Solo wild camp in the forest with a DD Tarp and Hammock - Cooking Sausages and Potatoes with Home Grown Parsley and Fresh Beans - Collecting and Filtering water, a cheeky can of cider and a spot of overnight rain.
Wow, it's so thrilling to watch you chill and looking at the blue skies as the cooking is going on Nice experience you had indeed and thanks for sharing it with us
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it. Nothing better than enjoying the peace and quiet of a woodland while cooking some delicious food. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Elliott.
That’s a beast of a pack, Elliot! Loved the way you tied your slip knot on the ridgeline. I’m having that 😉👍🏼 It’s lovely you have a water source nearby. Not too many in my neck of the woods ☹️ A smart looking cook up there for tea 🍽 I cannot wait to get out in my hammock again. Definitely the best way for me to get some shut eye in the woods! Them fried eggs look nice. Lovely orangey yolks - free range?
Hi Tim, thanks for watching mate. Won't take the credit for the ridgeline knot as I got that off someone on YT, probably Des Cattys. I was relieved to find the stream in that forest still flowing after all this dry weather, but it's not generally too hard finding water down here in the west country. This was my second hammock camp and I am a convert, even using a mat inside instead of an underblanket. Its the best way to camp. Yes the eggs are free range and they always have lovely yellow yokes. Take care my friend, Elliott.
@@beaconbushcraftoutdoors5834 I do like a free range egg. Especially from the folks who sell the eggs to my teacher daughters school. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was learnt from Des. He is a font of knowledge ! I’m glad you are liking the hammock camps. It’s nice to be able to mix it up. I am envious of your water sources over there. So nice to not have to lug copious amounts of water in each time. Have a good weekend 😉👍🏼
Great video! Good suspension system, always good to have extra length with your straps, those bigger trees use heaps! I use Whoopie slings and tree huggers. The straps that come with the camping hammock are a pain in the arse I recon. I was wondering, could you replace those ridiculous straps with your carabiners? Keep up the great videos. 🇦🇺
Thank you, really appreciate it. You're right about the straps that come with the hammock and now I have my new system, I may just cut them right down and just have a small loop for the carabiner, but will use it in a few more situations before I do that. I currently just leave the carabiner attached anyway. Thanks for watching, Cheers, Elliott.
Thanks for sharing this very nice video with us. Just found your channel last night. One question, though: How did you carry the eggs without breaking them?
Thank you, glad you liked it. Good question about the eggs, I just cut two sections out of a cardboard egg box and put them in that which went in to plastic box which also had the tomatoes in it. You can actually get little plastic egg containers for camping, should probably get one of them 😂 Thanks for watching, Cheers, Elliott.
Thanks for replying. Good solution. Those plastic containers apparently do not protect the eggs well. I will try your method though. I was thinking about using dry wheat/ barley straw like the old days. They never fail.
No problem. Yes I've heard those egg holders aren't great, one of the reasons I don't use them but straw is a really good idea, so thanks for that. Will give it a go. Thanks for watching, Elliott.
