Hi! This is a very good comment! This is true. Partly because I quilt with headphones on😄. Also I do not use stich regulator as it changes the speed of my machine depending how I move the fabric. I prefer the steady work without the regulator. Once you have it, the quilting is much smoother❤❤❤
😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩beautiful quilting. I’m so fascinated by your designs, they never disappoint. The fabrics in your churn block are beautiful but that quilting makes this block a true piece of art. Thank you for this awesome video, your quilting is so inspiring and helpful. I have enjoyed watching your RU-vid channel grow in the number of subscriber. You are successful because you are sincere in wanting us to learn from you. Your slow videos are the best. Thank you and have a beautiful day 🌹🌞🤩😍❤️🌻
I needed a moment, feeling touched.... wow. Thank you for those wonderful, generous words! I love quilting and it is so good to know that you notice it too. You have no idea what your comments mean to me. You tell me that my videos are inspiring but so is your feedback. ❤❤❤❤❤. I love ombre fabrics. they add extra depth and variation to quilting. I am very curiois how the whole quilt will turn out. For now I must cut some blocks more. Thank you again and have a wonderful day... Gosia
I've made SO many Churn Dash blocks! It was the first quilt I ever made back in the 80's, a churn dash for my older son. In fact, have you ever heard of the Tennessee Waltz quilt? If not, it has alternating blocks of the 54-40 or Fight! block and Snowball block, but I changed the Snowball block for a Churn Dash on the second one I made and it came out so nice! It makes a secondary pattern that looks like big circles I've made two, one a twin and one a queen size, but hand quilted both of them (years ago). I loved the idea of a ghost block, turned out beautifully. At the moment, I'm putting a pieced border on a couch quilt I'm making for a new couch we ordered. It's a huge Morning Star block (though several seem to be called by that name) that measures about 42" square. I hope I am happy with the quilting on it when I'm done! I've always loved using giant blocks as the only block for a lap quilt or something smaller. The fabrics in this quilt are lovely, one of my favorite colors. ~Cynthia
Hi Cynthia, This is my first Churn dash block. I have made some quilts but not this particular block. As it has 9 patch grid and HST at the corner, you are rigt, the possibilities for secondary patterns are endless. And I love hand quilting. It takes me forever (about 1.5 quilt per year) but it looks so incredible. Especiyll with a sashiko thread. I am sure you will love your new quilt! I love my very first one and the quilting was, let's say, far away from my normal quilting standard😄. And I love large blocks. Some time ago I finished a large quilt with eight large blocks and tons of negative space....Quilting was so much fun.❤❤❤❤❤
@@quiltingnerd Negative space used to scare me! Now, it makes me itch to get busy quilting it, especially after watching so many of your videos and encouraging me to improve. I want to be better! I remember the hand quilting on my first quilt, yikes! Now, I consider myself a master hand quilter, but I rarely ever do it now because of tingling/numb fingers when I do fine work. As a machine quilter, I consider myself a self-taught fumbler, LOL. I used to have machine phobia. We bought a basic old machine when we were active duty military and I was too scared to use it. My husband used it to sew stripes on his new uniforms. I also adore huge blocks! There used to be a quilt magazine I'd buy when we all still bought magazines called Big Block Quilts and I got one every month. Blessings, my friend.
@@rootsrocksfeathers1975 I can only say, as long as we dare to try new things we will not get old, just older, cuter and wiser 😁. Have fun.... and negative space quilting is so much fun....just be carfeul, it is addictive
@@quiltingnerd Hi there.. thank you. It is only honest opinion.. Glad to say that i finished two baby quilts.. i am so proud of it.. wanted to send you picture.. but sad to say.. i dropped my phone.. so it must go in for repairs... have a love day, and thank you for all you do 🥰
Just lovely. So relaxing to watch. I will be trying free motion in August after moving to my new home. THANKS. Your friend from New Mexico, Carla 🎶 💖 💐
Congratulations on the move to a new place.... I wish you many happy and joyful moments there. Just imaging, all the new inspirations for new quilts. Have fun and let me know how it is going. And thank you for your comment!❤❤❤❤
@@shereeblack5706 Hi there, thank you for your comment! And you just say that because you never heard me talk 😁. Actually I have some videos when I talk, but I am not sure I have the voice for it. ❤❤❤❤❤
Was going to ask the question, how long have you been quilting, but I saw your response to someone else. Was wondering how long it took you to reach this level of expertise. So amazing! I want to be a Quilty Nerd like you when I grow up! And I'm already 68! 😆 I've taken the first step ... I got a longarm 3 months ago after doing a few small quilts on my domestic. Now I'm at the beginning of my journey. 😊
Your body and knowledge reached level 68. Your soul and mind are about 35 😁. It took me one large quilt to get decent. After that 4 months to be OK,This was enough to lose fear of quilting and accept my quilting as good, if that makes sense. After that I just quilted and it got continously better. I would say I was quite good two or three yeras ago, but when I compare my first YT video to the last again I see progress....So I quilt 6 years now but not continously as a work full time. ❤❤❤
Thank you! More than six years. I was traying already before that but about six years ago my husband organized a place for me where I could just sew.... After several months I was already accpetable ;)❤❤❤
