The funniest thing I've ever done is use an altar of dementia to make a 10/10 eldrazi and then used brudiclad to turn all my goblins into eldrazis. I felt like an absolute ass afterwards because instead of killing my buddy with damage, like the ass I am, I ended up milling 100 cards from his deck with altar of dementia by sacrificing 1 eldrazis.
Some people like to change it up, make the big and splashy play. Shared animosity is great, but it's also in every ovika deck. Be the change you want to see in commander and bring back the 7 mana win-cons
Should this be cast in response to declaring blockers, or before? I'm guessing that even after blockers are declared, if the creatures turn into fliers, then the blockers are "un-declared???"
Should definitely be cast before blockers. Once the creatures are declared to be "blocked" it won't matter that they're flyers. So when you declare attackers be sure to hold priority and then cast dragonshift.
A blocked creature remain block unless a card says otherwise. So making a blocked goblin into à flying dragon wont make it "un blocked" unless the card says something like " blocked creatures become unblocked "
Here's a 2pc question (extra crispy): if I cast this for its overload cost, am I creating tokens based off what I cast or what the original CMC is? And in either case, would Ovika resolve before this cards effect or after?
Because Ovika triggers on cast and overload is an alternate casting cost you would get 7 1/1 goblins on cast. Then when dragonshift resolves you can turn all your creatures into dragons, including the 7 new goblins you just created.
Koolaiddude pointed it out a few months ago below....might not make you goblins but it's a good finisher in ovika nonetheless, thanks for pointing that out
