladins and velvets son? remember in overlord 1 they were together a lot maybe when the overlord took rose velvet wanted revenge and she had her son with her. i mean we did see rose in overlord 2 maybe velvet is alive too and her son is that guy in the end i mean in this game there are a lot of paladins... he wanted that book to be found so they could bring back the first overlord so he could kill him for leaving his mother and for killing his father.
