I’m 73 now and I remember listening to this album 50 year ago. My favourite track with life’s poetic meanings which ring home today . I’ll request this when my times done. Incredibly I still have the album. I was that cat . Muchas gracias . 😌
If You Want To Get To Heaven and Jackie very good, but the whole album It'll Shine When It Shines is phenomenal. Saw them in Raleigh, NC in '76. Best concert ever !!
Saw them here in their hometown about 6 months ago. Sounded better than ever. This song brought the house down. To Steve, Larry, John, Randall, Soup, Ruel, Kelly, Billy (rip), and all the guys that have come and gone but made the OMDD who they are; thanks for the music and the memories.
I 'am 57 years old and this was a tune that I related to when I was younger . I'am in a great place now but didn't see it coming , I'am just a good ole boy who learned to wait !
This was played by two students at my graduation from Commons House school in Minneapolis in June of 1975. I recently found myself humming it and then burst into tears remembering what a sweet song it is. So glad there so many comments here, too.
Me and my buddy Rick would play this song over 30 years ago.It reminds me of him and all the good times we'd sit and play Ozark's songs.I miss ya Rick..Killed in a logging accident a couple of years ago.Rest in Peace Rick.. guitar picker, harley riding, hard workin buddy... and our best friend.
Yes, I do love this music.. Could and do listen most of the day.. Take me back to when my sweetheart was here, and all was well..tx mjansen5.... Ken1960-1980.. Drunk driver took him away!!! STOP DRINKING AND DRIVING PEOPLE!!!
Thanks for the memory- saw these guys in London in '74 i think it was- their songs influenced my life then & have informed my own music (along with many others) ever since.
Saw the Ozarks in 1976 at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Scotland. Bit of a stuffy old venue more used to staging classical music. Atmosphere was wonderful but one old suited blimp of a steward got very upset when people started dancing. He was dashing around trying to tell people to sit down ... he soon gave up as we all got into the swing of one of the best concerts I saw in the 70s [+ indeed in my life] thanks OMDs [and you gustavo]
I actually saw them live in England at oround this time 1976 on the last of a 3 day country music festival at Wembly. They were the last act of the night finished about 12.30. Had to walk back across London to Kings Cross railway station and wait for milk train to take me home with only a couple of hours sleep to get up and go to work.
I grew up with OMD... Springfield, Missouri and the seventies. The OMD's are an integral part of my memories of growing up. This is an excellent vid cuz it's almost like seeing um again, hanging out, partying. Thanks for this vid!
This song is really great. Never heard of OMD before, although I should have had the chance to, as I'm born in 68. Now, I am searching the entire tube for OMD songs. Anyway, this one's the best. Fascinating. What a band.
these guys were the real deal alright ! thats real american country rock by guys who grew up together not like say the eagles who were kinda invented in la i have loved their songs for 37 years since i was a teenager in ireland in the 70s
i love the daredevils. i remember hearing if you wanna get to heavin when i was about 13. but did not really get into them until i heard the harmonica on river runnin.what a killer song .ibought every album after that.great band
Brilliant band, saw them live at the hammersmith odeon back around 75-77 . I only went to see the support band splinter , but was blown away by the ozarks.
+ianabroad Oh boy - you must be one of them younger fellas ! '76. long hair and beards were the thing - combined with flared loon pants, western boots and long sleeved t-shirts. They called us ...hippies!
Despite Supe`s little mistake on bass (maybe he was a bit impatient to get into the chorus) I still love this live version as it shows how sensitive and truly authentic they were (and still are), also live.
well lisaduffy28 i could nt agree more with you always loved that band had a tape for years of that album every song a classic very talented musicians and song writers and great fun as well ! that concert was on the mainstreet chanel on the telly i video taped it and watched it to death cant flipping find it now ! i m gutted
I wonder if they were a bit inspired by Ripple when they wrote this song,it leaves ya with that same wistful feeling.Incredible songwriters they were in the seventies.
Saw them at the Mean Fiddler last time they were here...I love this band and I want them to come back and play here again. Is this Whistle Test stuff avaialble to buy on DVD?
