Ozempic for Type 2 Diabetes

ype 2 diabetes overwhelmingly results from too much of the wrong type of food. The condition places the life in jeopardy for a variety of complications involving the heart, brain, kidneys, eyes and nerves. Type 2 diabetes increases the risk for a variety of cancers as well.
While our current medical treatments pay appropriate homage to diet and exercise, they rush to begin with a variety of progressively more unaffordable drugs not capable of significantly reducing the risk of important disease related preventable outcomes.
Instead of correcting miseating, habits advertisements abound for expensive drugs like Ozempic, a glucagon like peptide receptor agonist. Although it can mildly lower the glycosylated hemoglobin or so-called A1c, it does not approach the benefits of proper nutrition and exercise. In spite of claims of reduced cardiovascular risk, the advantages are illusory. And the drug may be associated with some worsening of diabetic eye disease or retinopathy.
Ozempic claims a minimal amount of weight loss associated with its use; but not sufficient to stanch the disease.
For a drug with a cash price of about $800 or $25+ a day one should expect more. Adding further insult, Ozempic merely represents an add-on drug. It must be combined with other expensive anti-diabetic drugs - none of which reverse the disease process.
Appropriate diet and exercise remain the best options with success equated with eliminating both disease and need for drug therapy.

Good stuff, my doc just put me on this, even though I have been on Keto for a couple months and lowered my A1C to 5.4, in the same time shrunk my waist by 4” and lost 22 lbs now.

Lots of great info about a medication. Oh and thanks so much for the diet and exercise tip. It's so great someone is speaking out about a healthy yet very easy and pleasant alternative to diabetes medications. If I'd know it was so simple all along I just would have done that... 😒

pammy mustang Dear Pammy.....I am beyond happy that it’s working for you. I’ve had to stop. I also have diverticulitis and I don’t know if it was from the constipation from the medication or not but it threw me into the WORST flare of my life! I stopped it immediately. Have an appt. with my gastrointestinal doc in January. I felt that after the 2nd injection like it was going to be a breeze. No nausea at all. Two steps forward, 5 back. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Beverly

That was helpful info. I have ozempic in the fridge but am hesitating to start it as I have a history of stomach issues. I'm leaning towards not taking it. The dr told me to start at less than the .25 dose, half of this I think. Now I have more information about ozempic. Thanks.

Dr. Ken. I started on Ozempic about 10 days ago. I lost 5 lbs already. This is due to me feeling more full and less hungry. I have tried many diets in the past but nothing was as good as this drug. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and this been a life savior. I know it's very early to report on this but I see a good outcome from it. I really think there is an imbalance in my hormones that getting corrected with Ozempic,

Ozempic can cause thyroid cancer. The other stuff, regular insulin, contains metacresol. Google: Safety Data Sheet for metacresol. Its put in insulin as a preservative. That's what they are calling it. Actually it is a disinfectant. Side effects of metacresol mirrors the complications of diabetes. Metacresol is also liquid LYSOL.

This doctor has his fingers in the pie. Did he tell you insulin contains a neurotoxicant? Did he tell you Ozempic causes thyroid cancer?
@Catajbr

@@davidhefner5668 Insulin has a strong cleaning agent smell. It's always made me leary of what it can do to your organs and other insides. I've also noticed since starting insulin about 2 years ago (different insulins off and on) I have been getting worse with higher numbers and lately getting protein in my urine lab results. All of this is scaring the crap out of me.

Ok Dr. If it was you and you had some success (other than cravings) in reducing your a1C with diet and excercise, would you take Ozempic? I hear these side affects and they make me very apprehensive. I had been taking Metformin and had digestive issues with it. The dr took me off and during the time I was off, I had surgery and my diet was off and I was not allowed to exercise. Upon my return to my dr for a check on my a1c, he saw it went up (no surprise) and suggested Ozempic. I'm trying to figure out if the risks with it are worth taking it or should i return to metformin?

Hey Doc, question: Do you think the toxicity of these once-weekly injectable meds is more, especially at the beginning of the week, as compared to the once-daily injectables? Or it doesn't work that way?

Geez Doc., I’d never thought of eating healthily and exercising to rid myself of this insidious weight!🤦‍♀️ If only it were that simple🤷‍♀️! Unfortunately for so many, these obvious and commonsense methods don’t always work. Clearly not in my case, as I have always walked, played competition tennis, eaten healthy, moderate meals with no added fats and watch my carbs. I only eat healthy fats like nuts, avocado and eat fresh fruit - again, all in moderation. I only drink water. So Doctor, you tell me where I’m going wrong?🤷‍♀️

I'm doing great on its minimal side effects and manageable ones. Getting blood work done making sure all is well, I Have a Cardiologist and an eye doctor. I'm reading your body language and Your attitude is patronizing and dismissive I would hate to have you as my doctor. The "Fat" and "obesity" comment alone was telling about your bedside manner and your views of overweight human beings. You must fat shame your patients on a regular if you're still practicing that is. Overall getting past your attitude very informative. Thank goodness I live in Canada!
