Overview of Fast & Frugal AutoML : FLAML

Talk Description: AutoML is an evolving subfield of Machine Learning where the focus is on helping the data scientist or data practitioner get to machine learning models quickly and to simplify some of the arduous aspects of experimentation. AutoML is currently being looked at within the industry to make experimentations easier for data scientists, for enabling citizen data science or to embed ML components into software applications seamlessly. In this session, Ann will provide an in-depth view on Automated Machine Learning & Tuning with the AutoML framework from Microsoft called FLAML. As an introduction, Ann will provide an overview of the AutoML problem and the FLAML library. Then she will demonstrate how to make the best use of FLAML to perform automated machine learning and hyperparameter tuning. Lastly, Ann will provide intuition into algorithms underpinning FLAML.
Speaker Bio: Ann Sebastian currently works as DataScience Manager at Wesfarmers OneDigital where she leads a team of data scientists and data analysts to build data products that use predictive modelling and advanced analytics techniques. She has worked on a range of machine learning problems across retail and finance domains such as graph analytics, classification problems, unsupervised learning techniques to understand customer behaviour, regression analysis on identifying factors to improve customer experience over the last 8 years. Prior to that, she was a data ninja and has worked in data visualisation, data engineering, data modelling and software engineering.
