It's midnight, I'm in my mom's country home kitchen, rushing to whip up some dishes last minute for a family bbq tomorrow and this was the only can-opener in the house. I actually stared at this thing, tried to figure it out for a frustrating amount of time before admitting shameful defeat by my senior aged mother's modern tech, and searching RU-vid for a tutorial. Thank you for taking those informatively precious 3.5 minutes out of your day to save me $200 in having to replace my mom's kitchen sink windows!

I watched another video which showed how to open from a side view. Perfect! I'm one of those people who has to see things step by step. I had no problem removing the lid. He explained that perfectly. He also suggested to keep turning until to get to where you started. I was guessing. Tip. Pay attention to where you place the can opener. Begin turning the handle and keep turning even when you get to the starting point. The extra time prepares you to open the can opener and remove it.

I bought one for my husband for Christmas 🎄, and actually opened a can that day and really didn't have a problem. I have a perfectly good Black and Decker that I use, but my daughter wanted to tryout the new one. My husband, daughter, and I tried several times and I finally decided to look on RU-vid. Simple!!! OMG!!! Well I hope that I will never forget again. LOL 😂

In order to drain the can with the lid on just stop short of your starting point and lift the lid as you would with any can opener.

thanks! I just found one of these at the thrift store for $0.25 and couldn't figure out how to use it. Thought I was missing a part, but the very beginning of your vid showed mine exactly the same as yours. I didn't know to open the handle to get the first bite of the can.

Draining is super easy with this! Just shift the lid leaving a small gap, press down with your index finger to keep it in place and drain. Similar to when you drain water from a pot with the lid on, only this is one-hand operation. Works even better with this opener because the lid will not sink into the can avoiding possible food contamination.

I just bought this device and failed by trying to follow the printed instructions that came with the product. Watched a video demo done by an asian appearing lady who was ok with her demo but not as well done and comprehensive as yours. Kudos for an excellent instructional video. Maybe now I'll have more success to cut the bottom off these two big #10 cans so I can squash them for the recyle ;). Thanks a bunch

I just bought one a few weeks ago after using my grand mother's smooth edge one for years, hers is great. This one is a POS it will not open any of the cans of tuna I have right now. It's almost brand new used it 2 times before and now it just straight up won't work

Thanks! Just got mine and I didn't get how it was used. BTW, I keep a good pocketknife handy in the kitchen for things like draining cans.

0h finally got it...cause I didn't see a cut from on the top of the can, like how you usually would see when opening a can using a regular can opener. Get it now

Ignore the criticism that you can't easily drain the can. Buy a handy and inexpensive strainer that fits inside and over the can. It makes draining easy and it has depth so you can press down to thoroughly drain things like tuna fish so your tuna salad is not soggy. You should be able to find this in a local store, but you can also order it on-line: search for TOOGOO Stainless Steel Food Can Strainer

The old popsicle and tin foil method still is a great way to open cans in a pinch.

Is there such a thing as a left-handed can opener of this type? Maybe this is a question for OXO. My right thumb is shot.

You do not need to can openers Or you need is that 1st 1 that you showing in the video there safety can opener The other 1 doesn't make sense of having anymore You wanna drain the can open it with the safe to can't and open the little little bit and then just dream out the stuff Doesn't make no sense of cracking open with the other can open up to make hows it doesn't make no sense at all or you needed to safe to can open up open it up and that's it I do it all the time myself I have 1 and it works great.

it's a good product, but i guess it's not available here in the philippines..

I guess the version I bought must be missing something, because the opener isnt' gripping the can. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks! I was probably gonna buy this until you mentioned its not very good for draining fluids. Which most of my cans I use have fluid. So I'll look elsewhere.

It's a poorly designed can opener that needs a RU-vid video to teach people how to use it.

Your video did not help me whatsoever. I still after watching the video three times cannot figure out how to use the can opener. And I did exactly what you showed me to do.
