Do you have any updated videos on Trulicity? I am looking at the comments and they are 2-3 years old. Also, I thank you for your explanation of this med, I have been afraid to inject the medication prescribed, since I have never had to do this before with any other med. This video encouraged me and took away the fear of using the Trulicity. Thanks for all the info, the only thing I didn't hear was the best time of day to inject.

I've just started on Trulicity again after three months, it's really hard to get at the moment. I found that eating less reduces the nausea, I think it's because food stays in the stomach longer. It has a positive effect on my food bill. I shop just a little less often. Though I find it difficult to finish a loaf of bread, I only get half way through before it goes mouldy. I have to freeze half of the loaf when I bring it home. Also when I stopped while it was unavailable my weight went up really fast and I was tired all of the time, no energy at all. There is no way I could stay on my feet for nearly eight hours like I did today. My blood sugar was nearly 16 yesterday before I injected, it's dropped to 10 today and still falling. It would be nice to see the green light on my meter again. Now, I hope I start losing weight again as fast as I did before and keep losing it. I lost about 15kg while on it last time.

I know this video is 2 years old. Trulicity is higher dosage now. My Dr. Start low and now am on 4ml. When the dr. Moved my to 4 I started with severe side affects. I had really horrible hiccups that I could not stop. I had gas continually. And then on top of it I’m not sure what body part if it was intestines or something else where they literally rolled and flipped the doctor that prescribed it is on vacation but the one that took her place tell me to stop taking it until she gets in contact with me when she gets back. Also, pens can be faulty when I was on the 1.5 mill the whole month of pins did not work one week it actually sliced about 1/4 inch of my skin.

Thank you! When my doctor prescribed Trulicity to me, I asked if I should let it warm up before injection. She said she didn't know, and to ask my pharmacist. My brother had to pick it up, and did not ask this. I have seen a different doctor since then, and she also said she did not know, and ask my pharmacist. Because I did not know whether to let it warm up , I have been taking it out and letting it warm up while I take a shower. I guess I should continue this, but I will be asking my pharmacist anyway.

Did you make any changes to your diet? Type 2 Diabetes is a dietary issue. Try lowering your carb intake. I keep mines to around 30 carbs a day and my A1C fell from 11 to 6.3. Diabetes is just too many carbs for your body to process resulting in too much sugar in your blood. Current treatment of diabetes focuses on the symptoms (high blood sugar) and not the cause (large number of carbs). Best of luck to you managing your diabetes. Check out "Beat Diabetes!" video on RU-vid.

I am searching for someone who is going through this. I am about to switch to Trulicity from Ozempic because of insurance. I had to adjust to Ozempic but since then it has worked so well. All my bloodwork has been fantastic and I feel great. I am just worried switching will make me go through the adjustment or new side effects again and lose all the progress I had made. Ozempic was working and did what it was supposed to do. Lower my A1C, drop my glucose levels, I'm off 5 other meds too. Some weight loss as well but not the biggest deal. I hate the fact that I have to rely on some insurance company to just mess with my hormones in the space of 30 days and not my own doctor because I can't afford to go from a co-pay to $1100 a month.

The only thing is wake up before using it. I accidently left the cap on the bottom once and the medication went all over. I'm truly sorry to hear about the discomfort you experienced after your first dose of Trulicity, but I'm relieved to know that you found the video helpful in navigating through it. Transitioning from Metformin after 18 years can indeed be a significant change, especially when considering your health concerns. Experiencing burning, lumps, and bruises after injection isn't uncommon with Trulicity, as it's a side effect reported by many users. However, it's essential to monitor these symptoms closely and communicate them to your doctor. Nausea, too, can be a side effect, but I'm glad it didn't escalate for you. Remember, your health journey is unique, and adjustments might be needed along the way. It's fantastic that you're proactive about managing your health and seeking out resources like this video. If you have any further questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They can offer personalized advice tailored to your specific needs. Wishing you a smooth transition and improved health with your new medication regimen. Stay strong, and take care of yourself!

I was started on the 0.75 dose after 4 weeks there was no real effect (in conjunction with Metformin and Januvia). My provider increased to the 1.5 dose. I did see a slight change in my daily glucose numbers. The injections were very simple with the device. I tended to have more of a startle reflex when pushing the activation button (compare to opening a can of refrigerated biscuits) then pain. After two weeks on the dose and midway through third week severe side effects hit (vomiting, diarrhea). My provider and I couldn't rule out food poisoning (recent travel questionable restaurant) so we tried the 4th dose after those effects wore off. This dose took "severe" side effects to the next level. I don't say this to scare anyone. My take-away is my provider and I probably could have gone a few more weeks at the low dose which may have started to show improvement as well start showing side effects at lessened intensity. For me this was not the GLP of choice. (As a side note we did rule out pancreatitis the vomiting and diarrhea brought some abdominal pain...with the use of Januvia needed to check-negative.) Hope this is helpful. New to your videos but they very informational! Thank you.

Hi Doctor, First of all, absolutely loved this video. I live in Australia and I was started on the 1.5mg/0.5ml Trulicity about 6 weeks ago in conjunction with Januvia, Jardiance and Rosuvastatin. From what I gather, I am among the unfortunate few that get to experience the seemingly brutal side effects of Trulicity and yes, I have lost weight as well. I am trying to soldier on as I think the severity and frequency of these side effects are decreasing although quite slowly. I also am trying to standardize my diet as I personally find the side effects worsen with carb rich and sometimes fatty and spicy food. So basically this drug is forcing me to start eating what a diabetic should be eating anyway since I have no real will power to do it otherwise. Like strong patches do to a chain smoker trying to quit. But this is also causing constant tiredness, lethargy and admittedly some strong mood swings. It is affecting my work and thinking straight for any extended period has become difficult. From your experience with your patients so far, how much longer (roughly) may it take for the body to get used to Trulicity and I can get on with life as "normal"? Thanks in advance.
@mikeinfinity2005
@mikeinfinity2005 3 года назад
Are things any better?
@Mitrababu80
@Mitrababu80 3 года назад
@@mikeinfinity2005 Yes, I daresay it is. With my diet standardized, I now get sick (bloating, some nausea, etc) only during what I guess is the weekly peak of the Trulicity action (3rd and 4th) days. This has been the pattern for the last 3 weeks or so. Any slip ups in the eating department, the drug promptly puts me in place withing an hours or so! So, yes it is much better but I will hardly call it normal. But then again, as a diabetic of many years I guess "normal" is very subjective.

Why did your doctor put you on such a high dose to start with? I am a 74 woman who’s AIC was getting to be pre- diabetic and my weight was going up - so my endocrinologist wanted to put me on Trulicity - I was hesitant because I react very easily to meds - but he started me in .75mg. And I am on my third week . I have not experienced any side effects and even no loss of appetite- that I feel one still needs to use self- control . I think your doc should have broken you in slowly . By the way, one thing good about living in a third world country like the Philippines is there are many expert professional doctors who you can consult with any time the need arises . Anyway, I hope your side effects are getting better.

Wonderful video, thanks for sharing Doc...... I have been on & off Trulicity for the past 6-7 years. The main reason I stop, is I find the injection hurts. I have tried different injection sites, with almost all the same results. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Wish I had found this video 4 weeks ago when I started using trulicity. That said my biggest issue was gas. The oh so wonderful sulfur burps, the loud and stinky farts, I was loose the day after injection but that's become more constipation. The injector system is really nice as I hate needles.

Very helpful. I just started my first dose . I have been using lantus for two years and have CKD. Dr what is your opinion about metformin and kidney disease?
@Inevid
@Inevid 7 месяцев назад
I'm glad you found the video helpful as you embark on your journey with Trulicity, especially considering your experience with Lantus and your kidney health concerns. Metformin and its usage in individuals with kidney disease is a topic that requires careful consideration and consultation with a healthcare provider. While Metformin is generally considered safe for most people with diabetes, its use in those with chronic kidney disease (CKD) requires close monitoring. In your situation, where you already have CKD, it's crucial to discuss the potential risks and benefits of continuing Metformin with your doctor. They can provide personalized advice based on your specific medical history and current condition. Depending on the stage of your kidney disease, they may recommend adjustments to your treatment plan or alternative medications that are safer for your kidneys. Remember, your healthcare team is there to support you in making the best decisions for your health. Don't hesitate to reach out to them with any questions or concerns you may have about your medications and their impact on your kidney health. Wishing you all the best on your health journey.

I love it how well Trulicity was able to control my diabetes right after the very first shot of 1.5mg. My glucose level has never been as smoothly in range in years. But the side effects seem to be so horrible that I hesitate whether I want to continue. Nausea and mild pain in the abdomen are nothing, but the main bad effect was severe indigestion I had developed on day 4. I ate a small pizza at lunch and went for a walk. By the end of the day, and most of the next day I was suffering from stomach burn and bloating, and a strong rotten egg smell coming out every 15-20 minutes. It seemed like the food was still sitting in the stomach and rotting all this time, Without this, I was thinking it was the best medication to control diabetes. Not sure if this severe indigestion issue would persist, or would go away with any following doses.
@zaibian7
@zaibian7 Год назад
"severe indigestion" Same here, antacid works most of the time. Avoid certain foods. Pizza is a big no-no for me as well, all of that cheese, tomato, spicy processed meats and bread. My farts smell like the skip behind McDonalds. I don't even want to think about the explosive diarrhea. And I'd probably avoid an open flame in enclosed spaces. The indigestion gets better after a few doses, though you may have to adjust your diet for best results. Find what works for you.

Since then, almost 2 weeks later, the GI problems are horrific for me. I have had vomitting, severe constipation and the gas is unreal! My body is super sensitive to this medication. Beside that is same ole diabetes medicine, mine worked for while on sugar level , but if u cheat abit goes up , just like u never had it, now they raised mine to 3, will see what happen ..is all about what u eat not medicines, if u watch what u eat & be on good diet , have ur daily walk , then u lose weight & blood sugar goes down & stays down , these are just icing on the cake

Tried introductory dosage of Trulicity. Tried the full four week dosage. I guess I'm in the 1% who can't tolerate it - it racked my tummy, badly. REALLY bummed, because it was working wonders on my daily glucose checks. Endocrinologist said if I have that reaction, I'll have the same reaction to any of the Semaglutide meds. Oh, well.

I started using it last week. It was really weird to inject. Did it in the thigh and didn’t feel the needle at all. However it felt as it went in like one of the shots that feel like they “ball” inside you. Kind of like a Shingles shot or one that has thicker compounds.

Awesome review, David. Do you think the nausea you mentioned at 14:06 for the high dose of Victoza is what causes the side effect of weight loss? All this stuff is so interesting. Thank you for teaching me!
@sugarhighchannel
@sugarhighchannel 4 года назад
Nausea can definitely be part of it. But even outside of nausea, these meds decrease appetite in general, prompting people to eat less. It went kinda quick in the video because I was trying hard not to spend too much time on statistics and data, but you might have noticed at 15:21 that Victoza has one of the highest amounts of decreased appetite amongst all of these meds.
@Soleil5291
@Soleil5291 4 года назад
Sugar High yes! I did hear that. That’s why I was wondering, is the nausea the cause? I was listening to your video in a loud car so I couldn’t hear :/ Also- are the weightloss effects for victoza long lasting or do you gain the weight back once you get off it? Thanks again for the information.
@PlanetKaylah
@PlanetKaylah 4 года назад
@Michael Carney orrr do both so that you are able to control your blood sugar, while you also work to resolve the actual disease with diet and exercise.
@sugarhighchannel
@sugarhighchannel 4 года назад
After stopping Victoza or Trulicity, the med will eventually work it’s way out of the system and the appetite suppression will fade. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the weight has to come back on, though. Maintaining the same diet and lifestyle would allow someone to keep the weight off, but they wouldn’t have the appetite suppression there to make it easier.
