Vegetarian for 10 years, big fan of spinach smoothies, pretty much every day, I ended up with a stage 3 colon cancer, which I cured with a 21-day fast and a strict keto-carnivore diet. The cancer was gone in four months, I have no proof, but I completely blame oxalates.

@@saskiad.5734 Most animals one very limited diet. The new human idea of a big variety is not natural nor healthy. If you eat many types of meats, red, white, fish, eggs, in many forms... you won't over eat because it is then not about entertainment but about eating to live. Some carnivores include raw dairy products. Looking for plant variety is not going to give you health, only temporary pleasure. And once you get used to eating animal foods, you lose you desire for plants. Eating carbs creates addiction to them. This goes away over time.

Please keep sending out your message. About 10-13 years ago they started those 30 day green smoothie challenges. I started with the usual spinach. I don't like spinach but they said I would not taste it if I added fruit. I also found that peanut butter and chocolate are almost as bad (at least for me) as spinach. Water is what saved me. I was hospitalized twice in 2 weeks as soon as I learned what all this meant I never had another, Thanks for all your videos. You have helped me. I bought Sally Norton's book, and you showed me how to remove oxalates from my body. It is not easy, I suffer from very little pain. Oxalobacter formigenes, a unique anaerobic bacterium that relies solely on oxalate for growth, is a key oxalate-degrading bacterium in the mammalian intestinal tract. Degradation of oxalate in the gut by Oxalobacter formigenes plays a critical role in preventing renal toxicity in animals that feed on oxalate-rich plants. Due to the over use of antibiotics, the Oxalobacter formigenes bacterium has all but been wiped out in the human gut throughout the Western World.

This is such an important topic! I was vegetarian for decades and felt great until my skin went haywire at 63. In retrospect, I can see that there were problems earlier but I had learned to live with them (runny, itchy eyes that I attributed to allergies without questioning the allergen). Going carnivore 3 years ago resolved 90% of my issues. I still have oxalate dumping flare-ups but I understand that they are necessary and just wait them out. With so much current pressure to reduce meat consumption, the danger of oxalates will be a hard sell. Meat heals. 🥩🥩🥩

Decades of vegetarian lifestyle has taken its toll on me, including diagnosis of MS, mmmh wonder where the inflammation was coming from…….once I cut out oxylates the dumping began relentlessly, I was keto then more carnivore for the last 2 years and it’s settling down I think, not as explosive, but it’s been a horrendous side effect. I suffered from my first episode of renal calculus (kidney stone) at 18 year old as of age in my fist year trainee nurse on night duty. It was the most excruciating pain worse than child birth. I was advised to drink plenty of water. I had been symptom free until I was in my 50s when it struck again. X-ray showed the total amount of 12 stones , 7 in left and 5 in right. I had lithotripsy procedure which is a shock wave of blasting bigger stones into smaller stones so they can pass easily through the urinary system and not blocking the passage of urine and causing pain. I can trace back to the time when spinach was (still is) hailed as a super food which got me ingesting it as smoothies almost everyday. I still have the same amount of 12 stones in both kidneys. They have not increased in size or number even after more than a decade since I stopped eating spinach and kales . I guess they will be there for as long as i live. The awareness of low oxalate diet has stopped them from multiplying and causing trouble. This is a clear connection between high oxalate diet and kidney stones Thank you for your valuable information which I hope will increase the awareness of the damage of what oxalate can do your body

I use ground flax seeds now instead of chia seeds, for the anti-inflammatory omega 3. Flax is low oxalate. Steamed bok choy is high calcium, low phosphorus (required to get the most out of the calcium) and almost zero oxalate - which makes it a good option for people with oxalate/inflammatory issues. there are no blue zones.. , the main staple in okinawa before ww2, was pork.. they still eat a lot of pork, but for a while, after the war killed all the pigs, they had to resort to sweetpotato as a survivalfood. The ideal diet for humans is meat and the fats that goes with it. It has all ( ALL) the nutrients a human needs, and none of the toxins or carcinogens that are in all plants. High fat diets are healthy, as we are designed to eat fats and use fat as energy ( plus all the other jobs it has in our body). The one thing you DONT want to do, is mix fat and carbs (no matter how tasty:P), as this will trigger the Randle cycle, and fat storage ensues. If you are used to eating a lot plants, then it make take some time and effort to transition into more meat and fat, and little to no plants. The gut needs the time to readjust.

I would love to see the question of Oxalates and Vitamin C supplementation (at higher doses, such as 4 grams per day or more), thoroughly dealt with. So far, despite my searching, I haven't found a conclusive answer from a source I trust highly, such as Elliot Overton. Sally K. Norton seems to set the safe upper limit for Vitamin C supplementation at around 250 mg per day, if my memory is correct. It's pretty low. She seems quite wary of it, as far as its potential to contribute to oxalates forming in the body. However, a few other experts (who seem Oxalate savvy, or at least partially so), set the safe upper limit at approx. 3 or 4 grams per day, or higher even. Which is it? Have there been any actual empirical tests (on animal models, for example) to test out the various hypotheses on the best safe Upper Limit amount of Ascorbic Acid (or Sodium Ascorbate), to see if extra oxalates are actually being formed in the body? -- as a result of oral (by mouth) Vitamin C supplementation. I wonder if any ardent Vitamin C proponents (advocates for high dose use of it, for various health concerns) have grappled with the Oxalate question, and have subsequently changed their mind about regular Vitamin C supplementation. ~ at the somewhat higher dosages that they used to recommend? (in the multiple grams per day dosage range, that is.) Under what bodily, or environmental, conditions, does Vitamin C "turn into oxalates"? ~ If, in fact, it even does that once it's inside the body. ~ Is this a phenomenon being speculated about, or has it been observed as actually happening? Example: a Petri dish experiment, OR , ... has it been seen actually happening inside a real live body? A creature that (like humans) can't manufacture its own endogenous Vitamin C, and has to get all their Vit. C through their diet. Some Vitamin C proponents call it a "genetic defect" that we humans have, and portray our bodies as very hungry for Vitamin C. And fairly high doses at that, especially when we're sick (or fighting off an infection). Has anybody here learned, from somebody authoritatively knowledgeable, what the truth is about Vitamin C and oxalates? I would appreciate any leads, or knowledge on this topic. I really don't want to give up my Vitamin C. Thanks!

@Timmakesmusic
@Timmakesmusic Год назад
That's only because the plants humans tend to eat have more moderate amounts of oxalate in them. There are plenty of plants that will cause you immediate problems if you eat them due to the oxalate content. Eating rhubarb leaves or too much sorrel can kill you, for instance. The oxalate in many plants can cause immediate damage to the mouth, throat and digestive tract. For example, there is a plant known as the 'dumb cane' because eating it prevents people from speaking because of the damage its oxalates do to the mouth and throat. Defense mechanisms in plants also don't have to work immediately to be effective. Being able to weaken your predator sufficiently to reduce its long term chances of survival can still help your own species. Also, even in plants with lower oxalate levels, this can still be effective against insects. The immediate lethal dose may not need to be as high. Even when they don't kill directly, oxalates literally wear down the mouthparts of caterpillars and other insects that eat the plant, reducing how much damage they can do.

It sounds like it is important to find out if Oxalate is one of the natural toxins utilized in GMO plants to ward off insects, etc. and we should be seeking out readings of its prevalence and levels in various greens relative to beneficial nutrients to determine an approximate degree of risk.

I am so confused about the oxalate toxicity theory, for many years now I have always resolve most of my health issues by doing extended green juice fasts. For many years eating the normal diet with very little vegie intake my health was a catastrophe, I used to suffer from IBS, allergies, headaches, indigestion, bloating, fatigue etc and since I started eating mainly vegetables and mostly raw including green juices my health improved 100%. I have reversed a few health issue which were supposed to be incurable using water and juice fasts, therefore I am utterly confused by all the fuss about oxales, I feel more research needs to be done before coming to this conclusion. Humans are not meant to be carnivores. Thank you for your videos it is always good to have different points of view and healthy productive discussions, keep them coming

@@cornstar1253 our digestive tract is not close to a carnivore, or even an omnivore. So I don't know why you would say that. Our gi tract is 30+ feet long and ribbed for maximum absorption. Carnivores have much shorter, smooth gi tracts and much stronger stomach acid. Just because the human body can process meat, does not make us omnivores. You can feed meat to a giraffe.

humans are not meant to be carnivores? we are only the smartest creature on the planet with the largest brain to body ratio because of meat. without meat we'd no more intelligent then chimpanzees which I'm sorry to say is not that intelligent. We are not meant to eat vegetables and our digestive system proves it. Fiber is actually supposed to be broken down, everything is. Except humans lack the ability to break down the plant fiber. To me this is evidence that we were not designed to eat plants.

Here my 2 cents on this. I have been take vitamin k2 which help with remove calcifications from tissues throughout the body. There are many many studies now start to show that people taking K2are at the risk of heart attacks, kidney stones arteriosclerosis, and a bunch of other calcifications that happen throughout the body especially if you take crappy vitamins, like synthetic calcium‘s that people think it’s being very helpful to them but do more damage than good. My experience has been that I have to take a vitamin K2. I started to feel more flexible and also my muscles I became softer in a sense and my shoulders which I used to have, a lot of stiffness with have loosened somewhat even after trying so many different exercises and therapies that may have problems with oxalate to try vitamin K2 it may help. And I’m only giving you an anecdotal point of view And I can also give an experience account with a person that I recommend a K2 to during the Covid fiasco about 10 months later after taking it, she pulled me to the side and she said that she had had high blood pressure and finally when she was able to get to the doctors, about 10 months later, the doctor removed her off of Blood pressure medication because her blood pressure became completely normal. From taking vitamin D3 and K2 and she thanked me for recommending to her the K2 and she continue to take it faithfully with no other problems with her blood pressure since. So my theory is that her arteries were hardened with calcium, causing her blood pressure to become higher than normal, but once that calcium have been removed from those arteries, the tissue soften, and the elastic nature had return to normal, this may be anecdotal point but it was a good outcome. Hope the information that I’m giving helps someone out there.

I am wondering about the preparation of tea and resulting Oxalates. It seems to me that there are different ways that tea (Camellia sinensis) is prepared, processed, and brewed -- and that the method of preparation might well result in very different amount of Oxalates getting into the tea. For example: 1) time length of steeping, 2) temperature of the water, and 3) whether loose leaf or 'tea bag' , 4) whether it's Green tea or Black tea (the more widely used version of Camellia sinensis, I think), and 5) whether 'cold water brew' or 'hot water brew'. (with variables #2 and #5, above, likely being the most important) Since such a large number of people worldwide consume tea, I wonder if testing has been done specifically on: 'cold brew method of brewing green tea', and/or other "less aggressive" ways of brewing the tea (such as water temperature being much cooler than boiling temp.), and shorter brewing times than usual. I wonder if that would make a meaningful difference in what types of compounds / substances are extracted from the tea leaves, including the oxalate. For example, another "plant anti-nutrient" called tannins is greatly reduced by using shorter brewing times when preparing the tea (especially in less processed, nonfermented, and more delicate varieties of Camellia sinensis). Thus rendering it less bitter to the taste. Could that also work out to be true for Oxalates? In other words, could different preparation methods make a meaningful difference in what ends up in the tea? I don't want to be guilty of wishful thinking, in that regard, ... but my hope is that that might make it easier for more people to gradually wean themselves off of caffeinated tea, if desired, and transfer to drinking different types of teas -- such as herbal or Yerba mate -- which have very low oxalate content to begin with. Changing life-long habits is difficult. I'm used to starting my day with tea and citrus. A Chinese friend once told me that the better Asian restaurants all know about shorter brewing times for green teas. Also, they brew it at cooler temperatures. For example, after bringing the water to a boil, let it cool for at least 1 minute before putting any tea leaves or bags into it. He said they never let it brew for more than 2 minutes, when using hot water to prepare it. Wikipedia mentions several different brewing times, and temperatures, for preparing different kinds of tea - in use around the world. Does anybody know, specifically, what kinds of Oxalate testing has been done on the different 'preparation methods' for Camellia sinensis (regular, caffeinated) tea? I would be grateful to learn. In my case, I'm especially interested in the cold (room temperature) brewing of loose leaves of Green Tea. But also, for the sake of others who drink the more commonly used versions of Camellia sinensis (a.k.a. Black Tea, or Orange Pekoe), and use more typical brewing methods, I'm interested in the oxalate testing results for those also. Thanks!

The only guide is your body. It knows how to remove them as long as you don't continue to poison yourself into oblivion. And it can take DECADES to eliminate them. Yes....decades! But sadly, gov authorities, media and packaged food corporations will continue to brainwash the masses to eat these toxins in the so-called "healthy plant diets" they peddle to the slaves, while these same elites get to eat all the grass-fed premium red meat and use their private jets to fly to warm vacation hot spots every weekend, especially during lockdowns.

Keep in mind that oxalates bind with magnesium. One guy I know, prone to kidney stones, has to be very strict in avoiding oxalates. And he says that therefore he also has to be careful to avoid getting TOO MUCH magnesium. Too much Mg is also stressful for the kidneys.
@jsanders9975
@jsanders9975 Год назад
You might want to do more research. Oxalates binds to magnesium and depletes your magnesium, so that means you want to supplement with magnesium instead of avoiding it. When calcium is low oxalates rise also. So make sure you have a good balance of calcium/magnesium. The better way of decreasing oxalates is having good gut bacteria, probiotics break down oxalates as well as cooking and soaking foods...
@Loohan7
@Loohan7 Год назад
@@jsanders9975 The point I was trying to make is that IF someone is very successful at avoiding oxalates, that person's Mg requirements will decrease. According to this friend of mine, it is easy for him to get more Mg than he can handle. I presume he does not supplement but I did not ask. He has a lot of genetic issues, says he has had over $1m of medical interventions and he is probably under 40.

Lord have mercy, I‘ve been Clean Keto for 6 yrs now and doing great. More or less per Dr. Eric Berg‘s advice. So do you think just certain people have sensitivities to oxalates and others can eliminate them easier than others? I mean I‘ve eliminated all processed foods, carbs, seed oils and sugar. Now I only eat organic animal proteins & fats, EV olive oil, coconut oil, dairy and veggies. Back now to my perfect weight, sleeping great, loads of energy and brainpower, no more meds or inflammation issues. So please tell me again . . . what should I be worried about?? I guess the next step would be to go full Carnivore, but I‘m not quite ready for that 🤓
