Here is a review and demonstration of my ProVap 110. I tried building one but did not get the desired results. If you want to build one yourself the key is the crucible. Check it out!

Holy smokes! Dude, don't kill yourself and don't kill the poor lady filming. We don't want to save the bees and kill ourselves in the process! The 3M full face model 6800 with #60923 filters is a good choice. Heavy, heat resistant gauntlet gloves are a must as well.

Not only shows how to breathe in multiple treatments, but also shows how to leave your door open and fog ones own house to expose ones family to the toxic crystals. Genius!

Well thank you! I built one as well as although it does work, the one I purchased does work better. It sublimates quicker.

How thick is the aluminum disc?

These devices do not sublimate. If you want proof drop a dose of OA crystals into one and watch the phase transformations. It will melt into a liquid and then boil. I promise.

Hey Mike, you sparked my interest in making one. So far the temp controller box is $12 bucks and the band heater is only $22 bucks. If you don't mind, Please take some time and Show Us the area where they wired it to the controller ? and also the measurements the cup ?., plus where they tapped the temp prob into the base of the cup. More details the better if you have the time...

Got a good lungful there? What not to do with oxalic acid. But the ProVap seems to work great.

Looks great, but I worry that the Aluminum and Copper being in contact will corrode. Those two metals do NOT get along. Especially when you add water (when cleaning)

Good video. Did you try it with a different temperatures? Recommended working temperature for ProVap110 is 230°C (446°F) Oxalic acid sublime between 315°F(157°C) and 372°F (189°C). Above this oxalic acid decomposes to formic acid and carbon monoxide.

Awesome - thanks for the tour. Can you tell me what is the diameter of the aluminum disc (top & bottom). Also, it looks like they milled off (1/8") of the outside of the aluminum disc so the copper pipe could fit between it and the circular heater. How thick is the aluminum disc? Thanks.

Those band heaters are less than $20 on aliexpress, the complete controler, ssr relay and k sensor kit another $20, say another $30 for everything else the provap is probably the biggest ripoff in the beekeeping world, where do they get the $450 pricetag from?

It only uses 250 watts. The El cheapo 2 cycle generators are 800 watts continuous use so that'd be a good choice unless you think you want something bigger.

The Plastic is called Delrin :-) Google it. It is Good toward Oxalic Acid.

Yes its definately teflon, delrin does not have the same heat resistant properties, they coat frying pans with teflon.

Delrin is teflon. It's a trade name.

@@mikeries8549 Delrin is a trade name for Acetal. Teflon is ptfe. Two different materials although delrin can contain ptfe as an additive. Teflon is much better for high temps.

Anyone using an inverter. Larry's (owner) says it needs 300 watts, 3.x amps. Thinking a 700w would do the trick. Would run it off my tractor.

I going this route with the Heaters. 2 of them. 300 Watts total. Will have to make the bottom a little bigger to take the heater cartridges. The temp probe will be near the process to react faster. When measuring a 1/4 teaspoon it is not supposed to be rounded up like that. Level is how you measure it. Get a mask. Do test runs before you record..
