This session gives an overview of the physics systems and workflows powering our Data-Oriented Technology Stack (DOTS). Viewers will gain insight into design considerations underlying Unity Physics, how its use cases differ from those of Havok Physics, and how both offerings express concepts familiar to users of our classic GameObject-based physics. This session covers content authoring workflows for DOTS physics, as well as the basics of the DOTS physics architecture and game code layer in order to help you achieve the best performance in your DOTS-based projects.

Wow, this is a breakthrough. A more advanced physics engine, I'm glad to see this partnership with Microsoft. I've played some games that use this physics engine, and it's really satisfying

I like what I see. Are you going to add the Unity navMesh system or a DOTS version of it in DOTS? Sorry if that question was off topic

But can we get a UPhysics vs Havok vs PhysX performance comparison?
@CynicatPro
@CynicatPro 4 года назад
It's not super trivial to compare UPhysics and the other two because UPhysics is stateless (meaning it doesn't go to sleep for example). For very dynamic scenes where everything is moving i'd expect it to be faster than PhysX, for scenes with lots of rest objects PhysX would probably be faster. From my own experiments Havok is faster than both pretty much always, generally by a lot. Havok is also much more stable than physX, especially when it comes to joints as is UPhysics. I haven't seen a good set of formal benchmarks but that's been my experience so far.

On your future roadmap, Convex Decomp is a great tool, and the ability to ignore initial penetrations is extremely useful. I do think the lower quality "FX bodies" would be great, but the killer app would of course be Havok Destruction in Unity. Are you able to author constraints (maybe between objects!?) in Unity, or is constraint setup only in external DCCs?

They're working on joint authoring components, there are some basic versions in the ECS examples repo on github that are pretty good for now.

Looks like they had to remove the part where they showed MotorStorm Apocalypse's physics data, not sure why. =/

Did I read correctly? Havok is free for personal and plus but not free for pro ? Doesnt really make sense does it ?

So is Havok Physics a free core-Unity addon, or is it freemium?

You will need a paid license if you are using pro. Otherwise it will be free

guys is anyone have a solution i have 2gb ram and after i opened unity the ram become full so i can't turn on any program to coding do you have solution like a unity lite edition or low usage coding program
@xSeonerx
@xSeonerx 4 года назад
Monodevelop, Visual Studio Code. 2 gb of ram is really not enough if u want to run smoothly unity editor and some featured IDE (program to code). If u have SSD tho u could increase virtual ram (its easy to set up in win 10) but still it won't do much if you have weak CPU. Just buy some ram instead, for programming 8 gb is like minimum for reasonable experience, or atleast 4gb + ssd for small projects.

are you running on windows Xp or something? 2GB RAM is the least to run windows 7 if im not mistaken.

based on this presentation, unity physics is useless, but is not. is like you want to make unity physics look bad to push in Havok
