@@crodzilla3432 Actually, it's not. The exceptions to free speech in the US are extremely limited (i.e., yelling "FIRE" in a theater, pornography, inciting violence). A corollary is that while you have the right to speak, you don't have the right to be listened to. People are free to rely on their internal BS meter supported by their own common sense, experience and learning. Silencing opposing viewpoints is the province of dictators and has no place here.
@@rickprice6312 I proposed that it is abusing free speech. It is like having children and mistreating them. Not saying don’t have children. Make sense?
Yet Ted and most conservatives who claim they are pro free speech, are advocating for banning any mention, reference, depiction, acknowledgement of gays in public and media. Yea, anyone who can't see through this bs is brainwashed
He always has, Trevor did it a bit in the early days of tds, but it didn't last long. The whole point of a debate is to have as many people with different views, if you only have people who agree with you on everything, wtf is the point
Shout out to Bill for allowing multiple view points on his show. Everyone must be open to ideas they don’t typically support if we hope to heal as a nation.
"Shout out to Bill for allowing multiple view points on his show." Agreed. But there has to be certain exceptions; scum like Cancun Cruz is one of them. The 1 or 2 'intelligent' things that accidently come out of Cruz's 'pie hole' over the course of a year do not make up for all the evil that teddie (and his like, eh donnie ?) says and does on a daily basis; teddie and his like must be deprived of a 'soapbox' at every opportunity. Free Speech is not infinite and without restrictions ! When it is regarded as such the result is the chaos that America is currently going thru ! Teddie and his like are main drivers behind America's current implosion. Sad.
@@sandyhossman7771 He's not the one. If the Republicans, are such religious people why are they not listening to God's word. So Bill can't heal this nation. Healing begins in the heart. Nice try ♥
Bills attitude in this is actually refreshing, he IS acknowledging what Ted is saying and KINDA on purpose not arguing because he just might agree. But, he can't just gush over what he is saying because it's Ted Cruz. Oh wow, I just realized they could both go to the border and it could be called Bill and Ted's excellent border adventure, haha.
Actually witnessesing a crisis in person isn’t Bill’s style. It’s flying on Private Jets to Five Star restaurants and resorts all while making fun of people complaining that their lives are being ruined by policies he endorses……..
I agree. Partnering with CNN has hampered its free-flow format. On rare occasions, Mr. Maher's professional schedule has interfered with the discussion. Last week, overtime ended abruptly at 7:56 because Mr. Maher had to get to Vegas for a stand-up engagement. Two weeks ago, CNN did not air the discussion, so it lasted 17:06.
Yes was just going to post that. If you're going to navigate to "mainstream" TV i.e. CNN, then you need to make the debate longer. Thought the initial interview with Cruz could have been much longer too.
@@billnelson3405 Peterson? Sure. Don't know much about Pamela to say. Cruz? Lol😆😂 gtfoh unless you're from Texas then you'll realize why majority of us hate him even his own base.
*American* for actually talking to the 'side' (whatever the f*ck that means) he disagrees with and actually letting them talk. [which is actually the norm for having a conversation.] bro, establishment parties and their supporters are weird and un-American as f*ck.
We need more of this. Put people with opposing political views, and smart people, in one room and let them talk, exchange ideas. Great things happen that way.
As a Scandinavian I don't think it's "happiness" they're measuring, it's more "lack-of-misery" or maybe just gratitude. We don't have to worry about going bankrupt if we get sick, we're not going to end up homeless if we get laid off because we have a welfare safety net etc. I think it comes down to us having less stress.
Americans also don't have to worry about being homeless if they get laid off. They are automatically eligible for unemployment benefits, and depending on their financial situation, a number of other social programs (food stamps, rent support etc.).
@@carloscabrera7073 Ok. Please point me to these thousands of employed people who live in their cars. Besides, what does that have to do with being laid off? Majority of so called homeless people in USA are mentally sick, or drug addicts, or both. I live in one of the biggest cities in I see them every day, in person, not on the internet.
@ts73 Los Angeles, California. They even did news reports about it. Also, laid-off people lose their homes all the time. Not every job qualifies for assistance. What color is the sky were YOU live?
This is what I missed seeing on National TV - people from different spectrums of belief and having conversations and even having respectful debate. It’s sad that we no longer see this type of round table discussion anymore 😢
I miss watching TV when everything wasn't politically charged/biased. NEWS actually reported just the facts and let people form their own individual opinions instead of telling people what to think and how to feel.
I give Bill credit for allowing people with a different view point on his show. Wish more people would talk with people who have a different view point.
The problem with this show and having different viewpoints is there is simply not enough time to hash out each of the topics raised by Bill in such short amount of time. Each of those topics could have been a great 15-30 min conversation
I love when culpable people complain about Hollywood formatting being garbage. Especially after optionally viewing and posting a comment that gains 30+ likes, further aiding the algorithm’s reach. MAX isn’t reading your critique, so stop bitching about the content you’re propagating by counting as only 1 view, or scroll past it entirely if you want it to end.
Jordan destroys her with research and facts, and she responds with zingers that fall way short of an actual argument to counter Jordan. Difference between a real educated person that wants what is best for people by trying to help them because they want to address the problems and symptoms by finding a treatment that works, and a NY Times political-partisan propagandist, who is just about getting their way period and creating more hate and divide.
Jordan Peterson is SOOO gracious and patient... even after getting cut off and unable to finish his point, he is still actively stays engaged in the rest of the conversation.
Peterson's problem in this kind of setting is that he tends to pause while he is thinking to make sure he uses the words he wants to use. Any pause and you are cut off.
As a Texan trust me the Republicans say secure the border and give a wink and a nod to the employers along with a campaign donation. Everyone' here knows it. Especially Ted.
Growing up in Houston in the 80's there were as many illegal citizens as legal ones. The city was going through a boom and it was built on the backs of illegal labor.
Trump had undocumented employees at his resorts, Hotels, casino's no one said a peep. Republicans donors want cheap labor with no taxation tied to them. Migrants come every spring and every Fall at harvest, and cons know that yet exploit those workers to all kinds of threats they invent to stoke fear

Maher is missing an opportunity here. He should take Sen Cruz's offer to see the border firsthand because that takes courage. A display of courage is what we need far more than talking or even writing.
Yeah but what was that weird side comment about "Age appropriateness' he made? The audience just laughed of course, like trained seals. Go back and view that bit - very creepy.
@@arresthillary9502 Cruz imitating a schnauzer puppy, friendly harmless (and furry) is in keeping with his usual normalizing of MAGA and it’s leader. What it amounted to was a long political campaign speech - still no balls Ted? Peterson uses that trick where he avoids the issue by immediately changing the subject to what he wants to rail about. Women’s health autonomy jumped to “ sexual revolution “ in a nanosecond, so much for freedom-Both are hucksters
If Bill Maher had a sliver of journalistic fiber, he definitely would take Ted Cruz's offer to see for himself what is going on at the border. His lack of research on any topic he likes to question make him lazy, a phony, and not funny.
@@ubon11 Cruz just lies. $100 billion? No. It was $6 billion of Iran's money held in American banks and the money was never transferred to Iran. So, no money ever when to Iran from Biden.
Right. This was too short. Something Bill said at the end I would have liked to have answered. About God talking to us. We know that "His spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." It's spiritual, not mere thoughts in our head. Though I do believe a lot of people make up God's words. So, it could have continued like that. I believe Ted is a Christian, he might have offered this point.
I have a new appreciation for Ted Cruz. I then went on to see him in the Senate, and this guy makes sense, at least as far as it can for me. He's not a Kennedy, but he's the next best thing. Honestly, and this is coming from a lefty.

I used to look forward to Friday's for the show, after this week's show ,I'm done. After he had Bill barr on I gave him a second chance, no more. Bye bye bill maher.
Again, Bill hasn't changed in 30 years. The goal posts moved! Bill nailed it in the beginning and Kudos to him for recognizing that!! And for not changing.
I’m honestly thrilled to see more of a mixing of conservative and liberal voices have a reasoned discussion. Yes Bill typically dominates the flow of topics but it IS his show I suppose. Keep it up
Let me clarify, my enjoyment is in seeing a lack of echo-chamber debate. Not saying I agree with all being said by any means, simply the willingness on the various parties to have the discussion in the first place. Low bar perhaps, though it seems that’s a win based on discussions I have with friends in the States. The aspects of this show I enjoy are that I’m presented with differing opinions on a given subject, whereby I then research more if I’m inclined to do so and make up my own mind. I enjoy Peterson for example but by no means agree with all of his takes.
I'm not knocking on his suit. It just was really funny when/if you watched the episode last night where Bill was mentioning Hilary's purple pant suit while Ted Cruz was wearing purple. And then the panel comes to light and Jordan was wearing the people I couldn't help but laugh for a minute lol

Well, I'm quite impressed with you Bill as a right on the fence. Libertarian Canadian who lives in Mexico. We don't see this very often. A group of diverse minds in one room sharing ideas. Nice work. Nice work
Jordan Peterson is just so formidable in these settings. Articulate, well-read, nearly all pure scientific data with very little personal opinions or personal attacks. Just really hard to argue with lol. Always a delight to see
Agreed. He always seems like the only one who has a grasp on any of the data. When he talks about “relative difference”, “across groups”, “wide individual variance”, these people just stare blankly.
This is great TV good job Bill! I love your podcast, but I typically don't like the MSM talk shows. Having Ted and Jordan on at the same time is so refreshing!
I love that Bill Maher brought people he probably hardly disagrees with on his show. This kind of dialogue will keep America sane. Keep the sides talking…
Yeah, even as a proud Scandinavian I am constantly puzzled by surveys that claim that we're the happiest people in the world. It's like, dude... have you ever MET a Swede? If one of us isn't acting slightly depressed all the time, we think that there must be something wrong with him! 😛
It's not like the good ol' days when a pent up Viking could go warring and raiding, or fight the gods to burn off malaise. Shopping on the internet just doesn't cut it.
I've lived in Stockholm and I do believe the statistics. Swedes may act slightly depressed, but its because they are more direct and honest about everything and certainly about their emotions. Americans will give you theatre but meanwhile they are exploding inside. One thing about scandinivian countries is if you ask people how they are doing, they will actually tell you how they are doing. That is a concept that is alien to Americans. Furthermore life in western europe is just way more relaxed. None of the rat race culture, decent affordable healthcare for everyone, laid back lifestyle with plenty of free days and a work to live instead of love to work attitude.
I really appreciate what Bill brings to the world, conversations with people who you disagree with. Jordan Peterson said a while back the world needs both conservatives and liberals, and we need to keep talking.
There is now a BIG difference between 'conservatives' and 'Republicans'. You can discuss things with a conservative, and they generally abide by the law and respect people's rights, the Constitution, and democracy. Republicans do not.
I watched Bill Weekly for years. Great mind, excellent show. Had to shut it down and tune out social media for a year for RL. Now I’m back and this was the first one I’ve watched since. If you asked me who would never be on the show sitting next to Bill, and it would be a bet of a million bucks, I’d say never Texas Cruz. Now I’m honestly dumbfounded on how this even became possible. I’m honestly shocked, speechless. How could this have even happened. Did the CNN take over somehow take away bills power to make decisions as to who shows up? Was this strategic? Was it because he’s running for president and 1st amendment rights were tossed around quietly. Can someone from CNN respond. I would like to know if possible.
I hope everyone noticed how JP spoke to facts and scientific studies regarding loneliness, depression ( negative emotions ) being higher in women and lo and behold , the only female on the panel gets her panties in a knot...the irony
"What goes on in your mind, I mean, this is the problem with people saying, y'know, 'God talked to me.' He didn't. You talked to him. He didn't answer. Those are called thoughts."
THIS is a great post!!! Seeing Conservatives and liberals have a conversation, not a fight, but a conversation and a laugh is refreshing!! Oh, and Ted Cruz is my guy I'm from Texas!
I would hate to be on the other side of Jordan Peterson in a debate. Not because I don't enjoy a good debate, but because he's so damn articulate and educated on subjects in his field. That and there's no rage, it's simply cutthroat facts with confidence.
Holy shit your comment made me spit out my coffee! Watch Jordan Peterson vs Matt Dillahunty! Matt destroy's him! Jordan Peterson is the intellectual for morons. Everyone else knows he is just a conman.
Check out JP's debate with Matt Dillahunty on religion and god. JP is usually very good at debates and I'm a fan but Matt wiped the floor with JP in that one because JP didnt want to provide a clear answer.
Yes-imagine how much more productive our conversations and disagreements would be today if more people brought facts to the table instead of breathless emotion, assumptions, defensive tribalism and ultimately name-calling. (Remember how the mainstream media used to operate?)
It shows he lives by the principles he teaches. Be a monster, but man enough not to act on it. To strengthen one’s speaking in order to further strengthen one’s thought and vice versa. I love seeing Jordan in mixed company. He listens so intently and speaks so eloquently

Anyway, here is what I would say, if you are willing to forgive my tresspass. When one exptesses, in words, stated aloud or in the mind, something that an ostensibly all knowing and all loving God can hear and understand, then it must be honest and heart felt, because logically one cannot lie to God. It forces you to speak the truth, which is better than talk therapy with a psyxhiatrist, because of course you will hide some things, and also when you talk to God you know it will be kept in confidence. John Denver has some line sbout this in Rocky Mt High but I cannot recall it right now. Again, apologies for my own childishness.
I didn't see any intelligent conversation from Ted Cruz, just a string of nonstop lies and false accusations that have already been debunked that he continues to tell. There was no honest discourse from him.
Intelligent? Nothing intelligent about talking points. Nobody is answering questions or showing the slightest ability to recognize nuance. Rather they're all just rehashing their garbage ass talking points and Bill speaks way too much while knowing absolutely nothing about the actual world most people have to live in

More often than not it cuts away some of the bulsht and maybe there is more truth being spoken, right? Cruz did go into Politicain mode a couple times but for most part came off like a normal guy. Almost.
I agree , that’s the way it used to be… but now the sky is the limit with insults and open hateful remarks … hate to say it, but Trump introduced that into our national discourse, and instead of shunning it, a lot of people ran with it… surprising that that’s what a lot of people feel like underneath. Just when we thought we were civilized, kind and evolved
Yeah, like DiSantis did, Cruz tried to be funny and failed miserably by blowing his 'joke' that he probably practiced all week in front of a mirror. Sad.
Hey, how about asking Cruz why the Chinese are allowed to buy American farmland as well as land in watersheds, and isn't it strange that they are most interested in areas close to strategic military facilities? This really seems more important than anything else. How about putting this to the American people in some kind of ballot initiative?

If you don't write down your thoughts and look at and examine what you've written, how do you really know what you believe? It sounds weird at first. But when you start examining what you've written and begin editing, you start self correcting and getting closer to what you actually believe. Writing is an excellent way to determine what your real beliefs are.
Couldn't agree more. Writing directly engages yourself in critical thinking and helps you truly discover your own identity and you also find things about yourself that you wouldn't have if you hadn't kept a daily journal or wrote your thoughts down. Helped me immensely to understand my own stances on issues and what's truly important in my life. People need to write everyday.
Its nothing to do with belief. Its more to do with choosing the right words and grammar, so others can understand what your view is. Your thoughts are your beliefs,You just have to write then down in a way that does not seem like a ramble. To think writing something down, changes your belief, is just insane psycho babble.
