Tess the Enema Collector is probably the worst typo I've seen this year so far. That's quite the unfortunate misspelling there. As cool as Mind Link is, I think it would have to be limited to a solo or story fight. Can't really use this idea as a card you can put into your deck.

I was thinking for "a new hero is born" you could have it be something like discover a champion, replace your hero with it. Then you choose a few paladin legendaries and make a hero card based on it. So Tirion would equip a weapon and have divine shield, the colossal wouldn't be an option, etc. You choose just a few that have nice flavor and fit well, and add them to the champion pool. But this poses another problem in that you are now giving paladin a bunch of new hero cards all at once. I just don't think the card is at all salvageable, which is a shame because the flavor is actually cool

That Zephry could be improved while sacrificing some flavour I imagine having a few key descriptions ("Biggest minion", "A legendary", "Most expensive spell", etc) and letting you choose from it. Not as versatile or cool as original Zephyr but easier to code.

The submitted design could literally just use Zerphys's existing code, though. The only problem with the card is how hard it is to actually get it to do anything, while Blizzard keeps releasing sets that make the core set look like a joke.

@@blahthebiste7924 zephry has been suffering a lot from core set changes. I don't know what causes it, but he has gotten dumber and dumber each patch. In the past, he looked at the board and gave you three different ways of achieving a great results, now he just gives you the same card three times. Lethals And board clears have suffered the most from this. In a game I played just yesterday, my opponent was a hunter with 3 health and a secret, while I was a paladin. - I play zephry. In the past, Zephrys would look at the possition and give you night blade, true silver and a lighting bolt. - three different ways to achieve lethal. Now, he gave me fire ball, swipe and, I think, hellfire - all expensive spells that make it so I can't kill my opponent because of ice trap. Similar problem exists with board clears, where zeph misses obvious superior choices, or just gives you only one boardclear which doesn't actually help. Zeph needs some serious help from Devs, but I don't think that he is going to get it.

What you suggest would be extremely overpowered and a bad mechanic for the game though. Tutor cards are problematic in and of themselves because they can make combo decks too consistent - just look at druid right now and how much people dislike it, the core reason for that is how easy it is for them to tutor for the cards they want, so every game against them feels the same. Having a neutral minion that can tutor for specific combo pieces, and not only that, but can potentially tutor for multiple different combo pieces, so if you already got you highest cost card (which is a part of the combo in this scenario) in hand, you can use him to draw a different combo piece instead... that'd be very oppressive. You could work around that _somewhat_ by making him a class card or being very careful about which choices he offers, but it'd be hard to make it impossible for him to be abused by combo decks even then, and if you actually succeeded he'd probably see no play because he'd be just another (slightly flexible) card draw minion at that point.

The two birds one stone gives your opponent two infuses' as well. Campire might be cooler with a 2 durability, 2 mana, location , Neutral. I liked the idea of mind link, though seems better as a druid themed card not priest. The lion was great!

Eh druid isn't much about minds, that's priest's thing. But agreed on the campfire, that sounds like a really cool kind of thing they could put in the third expansion of the year or the 2023 core set. Reminds me of the sphere of sapience

Mind Link is definitely more Priest-themed. One of priest's mechanics is getting cards from your opponents deck/hand, and we already had cards like Archbishop Benedictus which are very close to Mind Link as far as theme goes. Druid never had anything similar to it, and it's not part of their class identity.

I think Gather Supplies for campfire is intended to be 3 discovers. Otherwise, it would just read "Add two random spells to your hand and one to your opponent". The interesting part is that, while you are going through the three discovers, you have to think about how each might benefit your opponent.

I like that mind link card. Here's my thought on how to fix it. Legendary spell seven cost start a game condition. Flexible whatever you want if the condition is met. Shuffle your deck together. You share one deck MindLink when cast from hand unshuffles or breaks the link

The way to salvage A New Hero is Born is to just make its own new archetype and have it select from a small subset of new Paladin minions. Probably also lose the whole "replace your hero" and other wordy text and just have it say something like, discover a hero's blessing or something. Or give it the Macaw and Parrot minions treatment of repeating/copying the last thing that you played.

What if "Mind Link" was released in a set where it supports an archetype, in addition to being released as a minion? Maybe priest minions have a battle cry that benefits priest players specifically when they're triggered (e.g. Battlecry: restore 5 health to each priest hero)

I mean, quest priest does already win 1-2 turns after they put the shard in their deck, mostly becouse they'll usually just draw it on the same turn with Thrive in the shadows

zephrys could probably be done by putting "tags" on cards. for example, "infuse", "AoE", "Damage 6", and then zephrys compiling a number of relevant tags, and drawing all cards in your deck with those tags. So, if your opponent has a board full of volatile skeletons, it would see "your opponent has 5+ minions with 2 health" and draw you every aoe in your deck that dealt at least 2 damage, plus silences for the deathrattles, and probably every spell that dealt 2 or 3 damage to a single target. it should probably just draw *one useful* card instead of *every perfect* card, but it's not entirely unsalvageable.

I always try to guess along side Trump to figure out if I can balance cards OK. I took one look at Orisa and thought that card was perfect! I love it! I really hope they make Orisa into a card (doesn't need to be "Orisa") and making her a hero card would be great!

Mr. Trump, I think you missunderstood what the creator of the Advisor Zephyrs meant. I presume it would look at the 3 cards Zephyrs the Great would offer when played at a given point, but instead of discovering the cards you have to have them in your deck (and then draw them).

@@Elsuya_Milo It would be horribly bad, but not specific imo. E.G you play it on empty board and it would offer you Tirion, you would need to be a paladin that has Tirion in his deck. Or you are playing warrior at 7 mana and draw 2 copies of Brawl. Basically a tutor card for specific board states.

Campfire breaks wild, because extra 2 mana resurrect for Big Priest. They would absolutely play worse resurrect. Marionette cross on t4 would be fine in wild. Remember it can be weapon hated off. The only fix to it, would be giving the Marionette summon sickness.

Mind Link is a really interesting card and I don't think it needs to be a minion Battlecry. Could just read "Draw 3 cards" at the end, which would both buff the card while also letting you get 3 cards from the combined deck earlier.

Marionette Cross is very interesting with Deathrattles, I dont think it would be overpowered with them (if the 4/2/2 wasnt in the rotation) but it is very interesting

Theoretically you could program zephyrs to look for burn if the opponent is in range, look for removal if your opponent has a board, or pull the biggest minion you can play if the board is empty. But even if they managed to program that it would be a terrible card to print since it would be incredibly unfun to play against an opponent who from turn 2 forward is guaranteed to have the perfect response to anything you do.

I actually have a concern with Halteah being on the strong side in that it, I think, would handle as a Sire Denathrius esq effect. The way I see it, it's a Flamestrike with lifesteal that also hits face and leaves an 8/10 body behind. At this point in time, there aren't any secrets that can shut down battlecries, so it also can't be countered, though the body could get mitigated. kidnap might get a rogue into even more trouble depending on the way the timing shakes out. You might be able to argue making it 9 Mana, but it's still quite powerful one way or the other.

The zephrys, wouldn’t take thousands nor hundreds of hours, if they won’t make it too specific. What I mean, is that they can put up cards that have the same type like twisting nether, whirlwind, spirit lash (aoe) and make it the same tag, it wouldn’t be perfect but you will always get a good card. If make it exact for each and every card, it would take an insane amount of time, but the old zephyrs works closer to the way I described

Make Mindlink draw you 2-3 Cards, wouldnt make it great, but its on the same venue of "Sprint" with the added disruption. Also you now immediately reap some benefits of the effect, possibly drawing into some of your enemys cards.

Make mind link a quest: Steal 5 cards from your opponent. This change gets rid of the high mana cost and it allows you to finish the quest whenever you want to

I think a new hero is born doesn't reference keywords at all, so cards like worsen infiltrator and colossals aren't an issue. The real issue is that squirrel mech that says "gain stealth for one turn" on a battlecry.

Gather supplies should be worded: discover a spell to give to your opponent, you get the other 2" and just skip the 3 spells part and use the mechanic once.

The reason Campfire ends your turn is clearly because its effects are incredibly strong for the mana cost, so being able to follow up after you discover THREE spells is bonkers. The rez component needs a rework, however, and is kinda a flavour fail? A better third option in theme would probably be something referring to skill progression, creative outlets, navel-gazing, or intra-party social interaction.

Mind Link would be better on a minion, but more than that, have there be an incentive to keep it alive. Maybe reword it as “You draw from your opponents deck in addition to your own.”

solution for mind link would be to put it on a 5 mana Minion giving you a 3 mana spell mindlink. that way ou have to wait a bit until you can weave it into a turn. your opponent maybe can try to draw as much as they can so they have a little time to play around it and if you do it on turn 8 youre basically giving up a turn because the minion is smaller. if you do it on curve turn 6 you at least spend half your mana on turn 6 wich is an important breakpoint turn when playing against aggro

I think you could change mind link to maybe incorporate psychic scream into it or maybe it draw cards after decks are combined. Although this would be a lot of text on a card, drawing 2 or 3 cards, some of which are from your opponents deck makes it at least playable. Doing psychic scream before it would pretty much just make this into a board clear so obv you would make more expensive but at least it would do something then.

I think to save mindlink you’d have to put it on a minion with whatever stats to make it fair to play and to save the design it could be one of those old god facehugger minions or something old god related

Zephris the Advisor probably isn’t as hard to program as you would think, since from my understanding the Original Zephris would just check board states of every classic card after you cast them, Zephris the Advisor would have to actually make less checks than the Original Zephris. That being said, there is a lot of nuance to it, especially considering as mechanics are added and whatnot, and the balance would just be horrendous regardless, especially since it doesn’t have any restrictions. Definitely a 1 star design 1 star balance.

I'm pretty sure this is how some hero interactions *are* actually coded. Weapons and a heroes are minions, Hero Power is a card. Some Hysteria's mythbuster videos and similar experiments strongly indicate that.

Marionette cross should just be a warrior hero card: "Oger the Ogre" Battlecry: Equip an enemy minion. Hero power: Gain one attack and attack a random enemy. More flavor and no ways to cheat it out early.

1:50 An objection to Trump that there is precedent for this sort of effect being called Discover in cards such as Theotar, the Mad Duke, who Discover's a card in each player's hand and swaps them. Or, alternatively, any of the 'Suspicious' cards from Nathria (The ones that let you discover a spell, weapon, etc. but if your opponent guesses your choice, you get a copy.) I object that Discover is a perfectly good descriptor for this card effect.

Marionette Cross also has the problem of high health = high durability, if you marionette an 8/8, thats 64 potential damage, could be fixed by adding a "with less than x health" to the card, that adds more thinking to it.

What if the yogg instead plays the rest of your opponent's deck (targets chosen randomly)? It'd be a cool mill card, for one. As for mind link, maybe just tack on a bit of card draw? If it's basically sprint with a twist...

Mind Link is disruptive but how do you win? I feel anyone who happens to draw a "card draw" card basically wins instantly. And if it's an even split it's just down to luck on what the opponent has and if you can win with it

I would definitely run Mind Link in Quest Priest if it was a slightly lower mana cost. You're basically spending mana to make both decks much worse, which would contribute to the game taking much longer to end, which is a net benefit for quest priest. It would also break up any game ending combos of the opposing deck without too greatly interfering with your own win condition.

@@Azkadaz Just don't play the quest reward until you can tutor it on the same turn? You usually draw the shard immediately. Priest is better at finding stuff in their deck than anyone except maybe druid. You wouldn't really be on a clock to play it since most kill combos will be much weaker.

I know this is late and people likely won't see it, but what if Mind Link had the same effect but the cards in the opponent's deck cost one more to cast? That way you gain tempo for the rest of the game and could build the deck to have a 10 mana finisher that they probably can't uses while not technically winning the game on the spot.

I assume "Zephyrus the Advisor" defines "perfect" cards as any of the cards that Zephyrus could discover. So if you have any cars in your deck that Zephyrus could discover at the time "zephyrus the advisor" is played, you draw them.

I really think the zephrys card is salvageable. Just make it draw the perfect card instead. Then it's probably programmable, because it just has to consider the cards that fit your curve this turn or next turn. And similarly to how the current zephrys is programmed it can then take the subset of those cards and evaluate the board state after the card has been drawn. Problem of course is that 2 mana 3/2 draw a card that fits your curve is probably too strong.

The problem becomes what if I'm on turn 10 but actually need my Mordresh Fire-eye to survive, but it finds Frost Lich Jaina? Making it analyze the deck and finding what it views to be the "perfect card" is going to, at some point, lead to problems with coding complexity, if not major misses. Zephyrys generally isn't played on curve, he's played when you need an answer or are looking to end. It's a neat idea, but really the only way you could reasonably pull it off is "look through your deck, pick a card and draw it". That's very codable, but you have issues of the system showing that many cards at once. I'm not sure how they'd get it to display, especially once you need to shrink it down to the mobile platform

@@edschramm6757 why would it draw jaina? What I recommend wouldn't do that. It should look at both of them and evaluate how playing them changes the boardstate, notice that mordesh clears the board and let's you survive thus drawing it. Which is how the current zephrys does it.

@@gulgaffel it may see that I have elementals on the field and (wrongly) believe that I can lifesteal out of lethal. Or a better example: it sees Mordresh and Flamestrike, but my hero power has only dealt 7 this game, so when it draws Mordresh, he's not active, nor able to be activated before I die, where Flamestrike would have bought time.
