When you slice with Genji's blade the very last second the slash doesn't get interrupted by the animation of him putting the blade away. Instead he finishes the slash and then puts away the blade.
@@yun-jinlee3782 ok and? They were pointing out a fun fact. They're not trying to say it's stronger than her melee....she can literally melee constantly. Are you like a defensive brig/zen main? lol relax
Doom's block feels so odd. It doesn't feel like it should be a channeled ability, but it's just like deflect, accretion, javelin spin, etc. It just feels different. EDIT: they literally added a superior version of doomfists block on rammatra??? So they knew how to make a block move feel good but gave doom the crappy one
I didnt realize they buffed Baptiste so much. That's crazy, considering he was already strong and most other supports didnt get much of a change and mostly got small nerfs...
true but Bap was gonna be inherently much less useful in 5v5 as there’s less AOE healing needed, so in my opinion, he needed some buffs to be balanced. but i’m biased lol
Haven't played Overwatch in awhile. You already know KarQ was the first name I thought of when looking for the differences between OW1 and OW2. This man's been putting out good educational content for ages.
@@josewolf9884 Because they want as minimal CC as possible. Same reason why they removed Moiras new Ability. I think they just need time to fit him properly into the game
I agree about it being iconic, but people were also using it to harrass and flame others. "Gold border in gold/plat?! You suck!" Etc. There should have been an option to turn off, like career profiles. Not that I was a big fan of private profiles, but I can see the intent. Hmm, maybe keep the portrait border, but only you can see it?
@@GateFail See, that I hated so much. I actually used to play so chill so I hated hearing people trying to insult me with being silver border in gold. I was in gold because I don't have to work so hard. I only went into comp for golden weapons and conversation anyway. I wanna have fun playing, not feel like I'm forced to play. I do miss the borders but I don't think I'm gonna miss people that think level says everything.
They really gutted Doomfist's kit entirely. They changed him from a good aggressive DPS to the worst tank in the game, especially now that the game is balanced around solo tanks. On paper, it looked good, but in practice its just so bad. With the focus on him being a main tank, his abilities disposition him anyways so you can't properly shield your teammates, but you can't properly knockback or deal damage without putting the rest of the team at risk. At least Roadhog as a main tank is slightly better because he can hook from his position to give the rest of the team some good picks. I really hope they revert him, they turned one of the most fun heroes into a disaster of a tank. How embarrassing.
I literally didnt even click on this video and it somehow opened on stream, idk what youtube magic you are pulling, but if you could teach me that would be great. Also great video (I didnt watch it but his stuff is always top tier PepeLaugh)
@@b33lze6u6 It's not meant to do damage its meant to push the enemy away with a little bit of damage and a huge knock back. He becomes lethal when he's fully charged.
@@mistameff3528 not really he only does 100 damage fully charged, and thats if they hit a wall. thats assuming he even gets the charge and doesnt have to immediately waste the charge to get out/reposition. what people ended up doing in the last beta was ignoring him since that would mean he never gets charge and his base damage is so low hes basically irrelevant
@@b33lze6u6 Bro his punch is not meant to kill people. Also if they are stunned you can simply just run up and shoot them 2-3 times in the head. Doom just takes much more aim now, which is far better than getting killed by a stupid E and Shift. OWL dooms are top damage when they play you know that right?
Im so happy OW1 sucked at the end. Every match i had was a 5v6 bc matchmaking couldn’t find another teammate while the match was active and then the enemy team say “glhf” and its like ye fkn right its a 5v6. At least 4v5 won’t be as unfair especially since there is only 1 tank. OW2 FTW
I’m an orisa main and I think it’ll be kinda fun with the new mechanics but imma also miss the the old orisa. The shield and ult were so good for the whole team. Plus it’ll take a while for my muscle memory to stop full shooting
20:08 - On the Mercy Guardian Angel changes. Blizzard and KarQ basically say the same thing about the change, that it makes GA and superjump "easier and more consistent" now, but what isn't touched on or I guess people forget to mention is that it's now weaker overall if you could previously consistently pull off superjump prior to OW2. Now superjump requires a significant build up to achieve the same height that you could get in OW1. Whereas before if you timed it correctly, you could get a massive vertical lift at good speed, the same verticality takes significant horizontal travel distance to build up your meter. This means you not only can't superjump as high or as on-demand as you did in OW1 but also that you need a lot of runway space and 'running start', so to speak. Overall, if you could already do superjumps in OW1, this is a nerf for Mercy. But that's not brought up for some reason. 🤨
You're so right, "it's more consistent and easier to new players" is nonsense. It's a huge nerf. If they wanted to make it consistent they could've kept previous way of performing superjump and implement new, but now instead of constantly moving mercy that is impossible to hit I have mercy that can jump away from teammates to go to spawn to change character faster
Yep. The whole reason I played mercy was for that super jump. I hate what they did to her. Not to mention, their version of super jumping is just somehow jumping either away from your teammates or jumping right into the fight. It’s awful.
@@Jarg-d6l yeah. even design-wise, i guess they decided she didnt feel african enough that they gave her a spear like some savannah hunter and dreadlock-like hair. And got rid of her awesome shield and ability to yank enemies out of cover too. really the only change I do like is the gun itself.
@@Jarg-d6l nah. Think she was just better off before with just the antilope theme and armor patterns instead of that tripling down on it. And its no secret overwatch pushes hard on "muh diversity", and it really feels Orisa was redesigned this way JUST for that sole purpose
As a former Zarya main I H A T E the bubble changes. Really felt like a nerf because they recharge with the same counter, so if you play the same as OW1 you have 1 bubble at a time instead of 1 personal and 1 team bubble.
Word it feels so mid. It's nice being able to bubble yourself twice if your team isn't really taking too much damage or you don't have a dive or something. Still feels tragic having to wait a forever for both bubbles though
I mean I kinda feel you. I'm a Dva main and they took away every form of CC that helps me land ults. Never again can I launch a bomb into a Zarya, Sigma or Rein ult. Not to mention Sombra can't EMP sheilds away for me anymore.
I feel like initially they did give her the freeze to make it look less like TF2 pyro. But now that they took out a good portion of the status effect and switched to raw damage, it does kinda just be flamethrower
The removal of Mei's freeze is actually crazy when you think about it. It was a core part of her kit and concept. It was the thing her character was built around from the very beginning as a concept drawing. It's like taking away Widowmaker's ability to snipe, or Tracer's ability to blink and instead she just runs 50% faster for a second. The new anti-CC direction of OW2 is certainly something, but when we talk about the victims and what's left on the cutting room floor, Mei has definitely got to be the worst of them all by far. I still remember the Pyro comparison jokes back in 2016 and now it just feels unavoidable.
100%, instead of the devs putting in the work to formulate new CC counters like in Dota, League, Smite, etc, they'd rather take out as much cc altogether ruining a lot of the characters. Ice character that can no longer freeze anyone lmao. should retire her or kill her off bliz.
I don't really care if it's "always been like that" tbh they remove abilities that prevent people from playing the game and I'm cool with that lol. I guess a middle ground would be to not only slow their movement speed but also fire rate and mouse sensitivity? Still, I'm looking forward
Ngl even tho Mei got nerfed a lot I still have a lot of fun with her. Even tho she doesn't freeze the move speed decrease is still pretty beneficial, ppl don't know how to deal with it. But I don't see the point in kiriko having cleanse if there's hardly anyone out there who's being stunned or frozen.
@@kylerqaz22 IDK it feels like they made her more boring to play. As someone who hasn't played OW for years a lot of the changes seem like overcorrection just to "nuke" the old meta instead of cohesive new vision.
Thank you for this video! I'm a returning OW player. Haven't played for 2 years now, and this visual rundown and comparison changes were just what I was looking for. Glad to be following you again, KarQ! (Also, it was fun seeing familiar names in your example clips like Fitzy and Flats... and Seagull? What?)
Now I can’t wait for the “1 hero vs all other hero’s” videos coming out for every hero a THIRD time, but a FIRST time in Overwatch 2 and a first for the 3 new characters as in Junker Queen, Sojourn, and Kiriko. Good luck when doing that if you do it, I would love to watch it 😂
love your videos. always so informative. You're my go-to for news and information regarding the game. you don't really post the OW drama and i appreciate that
New vid suggestion: 1 synergy for every ALLIED hero. Teach us how to play effectively with every other possible teammate. Like where to set up when you have an allied Ana, how to utilize an allied Rein's shield etc.
I really think that Bastion's rework would've benefitted from an ability that made use of Ganymede (maybe have him swoop down to peck at an enemy's face to stun them?) instead of that weird bouncing grenade...
You missed a couple things: - Orisa’s fortify cooldown went from 10 seconds to 12 seconds - Zaryas bubbles start cooldown on activation rather than on destruction - junkrats trap does 100 damage now instead of 80 - soldier’s movement speed was not reduced as that was reverted - baptiste’s damage falloff was at 25 meters in Overwatch 1 they just nerfed it to 20 meters in the initial beta and then reverted the nerf in the last patch - baptiste’s regen burst had its cooldown increased to 15 seconds from 13 Honestly this is actually kinda a lot dunno how he missed all of this.
Would like to add that Sigma's Accretion, without a doubt, has more knockback than it did in Ow1. At least i swear it does. in ow1 you could knock them off if there standing almost off already. Ow2 they can just be slightly close and i can usually knock them off now.
@@Steampunk_Kak knock back wise I’m not sure but I feel like it’s the same just cause I haven’t seen anyone mention it but I’m definitely not certain on that
@@sideeswipe I just feel like i've been able to knock them off ledges way easier than before, when in ow1 they had to almost be standing off the ledge in the first place to get knocked off.
I love that balance : Mercy : now falls slower and regen is not unique anymore. Woohoo. Kiriko : knockback/invincibilty/cleanse/instant heal on one button :D
It really sucks to see everyone getting some kind of buff, but Mei just got absolutely nerfed to the point that she doesn’t even feel fun to play anymore
Incorrect. They nerfed his Dragonblade by 10 damage per slice one time & they buffed Dragonblade in O2 by no longer canceling the final slice with the Sheathe animation.
I played an OW1 mod that changed Mei's movement, and it's too bad OW2 didn't use it. You could freeze a path along the floor with her gun to travel faster, but at the expense of ammo (and looking up) so there was a great risk vs reward mechanic to it.
I think it’s a smart little change to Cassidy’s ult. It’s a little quicker to get to the 200 damage needed to kill a squishy, but takes a while longer to get to the 600-800 damage range to kill most tanks. Where there is only one tank in OW2 that change makes sense to me.
@@Kyxul it’s kind of funny because in game I still by habit call him Mcree. I’m glad they changed it after it was known the developer they named mcree after was part of the sexual harassment scandal at Blizzard. In game I always fumble on the characters names when making call outs, so mcree is easier for me then trying to remember the name change. It’s funny though that four people replied the same thing on my comment.
I fixed your doomfist script: "Doomfist has been converted from a DPS to a vegetable. The only tank that can't do burst damage to quickly kill a squishy hero. Like Winston. So to go along with Overwatch 2, we now have Winston 2.
RIP my love Mei 💗😪 7 nerfs for some inconsistent damage on a beam that's not even about dealing damage.. gonna play tank if devs don't let her remain fun I guess
@@FireManiac58 she is already quite tanky with the self heal/invulnerability and a wall, things that undoubtedly many normal tanks have, also roadhog doesn't have any kind of team protection, yet he is a tank, i fail to see the point you are trying to make
Stopped playing about 2 years ago and I'm considering to at least try OW2, so thanks for the update! I was a Mercy-main, but getting to know all the other supports and their abilities makes me wonder why one would ever pick a mercy above all the others. it's a shame. I loved playing her, but hated how useless one felt in comparison. and now, with all the utility the others bring to the table and the general change to much faster games seems to let her fall off even more...
I was afraid her GA rework was going to be worse than it turned out. I haven't gotten to play her yet but it looks like it might be an improvement to her mobility.
@@MStonewallC Unfortunately it's actually a nerf that further lowers her skill ceiling and maximum potential from where it was in OW1. While it's probably more easy to pick up for new Mercy players, it's objectively weaker than old superjump.
What so you mean? Her mobility is increased. She unique in the sense she has powerboost and revive. I don't know where you are getting that she is an inferior support because she isn't.
@@Uniacoty the only things she has to support her team are her healing and damage boosting. It's only one thing at a time at only one target a time (outside of valk). She can't provide team utility and doesn't has burst heal when necessary. If I compare her to the newest support? Kiriko can teleport and wallclimb (mobility), she can heal, cleanse, give immortality frames and her ult also increases teams mobility and reduces cooldowns. That's a whole lot more for her team. The res already felt inferior in OW1... You want to help your team BEFORE they die (yes, a good res can be powerful, but it's not fun imo). But that's just my take on the situation. If her demand in teams is as high as the other supports then I guess I was wrong. I don't mean it in an offensive way. I was a diehard mercymain in OW1. I love her and imo she was fun. But I hoped that they would do more for her in OW2 than take an ability the players already had discovered for themselves and just use that and think the deed is done.
Sad about Symmetra (she has been my damage main since back when she was a support, before her major rework). I'll have to learn to play her again, but it seems like some fair adjustments. As for Mercy, I am happy they have a real superjump button now! It took some practice to get her superjump in OW1, and it really wasn't the easiest thing to repeat reliably when in the middle of a battle, so this should be fun.
She's fun yeah, it's like a zen with improved mobility, high dps if you have enough accuracy and easy to apply heals so you can pretty much be a dps that also heals the team when needed, and like with zen, the satisfaction of winning a 1v1 agaisnt a dps it's amazing
Are you sure? It seems to be the same. The Biotic Grasp ability feels like it lasts longer and recharges quicker now though, but I'm not sure if it really does.
Hey Karq do you think you could make a video breaking down how to play tanks differently now that there’s only one of you; it would be very helpful for tank players who are used to having another tank buddy
@@thorveim1174 knockback does stop you, it displaces you, moving you in a different direction; suddenly. I don't mind knockback, same as I don't mind stun. It is annoying that "cc" pretty much only means "stun" now, when it isn't the only crowd control.
@@fettbub92 yeah by cc people often mean "hard" cc that really disable the opponent. And thats what more people don't like about stuns: that during it, you cant do anything anymore. For the duration, you are literally prevented to play the game. I can get why some find it frustrating; a knockback though? You can still fight back while pushed around, you arent entirely helpless.
I absolutely hate the bastion rework :/ playing aggressive bastion was fun because of the immobility, you had to know when to get in and out of a situation. He's been stripped of all his uniqueness gameplay wise, I guess the sticky grenade is cool tho. also, echo's change should simply have been they only get one ult after changing into someone. The usefulness of her ult should be the versatility not the magnitude
As someone who used to play a lot of ball but hasn’t played overwatch in a while, I am very disappointed they removed the wall jumping tech, it was such a cool thing that was easy to learn
You can grab back your knife with junker queen by walking on it or by pressing right clic. If you do so and the blade was stuck into an ennemy, they get pulled toward you
Something new I discovered that you haven't mentioned about Reinhardt (at least not until 6:50) is that his ult can now crit. If his hammer hits directly a target, he can get a critical hit instead of a regular one, dealing quite a lot of damage, allowing you to oneshot threatening DPS characters regardless (Reaper for example, who now barely survives a charge)
Thank you very much for that. I couldnt follow up with all the OW2 changes or beta gameplay, so this is a quick and nice summary of the most important hero changes. Thanks for that !
