WHAT IS DISCUSSED IN THIS VIDEO
Semaglutide medications, Ozempic and Wegovy, have been linked to a type of eye stroke called an NAION. NAION stands for non-ateritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. This is a sudden permament blinding eye condition with no treatment. This recent study shows an association with this condition, but not stating it can cause an naion. This is something to be aware of to all those who are taking these medications, or considering taking these medications.

Thanks for sharing this - sounds unnerving and hopefully isn't an actual cause but maybe correlation? I've been on Wegovy for a year and 3 months and thankfully have not had any eye issues. I have lost 30lbs, dropped my cholestorol drastically, and my hs-CRP marker for inflammation is nearly in the normal range which is the best its been since being diagnosed with a couple of auto-immune conditions about 8 years ago. For me the medicine had little to do with diet/appetite (in fact I eat more now) and more to do with getting past the pro-inflammatory state that weight gain had put me in. The resulting reduction in risk for CV issues or events has very much been a life changer for me.

A retrospective analysis from a study involving 66 million U.S. patients, published in the *Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology*, found no increased risk of nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) among users of GLP-1 receptor agonists like semaglutide compared to non-GLP-1 users. This large-scale study confirms the ocular safety of these medications.

Except the lead author of this study was paid by Novo - the pharma company - to write the paper. Also, they used an AI consultancy to quickly retrieve these 60,000 a medical records. In truth, this article you reference was a damage control paper by Novo

@@geojjjackson3535 Dr. David Klonoff doesn't own any part of Novo Nordisk or have shares in the company. Saying he was paid to fake research is a big deal - that's a serious claim to make without proof. If there was any real evidence of this, there are probably people out there who would be eager to expose him and get him in trouble with the law. They'd likely be more motivated to do this than you are. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) isn't completely useless or corrupt like you seem to think. Using computer programs that rely heavily on AI to gather information from research studies is pretty normal these days. It's not some special trick they just came up with.

1:14 Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist! It is does not help secrete GLP-1, it only mimics it.

Did the study adjust for BMI in both groups-those on Ozempic and those not? This seems crucial since higher BMI is directly correlated with the incidence of this eye issue. Ignoring this could really skew the results.

I just started ozempic 3 weeks ago my doctor nor the pharmacist did not mention any of this this is the type of information that should be put in the description of side effects or possible side effects of this if this is true this is utterly ridiculous
