Great job and video! Had I watched your video, I would have tried to install the same spare tire carrier. Your installation looks neat and free of backup sensor interference. I’m currently using a carrier on a swing-away hitch adapter. The spare tire is covered by a soft cover. The drawback is backup sensor beeping sounds. However, it’s convenient to take down spare tire. It’s also easy for adding a cargo carrier without taking down the spare tire.
That’s awesome! You look like Linguoer- mechanic on RU-vid. She’s a Chinese girl that fixes everything. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Thanks Doug, so I wasn’t the only who was scared to drill that hole. 😂I was driving on the freeway earlier and heard a loud thump. I looked in the rear view mirror but wasn’t sure if the spare tire fell off or not so I stopped on the shoulder. Vincent was in the back seat talking to his client also hung up on his client when he heard the thump. He looked over and saw the tire was still on the rack. 😂😂😂The Starlink still showed connected on the app so we know Starlink is still on the roof. Still don’t know where the loud sound came from. 🤔 😂😂
Great job on the project and video! You have inspired us on more than a couple of your upgrades. I especially like the mirror on the fridge. 🥰The latest for us is the spare tire carrier, which we also had painted to match. Love the clean look of the continental cover (stainless ring with paint matched face plate). It is now sitting in our garage as we try to figure out how to mount the tire onto the carrier with the spare tire cover on? Or getting the cover onto the spare after it is mounted on the carrier. Any words of advice in advance of your next video???
Thanks for watching. 🤗I am glad you found our videos helpful in your upgrades. We finally put on the Boomerang matching cover but we didn’t make a video since our son offered to help lift the tire from the rack. I don’t think you could put the tire with the cover on the rack. The cover has to go over the tire after it is on the rack. For us we had to take off the tire and cut that long screw since it was too long for the cover plate. We also didn’t use the wing nut that came with mount because it was also in the way of the cover plate. So my husband took the screw to Home Depot and found a round nut and ring that fit with the screw. He and my son put the tire back in position a little bit higher than the base of the rack and tightened a little bit. While they were holing it I opened and slide the stainless steel ring over the tire then put the plate on inside the lip of the ring. Last step was to tighten the ring. Oh I did place 2 big thick round pads where the tire touches the base so the cover doesn’t get scratched. Those pads are just the ones we use for the furniture legs.
Ok, that makes sense. That is one heavy tire so we will need to round up a friend or set up some sort of hoist on the tire to get that ring on. It's going to look sharp when we get it done.@@BamBamRVAdventures
Thank you for watching. We plan to add some insulation materials later on also. And that is a great idea to put the sound deadening materials in the back doors also. We already bought the materials to put in the front doors.
Thank you. I am glad you found the video helpful. I had it powder coated by a local powder coating company. They made 2 different swatches of silver paint and I just have to choose the closest one that matches with the van.
Thank you Jay! 🤗We don’t plan to install the storage box since we haven’t travel long enough to need more storage space. I finally gave into carrying a spare tire because my brother just had a flat tire on his van. 😂
Thank you for watching 🤗Everything seems to work fine. We didn’t have to turn off parking or back up sensor. We drove around after the install just to make sure the tire is attached well and all sensors still work. 😂
Yep, no insulation at all in the rear doors. Since we haven’t camp in cold weather yet so haven’t put insulation in but we will probably will in the future when we start to camp in colder weather.
