got this for 4.99 euros in the steam sale... really got engrossed into it and finished in one sitting. Gave me some Stranger Things vibes. Nice ending too and some amazing game mechanics. The mirror section you partake in is what other players will see on their playthrough. Also I used an app on my phone to decode some morse code beeps near the beginning which were decoded as BE SURE TO BE IN THE CORRECT TIME. Fantastic attention to detail.

I'm about three hours into Oxenfree, and I'm really enjoying it. The characters are well thought out and feel natural. The undertones of loss and family dynamics are heartfelt and surprisingly moving. The story is strong, and the ambiance is excellent. I did get this game for free from GOG, so I can't complain about the price. However, I would say to pick this up with no reservations on sale. I would happily pay $10 to $15 for it. $20 does seem a bit high to me, but it's on sale often. Pick it up and enjoy the experience!

While I find Joe more entertaining ACG gives a lot of information and goes in-dept of the aspects of the game he reviews, not to say Joe doesn't do this but I tend to lean more towards ACG's style in this matter as it's somewhat more professional and informative.

No he couldn`t. Angry Joe is Angry Joe, not ACG, they shouldn`t be the same, if you prefer one over the other, watch that. Let the reviewers do their own thing, diversity is key ;) I prefer ACG over AJ, but where ACG is to the point, in depth and thorough, AJ is more entertaining and he still does his research, but a lot of his subs don`t WANT hour long videos with explanations of in game mechanics and the graphics engines etc, they want to be entertained. Hell, MOST of his audience have said they only want the angry reviews lol. They`re different, and that`s good.

Something for those playing this, a 360 controller works exceptionally well and for me anyway would be my preferred method of controlling the action everything is just a little more intuitive. Played it yesterday and totally agree with the summation, I think they got almost everything right except price point, knock $5 off and it's a must buy imho. That and the mystery is still a bit of a mystery at the end I would have preferred a little more explanation of everything at the end.

I was interested in this game, when I first heard of it but I couldn't get it. Now that it's coming to PS4, I want to get it but I wanted to be sure. This convinced me in picking it up. You went into detail in every department in the review, explaining everything well. The price tag is a bit much but I'm okay with it. It has extras in this version, so maybe it'll justify the price. Though, I never played it so I wouldn't know if it's good additional content. Thanks! You just earned yourself a sub!

It's only 4 hours if you just rush through the story. You can get 6 or more if you take time to explore the island. Plus you mentioned it pretty much requires at least two play thoughts to get most of the story. Throw in the collectibles and that certainly justifies the $20 price tag.

This is my favorite review on RU-vid because it explains why this game is my favorite game of all time in a way that’s better than I ever could. I would disagree with one thing, the OST is PHENOMENAL. I think it actually made me love the game more

Great review, I would have to say for the amount of work that had to go into this $20 is very reasonable even for 4 hours of gameplay. They must've had a huge amount of script writing, recording, and coding to get it to work properly, let alone everything else in the game. Either way, I already had purchased this game in a previous steam sale (I don't even remember when) but only just now played it because of your review; and I loved it. Just started my second play through because now I'm curious if anything will be different since it seems that it is looping back over itself.

This reply is for the both of you and i can assure you it is 100% worth it. It’s on sale now and i picked it up cuz i lt was so cheap and i wanted to play a story game while i relaxed from Splatoon. In my opinion it is amazing and works really well on the Switch. For 5€ be sure to get it. :)

I've just finished the game and rushed to listen to your review, and I'm glad to hear you mentioned the time-loop pieces, the storytelling really shines there, but in the end the potential feels a bit wasted, you have a glimpse that things changed a bit because your actions, but not quite. But anyway this title is really refreshing, an adventure game that really tries to put some thinking into the story and game design, and not just copy&paste and hope for a nostalgia trip.

2022 review I liked the story BUT WAY TOO MANY CRASHES. The game crashed at the end just before the generic ending animation WTF ? It crashed while I was going to a different area making a buzzing sounds then going back to the xbox menu. Wtf .... And 19.99 was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for the game. 2/10.

$20 dollars? that's $5 an hour... I think the only game that comes close to $5 per hour now a days that's worth it is one of the Bioshocks when new. This is a tough sell given other games in its price range, and what avaliable for less. I am surprised you gave this a buy.

Quality and amount of content should drive price. If you want to argue that; that would be anti consumer right? or do you want to pay top dollar for a lousy quick game?

no1ymfan1 Did you read any of that? I don't hate sidescrollers. I've played CoL, it was decent but like most indie games, unremarkable. I reiterate: Just because a good one comes every now and then doesn't justify oversaturation and laziness. Much like FPSs and Zombie games.
