I've been looking at this car for months, it's basically a Japanese muscle car. I was looking at the charger rt for a while, but then I saw the numbers. I think it's the best bang for the buck , this car is everything the rt is and more. I can't wait to get mine.
Unfortunately I never drove a 2012 Acura TL. My brother had a 2003 Type S and a 2008 TL with the 3.2...and those were solid cars but nothing close to the M56x. Totally different worlds.
I've got mine!! Same color and everything!! I laughed a little and smiled a lot when you mentioned how sometimes when you park it and walks away you take a look back, like, "Dayyuuummmmmm girlll!!! You look gooooood!", Lol. I did that shit today!! Too proud, and she's a beast to boot!! Luxury and more power than "they'd" expect out of her! I'm wit'cha, bro'. Riding 'til the wheels fall off!
I have been looking at the m56x for a while and I saw you have your phone apps on the screen on the dash. Is that a mod you did or just a stock feature?
Hey there David! That is the aftermarket GROM Audio VLINE VL2 entertainment system at work! I have a few videos on my channel showcasing the system. Check them out. Thanks for watching!
can you please do a launch i keep seeing regular m56 with the rwd i wanna see how the AWD launches from a stop. im planning on getting this could u do one brake torque launching, and one just stepping on it please. i prefer exterior view, but if you can do both i would just like to see.
I shorted out my interior lighting and a few other things when changing an interior lighting in my 03 M45. Nice to see infiniti is still going strong with these issues 👌 user error on such a common action should not cause such a crazy problem - I can say this I'm an engineer
I have a 2012 M37S with the sport package. Bought it in 2017 with 87k miles and now it has 121k miles. Very good car. The only major issue I have is the 4 wheel steering failed shortly after I bought it. So I have the 4ws and traction lights on all the time for the last 3 years. Fixing the issue will costs a lot of $$$$. Otherwise, it’s a great car in every way, performance, comfort, and style
Hi there! There is actually a fix for the 4WS on NICOClub that has already helped a few people and it's considerably cheaper than the option your referring too! Take a look and see if it helps! Thanks for watching!
9:49 your math is wrong. j/k, thanks for the long term review. I'm looking at picking up a 3-4 year old Q70L to replace my 04 G35 sedan and there's not a lot of info on them.
I would check to make sure the timing chain work has been done and that it includes the high pressure fuel pump basket. Otherwise just try to get maintenance history and you should be good!
Thank you! Re: valve train...Is it? Guess I never noticed but it sounds like a normal car too me. I'm assuming by MMO you mean the red mystery oil additive? I run 2 caps of seafoam with every oil change and have been doing some on this M and my last one for like 8 years now. Kind of like a maintenance dose so to speak.
Its not the valve train. Its the mechanical high pressure fuel pump and the direct injection fuel injectors that run at 80 volts to open against the 2,000+ psi fuel pressure. My trans went out at 130K.
Hi there. Yes, that was Android Auto. It's a third party install and I have two videos on my channel reviewing the setup along with a link to a step by step installation document I wrote on NICOClub. Thanks for watching!
Haha yeah. At this point I'm not putting anymore 'mod' money into the car but if I get a 2019 in 2 years or so I will certainly be doing stuff like that.
I love my 2011 Silver-Grey Infiniti M56x. I bought it new in February 2012. When I get out or I approach my car I saw a hot, timeless, classy lines design inside and out the car. Lots of extras in 2011 just becoming standard on 2022 cars. After an expensive battery replacement and 3rd transmission oil change at 75k, my mpg went from 19.5 to 26.3 on a long trip from Missoula, MT, to Lake Vermillion, MN! I used the 6th & 7th gears on flats runs. I like this car, paid from the get go.
I had a question when you said to put LED light bulbs is you talked about in the headlights are you talking about in the inside of the car and what about changing out your fog lights 2 LED lights does that make a problem are in various 2 the car because I see a lot of people got Infinities change out the fog lights to LED lights
Thanks for watching! I have LED lights everywhere but my main headlights. Interior, fog lights, turn signals, etc. If you disconnect your battery before replacing the bulbs you should have no issue. It's a best practice anyway.
@@FstLaneUkraine yea il have to keep my V6. I have just always been very curious about the V8 model. But the one around me is has 130k but needs both cats and they still want $16k lol they are ridiculous
The M37 and the successor Q70/70L is a pretty solid and for the most part very reliable platform. Some say the styling is dated but it works and can be under estimated in terms of design, performance, handling and ride. If this one does give up the ghost I would recommend trying to find a Q70/70L if possible. Get the latest model year you can find and although no major styling changes from M series to Q70/70L but fairly modern, some would say too simple interior and equipment but again effective and decent value. I compared against the Audi A6, BMW 5 and 7 series, Mercedes E class, newer Volvos (20-5 and newer) and even other competence Pacific Rim vehicles, (Acura TLX/RLX, Lexus GS/LS series etc..... Comparison was objective however with a slight bias since I had a 2012 M37 so that was able to give me a idea ogle how the platform worked with handling, performance, ride, technology and equipment etc.... Almost 125K I would change the struts and that should give you a few more years of enjoyment. There are fairly frequent reports of 300K miles which in your case could be another five-ten years. $3000 is a bit much for the intake manifold and won’t try to see if independent repair shop with either Infiniti specific or Foreign Auto Repair specialist. Since you are going with the struts being removed that could also be a good time to replace other high mileage wear items (Ball Joints, Tie Rod, bushings, hub bearing assembly if applicable and alignment. The rust also needs to be addressed especially in NY, it will spread through. Even with $4-5K in repairs that is still way cheaper than a new vehicle unless you go with the trad field newer Q70/70L plan. Don’t fall for the “Maintenance Free” transmission either. They say maintenance free because the dealer wants to sell you either new transmission or better yet new vehicle. There is a way to drain and refill the transmission fluid. There is no filter like older models but even fresh fluid is better than nothing. The M35/37 and Q70/70L still have some systems that can be done without dealer intervention which makes it nice. Plugs, belts, brakes, fluids, filters can be done at home with fairly basic tools and minor-moderate mechanical skills. I would say that unless there are other problems that suspension, tires, brakes, fluids and the intake manifold repair might be expensive but should get you another five-ten years. Engine and powertrain have a pretty good history of reliability and long term durability. You might have heard that some older Japanese vehicles will still have running engines even if the body rusts out around it. The M/Q70/70L is a pretty good example of that concept. Good luck!!
Thank you for the feedback and details. Totally agree with your assessment, I own a Q70h, no problem at all, it is a shame that Infiniti does not know how to market their car properly, their engineering and reliability are superb!
I replace those every 30kmi as a regular maintenance item (assuming you are referring to the PCV valves). Did any shops or dealers say it was cats? I don't quite understand how the PCV would throw that code...
I had to change the cats on mine at about 95K. I was able to remove the steering shaft and get the manifolds out without removing the engine. Took a solid 5 hours of work on the drivers side and about 2 on the passenger side.
Thanx for posting this review. 8 days ago on sat 5/16/2020 in tempe AZ I bought a 2011 M56 S with 63k on the odometer for just a tad south of $17k. Its black with a mix of red (not sure what exact color that is considered) but so far love it. When I am driving it I can just feel all that power is waiting for me and ready for me to use anytime I need it. No it wont get the gas mileage of a prius but if gas mileage and power is what you want get a Tesla. So far no major issues other than the hood wont stay open when I lift it up and the info/entertainment system doesnt seem to read my USB port of MP3 songs when I attach it the center console. It does recognize it as it says "reading". But I am spending 20-30 minutes a day here and there just going in and playing with the info/entertainment/nav system. Fortunately I can just go into ACC mode and not have to actually have the motor running in order to play with it. I know some people say they are afraid of the maintenance bills for a big super fast complex car with all these gadgets. But other than playing music and using the nav system I dont really plan on using much else. And you hit the nail on the head when u mentioned that "u take care of a car, it will take care of u". I am going to take it to my local shop and have the oil changed even though the info system says it has another 3750 miles tilll I need one. Pamper a car and it will pamper u.
Congrats on your purchase! I think for the USB stick, it needs to be formatted a certain way in order for it to be read IIRC. Or possibly that the USB is only for the iPod. Either way, congrats!
@@FstLaneUkraine my 12 g37 with no nav no Bose has a USB port inside the arm rest. I plugged in my iPhone and it wouldn’t read my phone. It’s says something like connecting on the info screen and it stays there like that. You know the fix?
I recently had a 2013 M56SX and loved it, it took me so long to find it and there are very few in the country but when I did I was not disappointed until a lady not paying attention smashed my car. I was extremely upset but the most important part is I was not seriously injured so I just recently purchased a 2017 Q70S and hope it will be just as awesome as my M56SX was
Gonna look at a silver one this week, I’m excited. I hope they give me a good deal. I was going to buy a Lexus GS460 but it sold soon as they got it. Now those are even more rare. I had a 2008 GS350 and loved it but I want a V8 luxury sport sedan now.
Driver, you may. We got my wife's QX60 from Atlanta and drove it back cause the deal we wanted and vehicle we wanted was hard to find up here. Good luck on your hunt!
@@FstLaneUkraine 1. do you mean the power steering rack on the rear for 4WAS HICAS? 2. Can you give me your thoughts/opinion oiling issue with M56s? -> They do have an oiling issue that the trucks do not have. It creates a lot of sludge. So if you hangs your oil, even 300 miles later it's going to be sludge. It's working but it's not circulating as well as it could and getting too hot up near the top of the cylinder heads. A private Nissan/Infiniti mechanic pointed this out and basically said that it's rare to see them run over 200K
I'll say this...the M56x is a bit of a pig in the warm months and sometimes becomes a bit laggy (I think its software related but Infiniti won't own up to it)...but in the cold months...WOW. Thing runs like a liar with his pants on fire.
Throttle response is TERRIBLE over 85°F outside. Iften felt like I was going to get killed in mine. Oil temps over 210°F was the cause. An oil cooler fixed that issue for me. Mine had random misfire P0300 at 100K from carboned intake valves. Walnut shell blasted the valves and it ran perfect after.
I do my own maintenance so I can't really speak to how much it costs to own this car if relying on shops. My own oil changes though cost me like $65 in parts. Thanks for watching!
Yep, that was the fix. Cost about 2k +- depending on dealer but I also had them do a few other fluids too so not sure 100% as it's been a year how much exactly just the rack was. I wanna say 1.5k?
@@FstLaneUkraine damn, yeaaa I figured. Also have the Parking Brake and ABS/Traction lights flicker under heacy acceleration. By chance, do you know what that could be?
You can ask the dealer and give them your VIN to see if the recall was performed, unless it was done at a private garage. Not sure on how to tell, but you can probably find that information on NICOClub.com.
It has car play and android auto. It just replaces the iPod source. And yes, everything still works. Find my other videos on my channel about the system.
Would taking the battery out before replacing the lightbulbs effect the outcome? Or just don't change the lightbulbs on this car. 😅 I'm looking to buy a used 2011 with 130k on the motor, it's super clean and I can't afford to be buying new parts due to a possibility of a short in the system. Would you say just get the Lexus IS350 or Gs350 instead? I really love the VQ motor though, and the design of the car. It would be a "one of a kind" car, where I'm from because you never see them riding around. (I live in the country) Well honestly any of the above three cars will stand out in my town full of civics and v6 chargers/mustangs....
Just saw that this was the V8, which I wouldn't mind either... But the car I'm looking at is a M37, pretty much the exact same car other than the motor. If I could find a m56 within a hundred miles of me, that was in good shape, I'd opt for that instantly. That or a Lexus GS460. I have a special place in my heart for japanese V8's (owned four Ls400's haha)
Hey there, unfortunately I never did. I'm probably right around stock taking into account mileage/age (typical loss of a bit of performance) and my UpRev tune and intake hoses.
If you’re constantly filling up maybe its leaking from the hose. I did that with my rad hose and it fixed. Just think maybe it would be the ideal situation. Unless you fixed it issue
Hi, im planning to purchase m56. I heard if m56 has rear worm gear issue. It’s very hard to fix even at Infiniti dealership. Have you seen or experienced rear worm gear problems??
Hi there! I've been the NICOClub moderator for the Infiniti M series for nearly a decade and I must say the term 'worm gear' is not ringing any bells so I would say that it's an extremely rare issue (I read almost every new thread posted as part of my moderation duties). As long as the car has a good maintenance history and you know how it was taken care of, you should be okay. I've had great luck with mine reliability wise compared to other makes/models.
@@FstLaneUkraine Hi! Thank you so much for kind and detailed reply! Actually the problem im talking about is ‘rear steering hicas rack’ problem.. You know m56s has rear steering that moves unlike normal cars. It would be great if you also could tell me which parts i should look for when I purchase m56s has 120k + miles on it..
Ahh, yes, the rear HICAS issue is a somewhat common one on the 4WAS cars but there is a thread on NICOClub that someone found an easy way to repair without spending thousands at the dealer. Just search for '4WAS' in the search bar under the M forum.
My 2011 M37s has a leaking steering rack (rack & pinion) on the drivers side. That may be why yours is dropping steering fluid. It just comes with wear. I will have to get that Rack and Pinion replaced at some point, but I'm just waiting for the right time. Check that out for that symptom (if you haven't already). I'd be curious if that's the cause.
Yep, sorry if my video wasn't clear but I had the rack replaced within a month of moving to FL. Was about $1,500 IIRC but I had some other service performed as well. Steering is nice and tight now.
